MvC3: With great power comes great dexterity: combos and set ups

In my limited testing earlier today before work, I was starting to question if this was kind of viable for every ender or just specific enders. I wasn’t really able to get a follow up with Taskmaster or Wesker going consistently but I was able to for Wesker. It just seemed based off the openers you used, I’m just simply too far out of range to follow up for the enders on my team (Task/Wesker). The few times I did make a connection with Wesker, it made me wonder if the damage was worth it (It’s only 245k~ if I recall correctly before the DHC glitch). Granted, there might be other ways to do it as I was trying to see what I could do in 10 minutes…there’s probably double webswing or aerial based setups that I have not tried.

I patiently await more information from you and hopefully you can fill me in if I’m doing something wrong here.

you can do it in the air allowing for pretty much anybody to continue off it. for an example one here’s one for task (could be way better but i threw this together really fast)

i think an issue with it is that the untech time for l web ball is like monstrously tiny and seems to scale with hitstun scaling really hard so you can’t get too much damage off it with standard combos (also because web balls startup is giant)

maybe off a corner web throw combo instead of ending with web throw tk max spidey you could do l web ball crawler assault and it might give enough time for it to work

also wesker gets some pretty respectable damage off the dumb setup in the vid (or any sj height air setup) because he gets to do his full BNB off it since he doesnt use up his pistol shot to otg with (you start with cr.m or standing h to catch them while falling)

I get the spin, but my damage never rescales. is my timing off? I dont really understand what im doing wrong :frowning:

I’ll post more info when I get back from physical training. Just wanting to let you guys know Ive tested your questions well before you posted them if Airborne is on I’m sure he can give you some of my insight while I’m out if not I’ll be back in an hour.

I hope you dont mind me putting that on my page since I was gonna have Airborne make a vid for me to post up but you beat us to the punch :lol: with a stronger character than I had chose, well as far as execution goes.

Anyways my discoveries are that the easiest setup is in fact getting them in the air and doing web ball xx MS. Now since I just found this I havent tried extensive combos yet since I wanted to double check all my info which I’m glad I did. This time when I tested with sentinel I could never get the damage to reset with the combo I posted. Then I tried the air combo web ball xx MS method on sentinel and it didnt work either BUT when I tested

c:l: c:m: c:h: xx :l: web swing j:m: j:m: j:h: j:l: j:m: j:h: xx :l: web ball xx MS DHC HSF

10 out of 10 times damage reset. Now to be quite frank I dont know what causes the glitch because I tried a ground web ball into all setups and could never get the damage to reset but like I told Airborne I thought it funny Spidey meets all the requirements but cant start the glitch. Anyways characters I did notice it worked with are:

Dormammu
Trish
Tron
Zero
Dr. Doom (certain setup and must perform his lvl 3 to do it, but my execution was shit yesterday so standby on this)
Sentinel with certain setups
Taskmaster
Wesker
Hulk (all supers)
Hsien ko

People I havent had it work on yet include
Wolverine
Thor (does he even have an OTG)
Phoenix
Morrigan

People I need to test it with include
Dante (Devil’s Trigger I believe its called)
Skrull (The controllable flame one not sure its name, obviously corner only)
She Hulk (Air throw super, may be corner only)
X-23 (Dirt Nap)
Haggar (Either body slam as it works in all the other setups or whiff his SPD)
Ammy (Slow down super)
Spencer (BIONIC ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRMMMMM!!! maybe corner only)
Felicia (Partner super)

I still have A LOT more testing to do with this but now that its out there I will be working on new combos implementing it to create new stronger teams with him while learning the rest of the cast as well seeing as I’m still on my day 1 team (Spidey/Zero/Doom) and my day 67 team (Spidey/Doom/Tron). All other teams and or characters youve seen me use have been simply for testing reasons. Tons more ideas coming yall’s way and I’ll be purchasing a new capture card (hauppage hd pvr) so yall have better quality videos and can see the numbers and what not plus hopefully get rid of some of the horrible sound quality. Sorry to keep yall waiting.

LOL, THANK GOD I don’t have to upload this. You guys have NO idea how salty I was trying to get this to work with Zero yesterday (and I fucking hate the character, btw. Overhyped and not nearly enough damage on his combos…)

I’ll probably have my hyped-up shit up by tonight… I hope. Let me just say this: from midscreen, I can kill Wolverine without using ANY meter, aNy X-Factor, or ANY assists.

Gotta say this is pretty friggin cool. I’m not gonna be able to test it myself in the next few days, but based on the juggle you did with Taskmaster, it should be easy to hit with Thor and Jean without an OTG. Just wait till they get near the ground…

I didn’t get a chance to test it after work today because I had other things that I needed to attend to but if I’m not mistaken, can’t you do that Tasky combo regardless of hitstun decay in the combo? I believe that this works… I’m just still a bit skeptical that’s all. It definitely works much better in the air though that way then just a straight grounded Web Swing.

Yes, but Shield Slash doesn’t do 95k unless it’s unscaled. ;O

WITH THAT BEING SAID, LET’S REMEMBER THE EASIEST WAY TO SET UP DHC TRICK GUYS
some dude with non hitting super: magic series into exchange to spiderman, into web ball (prob could get H web ball to work), DHC TRICK EZ MODE

spidey has some really super ass hitstun scaling on his stuff (esp web ball) so if you were able to do it without the reset it’d drop once you got to the air part with task

the real comedy is that if you just had taskmaster on point youd get equal or more damage for less meter (positive meter gain, actually)

dante devil trigger works, spencer bionic maneuvers definitely works

i’m trying to think of characters that pair up with spidey that would really benefit from this, like spidey/wesker is good stuff overall since neither of them are really bar heavy and the dhc glitch lets them do one touch kills regardless of positioning (potentially, anyhow) maybe spidey/task or spidey/deadpool.spidey/doom with a setup using sphere flame to whiff and otg combo off of works too i guess.

like the damage before the glitch isnt really super dangerous it’s just kinda… middling because you dont get a super off before the scaling but it’s still pretty scary because it opens up team possibilities

well if you think about it spiderman does shit damage himself. the only reason hes terrifying is because web throw doesnt scale. doesnt matter to me :lol: thats some good damage. even still youre getting like 400K just doing the bnb stuff so in any attempt to counter where you cant land a great spidey combo you now have a stronger air option IMO. as for doom you cant reset with him unless you are low to the ground, using sphere flame, the bubble burst before they hit the ground. I didnt know about phoenix. I thought she could just hit I’ll try using c:m: but I cant see this as something being used on a phoenix team ATM due to people being too afraid to use meter with anyone while she’s on the team. Lastly, that combo Airborne has is the truth weve been talking about it for a while and it’s cool phantasy we all have a life outside of this we need to take care of. I’ll save it for the CV.

So, for the first time today, I successfully performed the Web Throw Infinite in match… On Tron. What makes my combo “the truth” as Xero calls it is that I discovered 2 new ways to perform the cross-up Web Throw so that it is SOOOO much easier to perform. I’m trying to get a recording of my hands, but I was raging up until about 3:30 last night about how my laptop does NOT have a firewire port. That’s the one method I have right now of uploading the footage in great quality. T___T

I will try and upload my hands with either the SD card on my camera or my phone tonight, so I won’t have to keep you all waiting.

Also, I fucking love Spidey/Dormammu/Wesker as a team. The Wesker OTG assist allows me to get 500k+ damage off of air throws, and you all already know how obsessed I am with Spidey/Dormammu synergy. My issue is that I need help layering my shit up some more so that my rushdown game is safer and more intimidating, while my defensive game is… well, safe.

Only 500k? I get 950K from air throws from Weskar OTG

Sorry, I use 1 or less bars in my air throws, not that expensive shit. <3

LOL what makes you assume I use more than 1 bar?

And 500k is doing a simple ABC combo into hyper from Wesker OTG. Surely you can be more creative?

Been lazy as hell, so I just Web Throw-> Maximum Spider. Why would I want to be more creative with damage from an OTG post air throw when I’m too busy working on Web Throw Infinite Set-ups from every position on the stage?

What’s you reason for bashing me for absolutely no reason on the boards of a character that generally doesn’t get more than 80k from a throw? /run-onsentencerant

Well considering air throws scale a lot, especially Spidey’s, I find it doubtful you are getting 950K with Spiderman using only one more assist without burning massive meter, web throws or not.
