My Custom Vewlix Quest

I’m looking for some opinions on color scheme. I really like the Blue Vewlix that I’ve seen.

The problem is that my room is already painted a light green, so I’m leaning towards a green color scheme. What do you think looks better?

I’d go with the Green and white

Agreed. If you change the colour of your room, it may not match anymore!

white i reckon but the blue does look cool!, just sketched mine out today, should be cutting tm night after work, must get this ready for ssf4!
to all you guys who are reading this and have built one of these is there anything you would have changed if you did it again?
Im sure this has been asked many times but how would you set up the joysticks for xbox 360? ie home/guide button.

Only the size of the screen now I have more room!

The setup for mine is like this with MENU being the guide button.

hey, would i i need to break down 2x xbox wired controllers to get this to work? originally i was going to use 2x te fightsticks, electronics isnt my thing and one contrl panel would look much better than two seperate ones.

lookin good!

I was finally able to mount the TV for the first time. I had to move the mount up a little in order for vertical rotation. Wire lattice installed on doors.

TV in horizontal position.

TV in vertical position. Schmup heaven!!! I do have a TINY gripe. The TV isn’t perfectly centered when rotated vertically. It’s most likely an issue with the TV’s VESA mounting hole location. I can learn to live with it though.

What’s left now…

  1. Cut out the back to install the wire lattice.
  2. Bevel all edges.
  3. Finish VSHG control panel
  4. Finish computer control panel.
  5. Marquee
  6. Paint

Looks like I’m almost in the home stretch.

Looks great!, cant wait to see it done!

i love these projects! looks like it’s coming along great!

looking good mate, the top looks nice and clean, should be doing mine but been so busy!.

Why not make two? One for fighters and one for shmups. Now that would rock. Looking pro btw.

Really looks great. I am hoping to do something like this in the future also. Keep it up!

Are you sure? After all, there aren’t any shmups that will fit your widescreen TV…

Honestly, I’d sell the 2 VSHGs and buy an actual Vewlix panel, although I do think the way you’re incorporating them is awesome.

  • LOL. That would be great… but I’ve been spending too much money on my other hobby (firearms).
  • There are a lot of older arcade games that use the portrait layout (Pacman, Centipede, Raiden), so it will fit a lot better. There is still going to be a slight bars on the top and bottom due to the 3:4 aspect ratio, but at least the horizontal field will be filled.
  • It’s not about the money as much as keeping the VSHG. I usually buy fighting games for the Xbox360, but in the event of a PS3 exclusive, I want to keep the VSHG just in case. The other reason I was avoiding a Vewlix panel was that I’m most likely going to use this as a computer desk 90% of the time. This was the mockup that I created for the computer panel.
