I couldn’t tell it happened so quick and it’s hard to replicate. Basically I KO’d a drone far on the left side of the screen with a knockdown. The drone got flung across the screen and bounced away about half screen just as the next drone was coming in, leaving me off screen. So to bring me back in, the game used forced momentum for me to catch up, but I was mashing c.lk just for the hell of it and essentially came on screen while whiffing c.lk, I had no restrictions on pressing buttons.
How reflecting and switching may shape Marvel vs Capcom Infinite
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g52fj94lNZk
Interesting video. I think we’ll see at top level play people reflecting back reflected fireballs to counter the counter at times. If they can confirm it was reflected and react.
The video says zoners will have trouble without having another zoner with them, but I don’t think that’ll be quite the case. Someone like Zero could easily have Dr.Strange partnered with him and Dr.Strange just sets out a bunch of projectiles that he tags Zero into to start pressure. Now that the game isn’t as TOD heavy and the zoning characters seem to have better tools to protect themselves in neutral than before, I think it should be a good team up or one of the more common team ups. Zoning character as the “assist” and point character going in after they flood the screen with a tag in.
I said keepaway for keepaway’s sake. i.e. not letting you get close at all like MorriDoom.
Top level Morrigan however is more about trapping and being able to punish an opponents attempts to get past the bullet hell. Which brings it back to what many would call “traditional” Marvel footsies - fill the screen with hitboxes, and then find a way to open your opponent up.
Morridoom like said isn’t really keepaway. More trapping and flooding although she can do a bit of keepaway, it’s not long term or her main plan.
Time Stone Morrigan I believe will have really oppressive zoning if it’s anything like what I’ve seen people mess around with in the time storm. You can shoot the fireballs back to back so fast that it looks worse than SFV Chun’s beta trigger with the rapid fireballs. With them coming on both sides. Reflect will likely do absolutely nothing and it looks like people will have to resort to running away to deal with it unless they have a bomb/screen clearing special or super.
Arthur, Ghost Rider and Hawkeye were the only real characters that were designed with far zoning/keepaway in mind. They were put in to UMVC3 specifically because they wanted to improve the long range game in Ultimate. Just the game mechanics and they way they were designed made it difficult for it to work. The best zoners were the hybrids that could also rushdown or trap. Which should be the same in Infinite although some strong zoners will likely be great assists and great teams for other rushdown characters. Can bulldog with a zoning character and then threaten to tag in a rushdown character in front of their projectiles if they get too close. Basically allowing a zoning character to safely become a rushdown character at any moment. Instead of trying to win a slow, ranged war that’s never ideal in an oppressive game like Marvel.
Even in 2, where you had a better balance of playstyles, good zoning came from either something busted like being able to cash out 5 bars to kill, or was predicated on runaway.

You definitely didn’t
For sure looking forward to the day/week/month 1 shenanigans of having a point character with a beam or lockdown super and tagging in a high/low mixup character. X/Jedah gonna be super popular regardless, personally looking at dorm/dante/zero as battery point characters, maybe a couple more depending on how the game pans out
Time stone morrigan is defeated by down back because chip is negligible in this game
Up back would be a bit more likely since down back would basically get you locked down for a free mix up as she dashes in or just tag in to the other character.
It’s more so about how it will basically trap you into not moving and if you press any attack that isn’t an invincible super you’ll lose a lot of life.

Just to point out that there’s vulnerability frames on jump now so you can’t chicken guard, you could easily get hit in those frames and lose a lot of life also.
Yeah I was more so suggesting a preemptive jump back before she activates. Once that shit is active don’t think people are going to have too many places to go without a blow up/invincible super

Unless she’s activated Storm this is one opportunity where Space Storm could be used as a defensive tool.
That is why Space Storm will be strong as it’s the anti bullshit Storm. If somebody has some cheap shit, put them in the storm and it probably removes it. Plus keeps them from using just about all meter options that aren’t supers.
A boxed Zero with meter isn’t worried. Odds are he will still have the advantage unless someone finds a way to completely shut down his Sougenmu projectile wall.
I’ll be interested to see exactly where the cap is on chip and how long it takes for the cap to reset. I’m thinking that a boxed Zero should be worried because chip damage still exists, you just have to use a reset to continue damage in exactly the same way you do regular damage. If Zero is in the box of shame, someone with good long range attacks can either chip him or beat him out trying to spam Hadangaki. It’s not like he has any movement options, someone like GhostRider/Space would be good because if a character like Zero does try to sit there and spam projectiles those long range pokes will slowly eat away at him, along with any extra chip along with it. If you have a super athletic character like Zero rushing in when he’s boxed might not be the best of ideas.
And then again they can always switch…
Theory Fighter for this game is impossible.
It seems like the Soul Surge has a lot more range than I remembered? Maybe it can be used as a discount beam for pokes? Giving someone like Arthur or Morrigan a projectile without any travel time could be pretty beastly.

“I’m not trapped in here with you. You’re trapped in here with me.”
Does anyone have some good info and video on the Mind Stone, specifically the stun?
