Morrigan has the best tridash in the game if that’s what you are looking for.
I’m gonna throw a curve ball but I’m gonna say Spider-Man. He’s a pixie, he has by far has some of the fastest and scariest mixups in the game, he has an instant overhead worthy of a trijump, he has possibly the best mobility in the game, he has a multi hitting low… Other characters have trijumps and beams but that doesn’t really define their play style, Spider-Man has the ability to run circles around people and that’s what Magneto’s gameplay was all about.
“I wanna play someone like magneto.”
“Okay ultron literally has drone trijump mixup”
“Wtf I hate ultron”
Spidey’s cr.LP is not a low.
I don’t see Jedah there…
I’m still going to play Team Darkstalkers on the side and will probably pick up JeTony also. Wanna mess with Tonys jab flight options and figure out why Chris G never uses smart mines.
Just the way the game is going you need at least one character with derpy ground bounce and capture state shit from the air and Dante covers that. With JeTony Iron Man covers that with repulsor ray. Space Storm basically is anti setplay since you can call on it anytime you’re about to get setplayed and lock then into your own setplay. Makes up decently for no invincible level 1
I appreciate the feedback (and not so good feedback). I haven’t seen too many Novas and Spiders yet. The ones I have seen are garbage (minus Justin of course).
I hate when you try and work in new strategy into your gameplay and get wtfpwned against autopilot.
That being said, I think the new characters are are dope, and with them will come more variety in online/offline gameplay.
MH really looks beast. I think I have to rock her.
Yeah, one of the primary functions of the space stone is as a ridiculous reversal for the storm.
Chris g doesn’t use smart mines for many reasons, same reason I don’t, but to list some:
Huge startup
Can be reflected back at tony
Don’t last a super long time unlike RR’s mines
Don’t tend to cause either massive damage or an easy conversion unlike rockets mines
Only really decent at regular jump and ground jump level
Takes a lot of time to set the damn things, at which point lots of other shit can be going on.
No real setplay to use them in so far, but setplay is probably the only thing they will eventually be good at.
There are only 4 theoretical ways I see to use these so far:
- In some sort of set play setup like with Dante or a beam super where tony can throw a bunch of these out to control some specific area of space as the recovers
- In combos of some sort
- As a tag to cover some area of space as a shield for another character to hide behind
- As a way to protect IM on his in via boxdash.
The problem with most of this is that it is still going to be ineffective without the right setups, or it’s just super slow in general.
Smart mines can be reflected? That sucks. That automatically makes them useless, really.
I guess at minimum they’ll be good for incoming set ups, but everything can be good for incoming so yeah.
Yeah, it really sucks. But I’m not sure if they can be reflected once they are set. But if they are still moving they can be reflected.
-edit
I forgot about a couple things they have theoretical purposes of use:
They bounce off the wall if they hit a corner (probably more of a nerf than actually being usable since Yi can’t just setup smart mines above a cornered opponent)
Tony can dash immediately after a min and if he’s close enough he will crossup with the smart mine… however this probably follows the “thanos rule” not allowing crossups from your own projectile. But it’s hard to setup anyways.
And another weakness I forgot to mention:
Smartmines dissipate if tony gets hit.
Yeah you’re right. Once they are set they can’t be reflected, but that means you always have to have them out at certain space so that the will land in the area where they can’t reflect them, but can’t always count on that. Plus go away if he’s hit when reality surge stays around.
Setplay sounds like the best bet, although I’m sure with tag there may be some interesting stuff neutral. Not the best special move but they’re still better than MVC3 bombs.
Dr.Strange has a ghetto Reality Surge with tag canceled HK daggers of denak. Could do wonders for his viability if the meta moves toward stones with a stronger Storm.
That’s actually what I pegged to be one of his strongest tools from the outset.
I’d combine that with beam super>tag strange> 3 x orbs> HK dagger crossup/non crossup… if it works combo, if not flames of faltine crossup.
So basically 2 mixups off of a beam super if he has the time.
Smart mines bounce of the wall.
The dirtiest mixup I have is teleport with Thanos then use Time Stone to tag. My Ryu appears on the side Time Stone was used on instead of where Thanos is so odds are they aren’t block me. Only work like twice before the catch on.
What is everyone’s opinion on the HSR glitch? Should they keep it that way and turn it into a “feature” high level players can exploit or should they fix it to prevent TODs?
I don’t know if it’s only exploitable which certain characters (Thanos seems to be in most TOD combos I’ve seen so far), in which case it would definitely make sense to fix it to prevent the entire tournament scene from only playing those characters.
I’ve seen one with Chun Li / Ultron. I tried to replicate it and wasn’t able to do it at least once. Opponent was always flying away.
It’s possible with other characters, that much has been confirmed. My friend has been testing it but I know there’s one with Dorm/Nova floating out there somewhere. Dante as well with somebody else. I’m trying to get one with firebrand but I’m afraid my team composition won’t allow it.
This is just a hunch, but I believe the hitstun glitch is also what allows Spider-Man’s infinite to work. The small gap where the reality ball hits, to the point of the web ball recapturing, is the window of opportunity where hit stun reset is negated, and thus the game ignores the fact that the opponent has been captured more than once per combo.
