MvC3: You are Defeated: The Magneto Combo Thread

so I saw a new variation of the staircase combo and had to try it. I saw marlinpie and yipes do it. After the TAC, magneto pauses and goes for addf :h:, fly cancel, :h:, addf :h:, adf :h:, addf :h:, adf :h:, unfly :h:, st :h:, hyper grav. I actually prefer this because its way easier but I can only do it in the corner. It seems like the fly doesn’t last long as the 1st staircase combo. How do you guys do it midscreen and get the character at a lower height distance. There usually too high.

dude this tac combo i’ve done with sentinel is ridiculous;
‎~Michael Flately Combination{Sentinel/Magnus}~
Fly [j.:h: j:s: (delay a bit before launch/about half way through the ground bounce animation) sj xx j.:h: Fly j.:h: Unfly j.:h: -land- :s: sj j.:m: j.:m: DJ j.:m: j.:h: UP:s: j.:h: Fly addf j.:h: add j.:h: add/f j.:h: adf j.:h: unfly j.:h: s.:h: 214:l: sjub addf j.:h: j.:h: 214:l: sjub addf j.:h: j.:h: sjub addf j.:h: j.:h:] xx DHC HSF/ Squeeze

[Beginning to end builds 4.5 bars]
does over 1.4 and the shit builds crazy meter. try it if any of you guys still use big papa pump

Hey guys dont know if this has been thought of yet, but I made a combo that does the same amount of damage the ROM does and is a lot easier to do. Pretty much all I did was take the first part of the Magnetic Blast combo and then found a way to link it to the fly fierce loop.

(Bear with me its my first time writing out a combo on this site)
cr.:l:, cr.:m:, cr.:h:, :s:, sj j.:h:, adf slight pause j.:h:, :u::uf::f::l: (Magnetic Blast L), slight pause :s:, sj. j. :h:, adf j.:h:, :qcb::s: (Fly), j.:l:, j.:h:, [adf j.:h:]x4, :qcb::s: (Unfly), j.:h:, s.:h:, :qcb::l: (Hyper Grav L)

Meter Built: 1.5
Damage: 508,000+
Works midscreen and in corner

(After adding 3 reps of the hyper grav loop)
Meter Built: 2.25
Damage: 610,000+

Now for some key info. First thing is that after the relaunch after the Magnetic Blast you have to have to hit the j.:h: as soon as possible. You want Magneto to be as low to the ground as can be.The second thing is you have to do the fierce loop part as fast as possible. If you don’t they can drop out during the loop or when you do the unfly + :h: part. Lastly, you can start this almost any hit confirm. I’ve dont it after a grab, drones, Magnetic Blast, etc.

There are also two things to note about doing the combo midscreen. First you don’t have to do the pause after the first air dash. I do it anyway just for consistency. Secondly you have to dash on the ground after the Magnetic Blast

ha, yeah man, this is known :stuck_out_tongue: Check out anima922’s channel for a good compilation of all that is already known about magneto swag.

I used to use that BnB as well. It doesn’t off of a Tatsu confirm though.

Darn oh well, thought I was all nice and stuff for figuring it out . His combo is little easier cause he can just use j.:s: and then pick them up with Wesker jealous of Wesker users. Thanks for showing me his channel though, he has some amazing reset options in there that I’m gonna steal hehe

Aww that sucks. Is that why you stopped using it as your BnB?

Oooo thanks for this I’ma try it when I get home tonight

I was just shitty at timing the Magnetic Blasts and I was dropping it on several characters. The one I use now is almost the same but instead of jH adf jH Magnetic Blast L land S into fly combo, i do jH addf jH cH S into fly combo.

You could combine them both. Do the mag blast L, but instead of just S, do cH then S. But yea, I don’t use mag blast in combos either.

Yea I feel you I only do that combo on characters like Thor and Tron so I can get that extra damage before I DHC into Dante. Hot damn I’m gonna miss the DHC glitch in Ultimate

Okay so real talk.

I finally found some guys at my college who are interested in making a scene where I live, and they are pretty good. I usually lose but don’t get bodied, which makes me happy since I have been really casual with this game up until now. NOW I really want to get a serious magneto, along with two other characters obviously :P) but to be honest I have a hard time working out combos. I get the button presses, but apparently the timing for me is really holding me back. The only loop I can get down with any success is the airdash loop, and only a few reps of that before I am too low to continue, but i feel if I input the buttons any quicker I am doing it too quick and it doesn’t register my input. Also When I try to pput in serious training time I notice I go through three phases which are: Warm up(which lasts atleast half of the training session), Then I get hyper on my shit and make progress , doing better than I usually do, then its like I can feel my eyes glaze over and it’s like I can’t execute for shit. At first I thought it was my lighting or posture, but that didnt help. Then I thought if i focused on a different character that would help but it doesnt really. All I could figure is I have to take a break for a few hours ( usually the rest of the day since I practice/play after school or work ). Just makes me upset because I want to do well and not sure if I am not seeing something obvious that more experienced players know or what, haha.

Anyway I figured if I just keep practicing and stay positive I can only get better.

W.E.M.P.:Okay since you’re trying to progress that’s a good thing. A lot of in here will help with any combo you’re trying to do.

To everyone else, me and my boy Dean are going to finally make some match vids(unlike last time where I told yall I was going to upload) and here’s a little something as proof:
(Dean testing out our dazzle with an ordinary Akuma combo.)

Just letting u guys know , this combo works in the last build of umvc3 (a bit harder)

Very cool to hear, that combo was one of my favorites but I could never get it reliably, especially on the cr. LMHS starter version, it’d always fail right before the last launcher, where you do j. MH xx L magnetic blast. They would always tech out after the j. m before the j. h hit.

HELL YES!! Thanks for sharing, I’m so glad one of Mag’s more damaging combos made it into Ultimate. Gonna get this combo down right now.

ok, wow. There’s like, no reason not to use that now, seeing that unflying into tempest isn’t even necessary if you have an OTG assist.

Alioune, you’re the man. (Also, I assume tempest is his mashable hyper.)

Arcade sticks are such trash.

Is there anyone here that can do ROM Fierce loop consistently on a Sanwa stick? This shit is seriously crippling my team. Something as simple as pressing “Down then Up” quickly has never taken so much concentration. Coupled with the game’s buffering system - if I have the stick in my lap, I get Hyper Grav trying to Super Jump (2368 H) or Disrupter trying to ADDF way too often. Makes me want to throw the stick across the room. Execution goes up considerably on a stable surface, but I can’t rely on that. Half the shit that’s considered hard in this game is hard because the damn buffering system. UGH.

I seriously don’t get how Marn does that shit so consistently.
/salty rant

With sticks, less is more. Familiarize yourself with the dead zone (the space where you can move and not get any directional inputs), then feel out all the microswitches, imagine pressing each one is like hitting a tiny tiny sanwa button inside the stick, and to do combos you’re typing, and neutral direction is home row.

Thanks for the tips. I know nothing’s going to fix this outside grinding it out, but I had to vent somewhere. The buffer window in this game really makes this harder than it should be, though, which is ironic.

It’s hard to be deliberate with hitting the microswitches on tech that needs to be done so quickly. I have zero problems doing it left to right. I have none of the aforementioned problems in that direction - it’s right to left that gives me these issues. this leads me to believe it’s a problem with the way I’m holding the stick, or something.

Doing shit Right to Left on stick is a bit harder than Left to Right. It really is just practice, but I think both the hardness and the practice thing are the same on pad.

Just gotta grind it out. Eventually you get used to the buffer times and learn to use them to your advantage.

EDIT: Alioune’s combo, now with a tutorial by him: http://www.elive.pro/en/watch/q0gmJyRRk7ZO

Awesome news to hear, Alioune.

Even though I could never get the jump M H Magnetic Blast to connect :[ . To the lab!

Are all of the Magnetic Blasts the light version?
