MvC3: With great power comes great dexterity: combos and set ups

3 of spidey’s non meter using moves cause a state where your opponent is OTG - jS after launch, spider sting/bite (causing OTG after ground bounce, or just OTG if you’ve already used your groundbounce), and web throw. All of these can be followed up by an otg assist into crawler assault

however, sometimes crawler assault ends too fast and you can’t dhc out with assists out

cr LMH, L web swing, jMH, sH, H webswing, sMH, H spider sting/bite, L spidersting, crawler assault

the following combo is kind of advanced. I can’t do it on a consistent basis.
crLMH, L web swing, jMH, sH, forward web zip jH,S, (cross under) s.S, jumpcancel web throw, see how close you are to the corner and H spidersting/bite into L spidersting into crawler assault or otg assist into H spidersting/bite L spidersting/crawler assault

or you could use normal double webthrow+assist combos

After you mentioned this I tried this out and had this very problem, and then I remembered my UWT combo. Replacing Web Shot L with Web Shot H gives me just enough time for X-23 to recover and then DHC after the wall bounce from Crawler Assault.

I usually don’t use meter with spidey on my spidey/sent/x23 team unless I can kill with max spider, lulz

And now I will solve everyone’s problem with comboing into CA after :l: Spider Sting: cr. :h:

Inputting a cr. :h: after :h: Spider Sting~:h: and then canceling into :l: Spider Sting makes the window going into Crawler Assault so easy that all you have to is push two attack buttons immediately after landing the hit on the :l: Spider Sting. Once I get a practical method to recording my hands, I’ll throw this one up too.

Hi everyone! I am new to SRK! I main Spidey, Shuma and Deadpool(But mostly Spidey) I hope I can learn more and get better at the game. Anyways here is a combo I sort of adapted from what I have learned from others works. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGd1bAJV4dI

Well welcome to the boards true believer… ok so I’ve been watching old Stan Lee clips… anyways if youre looking to get into Spidey youve come to the right place. The members here are always trying to help other Spidey players with what they need to know. Also check out the other threads for useful info plus of course Youtube you can check out Airborne’s channel for lots of useful vids to help with execution and whatnot.

LOL, wouldn’t my channel help with execution if it had footage of my hands??? XDDDD

Welcome to the boards, Bees! I’m always ecstatic to have new people pop up around here.

If you do wish to take a gander at my videos, which are comprised of some of the most advanced combos our character has to offer to the game right now, go ahead:

www.youtube.com/user/AirborneIsGolden EVERYONE SUBSCRIBE PLEASE!!!

I’ll eventually get some hands up there… Eventually. =\

youre the only person I seen who still records with inputs displayed  thats why I said it. All I show is damage, theory, and tech

It’s the only way I can help people with timing right now. =( I REALLLLLY WANNA SHOW MY SUPER COOL TIMING FOR cr.:h: xx :l: Spider Sting xx Crawler Assault =(((((

What way is that? If it’s the way you posted earlier that’s the only way to cancel the :l: spider sting into CA

Not actually… I’ve managed to mash the directional inputs fast as fuck and get it without the cr.:h:. XD Also, I somehow canceled :h: Spider Sting into CA today… it didn’t land obviously, but I haven’t been able to replicate it since… no idea how I pulled it off.

I think spider sting has 3 grounded frames. That’s what I gather from the frame data anyway since spider bite has 3 frame startup. I tested out my hypothesis by doing maximum spider at different times (much easier cancel than CA) and you can get the grounded version to come out if cancelled really early in the move (it moves slower than the air version). Another hypothesis could be that the spider sting has similar properties to a jump since there are 3 pre-jump frames on the ground. Either way 3 frame links are still pretty tight.

It’s funny you bring up properties  all spideys moves act differently depending on how you land them. For example if you hit the opponent with a grounded spider sting/bite then jab them they will roll but if you juggle them with spider sting/bite then jab they will air recover. Changes certain combos as I found out last night.

Hi guys, I was wondering…after you do your usual Spidey combo that leaves the opponent in the air, can you do Dante’s Jam Session which locks them in the air and UWT?

Yes you can

As much as it doesn’t even feel necessary with the amount of damage that Spider-Man does, I saw that video that xero just put up that made it to front page and saw Spidey FINALLY connect a DHC glitch. Now when I try to recreate it with Spidey/Wesker it doesn’t seem to work (still get normal scaled hitstun/damage after the web ball xx maximum spider dhc wesker). Is there a specific timing or trick to forcing the DHC glitch to happen, or does it only work with Zero for some bullshit reason? Sorry if this stuff is documented somewhere, I tried digging around a bit with no success.

The setup required for each individual DHC glitch is different for several characters. We honestly have no clue why some combos work into DHC glitch with some characters, and they don’t with others. @____@ Makes no sense.

The universal setup I came up with for characters who can actually connect with it from that height is exactly as it was shown in the video.

j:m: j:s: c:m: c:h: xx :l: web swing j:h: j:s: :s: j:m: j:h: xx :l: web ball xx MS DHC…

This was the easiest setup since it is still decent damage by itself and it allows web ball to connect and hold slightly while Spidey gets to the wall to activate super. I havent tried it with Wesker but I’ve gotten it to work with Zero both with a regular launch and that jumping combo you saw, tagging Spiderman back in to dash in and start a new combo, Trish, Dormammu, Phoenix, Felicia, Morrigan, Hsien Ko, Doom (very tricky and/or meter wasting), Chun li, Tron (Servebot), Wolverine, Hulk, and a few others. I know there’s a video up that shows Taskmaster using the glitch up also off of Spiderman with a different setup as well but I think this setup should still work as well

Oh as for the science behind it I’m still trying to figure that out.

I’m not a Spidey player but I fought someone yesterday who put me in a setup that seemed inescapable on my team (Wesk, Tasky, Akuma). Was wondering if there is a way out. He would combo, knockdown, OTG with Wesker assist and then (I think) web ball. He would then do the Ultimate Web Throw super, which to my understanding counts as a throw in the air? Because none of my chars can air dash, all I could do was block, which obviously would do nothing since it counts as a throw. Any way out of this?

It’s very escapable, yet that seems to be unknown to the rest of the community. XD We understand how you feel. Here’s the list though:
