MvC3: With great power comes great dexterity: combos and set ups

Time to get into the lab with those combos! I’ll add various BnB’s, viable set ups and 100%'s as times goes on.

Bread and Butter

I don’t know if this is just me or what, but Spidey can’t make use of his Standing M on crouching opponents. Guess this wouldnt be much for a problem except even after landing a Crouching Light, I was unable to connect with a Standing M on most of the cast, exluding Hulk, Dormammu and Sent. Not saying this is a huge problem, but still…had to drop him.

Just do c.M after c.L? It even comes out faster, allowing for extra follow-ups. s.M just has more range.

Last one needs testing but in theory works. c.H is special cancelable and allows for Web Ball and Web Swing to connect so my assumption is Sting will work. Will test in a bit.

TsuKiyoMe, those combos with a s.M in the between wont hit unless it on a big character. If the player understands the weakness, they just have to crouch while in hitstun and the s.M whiffs. Test it out…its bulls shit. I had this problem with Dante, Chun, Felicia and Joe, so I’m assuming this the case for most of the cast.

Anyone else hate how Web Swing is a DP motion??

I do, I hate it so much, I keep messing it up at the worst times.

Pratman: I’m pretty sure you are right. I’ve been using Captain America for practice. You should be able to sub s.M with c.M instead.

Pretty basic, but I did j.h, st.l st. m st. h xx web ball xx crawler assault XFC st. h xx spider sting, spider bite, x23 otg assist to relaunch. I think you can add another st. h spider sting before the otg, but it wasn’t working for me, gotta try it more.

Ammy and Arthur too. It was annoying as I picked up Spidey mid-session last night.

It whiffs on Trish too.

In the corner you have to use a H webswing xx super instead of M.

Most practical damaging combo i’ve found so far with spiderman. Does about 610-621k.

With an OTG assist ( I was using sentinels) I’d do M,M,H, S at the end, call sentinel, and do a Web throw if I had no meter (615k) or a Spider sting xx Maximum spider (About 700k)

He can get a tiny bit of more damage, but the combo I listed is already hard enough, and doing much else makes it too inconsistant to be a bnb.

Right now I’m using it as my bnb.

Noobish question: Is that BnB hard? I use Vega in Super and have to get down 1 framers, should I be okay with Spidey’s BnBs?

2 completely different things. SSF4 execution doesn’t really carry over in this game. It’s all fast paced chains instead of slowed down 1 frame links.

Its pretty difficult, I’m going to go for a more consistent bnb myself

Once comfortable I will throw in the spider stings. The most difficult part of these combo’s is the web swing, DP motion backwards in a small frame I often go to fast you literally have to tell yourself to press nothing until the dp motion is finished. If it were QCB I would be bugging out out with spiderman right now…

Just to clarify this ONLY works with light web ball. He’s also got an amusing ultimate web throw setup in

Got my copy a couple days ago, I’ve been messing around with spiderman and came up with this combo;

c.L, c.M, s.H xx hard web swing (on some characters it needs to be medium if outside the corner), j.M, j,H (land) s.M, s.H xx hard spider sting, spider bite, launch, j.M, j.H xx hard web swing, j.M, j.H, j.S can be followed up with a good OTG assist for an ultimate web throw set up.

Without the UWT is does about 500,000 and about 800,000 with it. Also builds a full bar. When I get a chance I can get the exact numbers.

Damn, 800,000? That’s enough to kill Zero/Akuma/Amaterasu and with only one meter.
