Frank/Time tip: You arenāt locked out of Time Surge cross ups just because you donāt want to play Frank! After tagging Frank in for the cross up, perform a standing magic series into qcf.L. This sequence takes enough time for you to tag into your partner to continue the combo, and tacks on 8 hits to the combo counter. That matters for Frank because it translates to +16 hits if he takes 2 pictures and +24 hits if he takes 3.
Isnāt this common knowledge or am I just old and dirty? If you want to play a certain way
you really should practice all the dirtiest shit so you have a good idea of how to counter it
or do it yourself. I remember tournies where people would play their fav all the way up until
they faced tough competition then switch to the dirt. The funniest part is the dirt was actually
their main, the pocket team was the one they played because they liked it. Like in early MvC2
I used to get mad far with OmegaRed/Cable/Sent and got known for my Omega Red, but came
dirt time I was a hated Spiral/Cable/Sent who trained up with some of the best with that team.
Damn team still wasnāt dirty enough, but my hands couldnāt handle Magnus.
A few posts back there was talk about Ironman. On the surface itās easier to say Ultron is better; Ultron is effectively the Dr. Doom of this game in that he works on pretty much every team and has good basic utility across movement, attacks, and supers. I really think Devil Jinās airdash tech with Ironman is going to really make Ironman shine though. Although smart mines look LOL-bad, they take up space on the screen. You can put 3 on the screen, cancel into flight, and put 3 more out before touching the ground. Iāve been messing with putting a few out, cancel into flight, and doing Devil Jinās air-dash tech around them. He also can close air to ground space using repulsor blast. Heās can totally dominate the neutral and probably has some of the best tools for a playing defense in the neutral. Also has the ability to do the HSD glitch fairly easy with every character. Heās definitely being slept on.
I used Ultron for a while because like Dr. Doom (from UMvC3) heās easy to get up to an acceptable effective level. Ironman could be that year 2-3 dominating character.
Donāt take that as a bad thing though as if Time is useless, almost everything has punishable recovery. The idea is to use it intelligently with proper timing to get out of tight spots or move into more favourable positions. If youāre just trying to teleport blindly in the middle of a scramble then yeah youāre probably gonna get hit.
Dante is most certainly Top 5 if not Top 3, he benefits from Active Switch so much and as a solo character heās pretty amazing. I donāt know what Capcom could do to nerf him in future patches to make him more fair because by design heās just that guy.
Thatās the thing about Dante, he just has too many tools to be bad. Like Urienās worst game was probably between Second Impact and Capcom Fighting Jam and he was still pretty useable in both of those games.
Dante went from being basically literally broken in Vanilla Marvel 3 to somewhat honest in Marvel 3, but honest in Marvel still means you have a good amount of bullshit or things that can kill people. You had to work to kill people with Dante, but he could kill people and he had the toolset to go well matchup wise vs most of the cast. There were just characters that were cheaper and had better frames than him on point. Even then he had one of the top 3 assists in the game and a great super to DHC/THC XF pop from so he was a solid point character with OD levels of support. Basically the Doom of the Capcom side.
Funny enough heās probably also the Doom of the Capcom side in Infinte, except heās closer to being the stupidness that he was in Vanilla where he just clearly has toolset and pressure on point thatās above what most of the cast can do. Stuff like super jump rain dance into hammer or helm breaker is just very effective coin flip cross up shit into combos that most of the cast canāt really do anything about. Still has derpy ass confirms where he can fish with s.L that will poke and anti air at the same time into full combos and have even improved some of his less useful moves like drive and tempest. Drive has a much better hit box, does 2 hits up close for lock down into tags. Tempest isnāt affected by pushblock anymore so if you force the opponent to block a tempest you basically lock them down in a cloud of fire that makes the high/low nearly unseeable. Also still has bold cancels so you can whiff/get normals blocked and then cancel them into a jump that lets you block on what should still be frame 1. Meaning even before the tag system he rarely ever needs to commit to anything heās doing.
No longer being able to traditionally call assists on incoming or jump around during incoming plays into Dante being a better point character if you want to start him out also. His likely only legitimate issue is no invincible level 1 and still some of the slower buttons for close range, but the tag system makes it so all of his tools make him a fortress to get in on and then can just tag out of everything for someone else to set shit up off of.
LOL⦠I think Dante is number 1 with a bullet. The on,y arguable character up there with him are ultron and dorm and neither imho functions like Dante. Dante can basically derp around and kill your team with his backturned while sniffing the roses⦠thatās how big his hitboxes are and how easy and numerous his confirms are.
Outside that he still has a better toolkit than basically anyone.
He probably has a bad matchup here or there and by bad I mean a matchup or 2 where he actually has to work for his win⦠like against zero maybe. But at this point Dante is like a dr.doom character but with amazing point play as well while still retaining mind boggling derp.
If he didnāt wear a tranchcoat and werenāt a demon Iād be using him.
This was a concept from MvC3 I found interesting and want to bring up here: Who are the top 3/5/10 (arbitrary numbers) characters at the start of the round? You arenāt getting tagged in, both characters are even in resources and positioning is up for grabs. My draft list (ignoring DLC, Panther could probably be on here) in no order
