Ideally you’ll want strong rushdown characters to play Power. In the Power storm you need movement to take advantage of the anti pushblock properties of the storm. Otherwise it’s pretty meh unless you hit confirm into it for a TOD which the TODs are rather expensive and require full storm bar.
Yea I’m waiting for a chun power stone user. Seems like that would be pretty strong.
I actually want to start using her, just need to find a reliable bnb so I can start using her in real matches. I like how she can basically attack any part of the screen she wants with her sbk and her down down special.
Ok I haven’t played much but this is what I can say so far.
Dante is easy to use…well…if you played him in vanilla he is. Not hard to combo confirm off his shit and he is just good.
Gamora is exacrly who I thought she would be. Balanced good at both ranges and just overall effective.

Dr Strange- what the fuck did they do to my character?? On one hand they made him better with his spells and normals. On the other hand he got needed in the 2 best phases of his game…meter usage and build. I mean I feel like I have to completely relearn him which sucks after I had him down to a science in umvc3
The others I haven’t tested yet. Gotta get my hands om strider next and see what he plays like.
Having said that FUCK THIS GAMES GENERIC. ASS COMBO BULLSHIT. Umvc3 had depth in combos. I could create combos and do what I wanted. This game is just ground series into an fly jab combo and animation command move (crazy dance from Dante or me marvel command hit) and either reset hyper. I can’t do fun loops sky dance ground bounce reset, impact palm loops, or anything “fun”. Yes there are characters that habe gram satellite loops( he had those in umvc3 and he had a version that did over 600k meterless im that game before hyper) but this game just lacks that creativity. Yes neutral is still good and the game is still fun but thry dropped the ball by not adding in certain mechanics thay made marvel fun. (Sigh)

I think you’re mistaking “I can’t do fun combos” for “I can’t do my Marvel 3 combos.” I think it’s more about being a new game that you have to learn new combos for. You can’t do all of the Marvel 1 combos in Marvel 2. You remember when people said MVC3 had no combos and was just ABCS BBCS XF win? I remember any way.
Jedah has a lot of variations to his bnbs that people aren’t doing yet.
I mean those combos weren’t as spectacular as some of the shit. Umvc3 produced. Like is someone did that in tournament it isn’t gonna be like when marlinpie first did the doom tac combo or clouds old combo video level shit. I looked at that combo and said…“oh so you can kill with the glitch”. That didn’t blow me away. The major selling point to me in this game is neutral. The combo video level shit I used to see people do in this game isn’t there. Maybe like you said it MAY take some time to get to that point but by this time in vanilla and ultimate they had some crazy shit.
A lot of that stuff took time to come up with with really. A lot of the TAC stuff wasn’t used in tournaments till like a year after there were vids for them. The game doesn’t look like it limits too much with what you can do (especially with the HSD glitch still in) so I wouldn’t be surprised if more swag stuff starts coming about.
The most swag stuff in Marvel 3 were generally exploits of the HSD system any ways. With a working HSD system a lot of that stuff is already gone in Marvel 3. With Infinite I think there’s still a good amount of swag things to do, they just won’t last for 30 years unless they keep the HSD glitch around. Power and Time Storms will likely have some really swag stuff also.
Time storm seems pretty glitchy. If you hit thors Lightning rush in the air you can mash heavy and it just stays there. Not a great combo but looks hilarious.
Frank’s qcf.LP does that too. I think it relates to canceling something that basically turns off gravity until you reach an idle/recovery state without going through the latter step.
if you think this game doesn’t give you any combo freedom you haven’t been playing long enough. Like seriously this is about as open of a versus title that there is man.
I don’t play dante so I can’t comment on what’s different about him though.
I’ve tried mind, reality and soul. Mind for him is okay. I still think reality is much better. Reality makes it much harder to get in and gives him a much easier time dealing with teleports. It compliments him offensively and defensively that the other stones can’t really do.
Multiple gimlets are nice but you can reaction tag vs it. The ground version of mind surge comes out wayyy too slow for anything aside from gimmicks and if you train your opponent really well.
Soul stone is really nice too. Hp arrow into soul surge is one of the better ways to use this surge in the game. His storm is pretty good too. Throw up arrows to cover your partner while he/she gets to work on the opponent.
When you say reaction tag does that allow the opponent to escape both characters from getting hit by the gimlet?
I can see where you’re coming from about reality protecting his approach better if it’s that easy to escape gimlets. Soul surge is definitely underrated for zoning characters I think also.
I think you are underplaying mindstone here. A simple ground surge tag into a delayed chain is a great mixup. The opponent can sit there and get hit by the command grab or jump and get hit by the chain. You can also just do ground surge tag into air surge for an “unblockable”
And the command grab… can’t really see it only being gimmicks. Its cancelable into and has the speed of a command overhead except it hits both high and low block instead of just low block.
Now, it won’t be nearly as spammable as other surges, but if you make it a point to use it… it should work a decent amount.
Like most surges though, the best version of the mind surge is going to be surge>tag
Gimlet can be used for just after your opponent tags without frame advantage since they won’t be able to tag out of a tag.
Probably old news but while the wall bounce limit is in place there’s actually a juggle limit of 4 that is untechable. For example with Chris in the corner you can do magnum > power stone > magnum > powerstone, and then they will dizzy out. Super useful in the corner obviously, but also causes a gtfome effect mid screen sending them to the opposite side of the screen. Power stone seems good for Chris.
You guys are real hipsters with this mind stone stuff. The storm is pretty trash compared to the other ones. The surge is also ass. Can’t really keep up with you hipsters.
Can we Discuss Nova, got a friend who plays nova, and im convinced that he has the best mobility in the game giving him a top 5 maybe top 3 placement on the tier list. The ability to maneuver on reaction to counterswitches gives him a ridiculously strong pressure game. Also Teemo just won Canada Cup so the topic should be relevant again. Forsome reason his slide isnt pushblockable, but at least its not low in this game. Not many tools at his disposable, but in this game it feels like ur fighting a flying wolverine.
