MvC3: With great power comes great dexterity: combos and set ups

hmm thats interesting. zero cant be crossed up. ive tried multiple set ups for it and spidey just cant cross him up in the corner

Xero, do you have a capture card? You need to get that shiz on video! I’ll add what you’ve found to the first post when I’ve got time.

Shuma is another one that I don’t think the Web Throw loop works on.

no i dont have a capture card but if you know a way for me to connect my laptop up to my 360 and record through my web cam that way id be more than willing to record.

so far zero, shuma, modok are the only three i have seen the loop not work on.

awesome. i think i should invest in a capture card or something but im now sitting at 797.3K of damage.

j.:m: j.:h: dash in s.:m: s.:h: xx web zip j.:m: j.:h: j.:s: s.:m: s.:h: xx:rdp::l: j:m: j.:h: j.:s: s.:m: s.:h: xx:dp::h:,:h:, s.:m: c.:h: :s: xx:hcb::ub::h:, TK MS

also should mention that that was performed on jill.

MIND = BLOWN!

i was doing it too early at first but this makes it piss easy! awesome!

also something i noticed playing a freind last night using my solo UWT setup which until last night was going quite well (against characters with no air dash or double jump.

cr.abc, l webswing, a.mms, st.h l webball > uwt

anyway, he plays cap, and shehulk, both prime targets for UWT, and i noticed on one particular setup, cap airdashed backwards out of it.

me : “cap has an airdash???” (which was news to me)
him : “no”

so i went on the training mode and replicated and mashed the shit out the buttons while on the receiving end of the setup, and both cap and shehulk can both airdash backwards and occasionally escape. i have no idea how this happens. try it yourself and mash the shit out of your dash buttons while in the setup. they can even airdash forwards and hit spidey out of the startup animation. any one with any explanations?

that was on the front page when the game first came out. theres remnants of the old build still left in this game that can work under certain situations.

ahh ok wasnt sure, i imagine it wouldnt be too much of a problem anyway you gotta mash the buttons like crazy anyhow.

Does the s.:m: whiff on the dash in against shorter opponent’s like Amaterasu? If so, does subbing cr.:m: work instead?

hmm id have to check that but if it does then yes sub it.

spiderman + doom, 1 stock:
1.073.900 Damage in the corner. Seems like it works against everyone, didn’t fully test it however.

What does the ~ on :h:~:h: stand for?

It’s just a common notation used for the inputs of something like Spider Sting xx Spider Bite.

Anyone find options to cross up an opponent in the corner after a combo has already been started? Midscreen you can c.lmh, l swing, j.mmh land and dash under s.mh web throw into corner, but the spacing is an issue. It would be great to have a corner combo that ended in corner webthrow.

I’ve been messing with c.lmh, l swing, then either j.h zip or j.mh zip j.h. Haven’t found anything consistent though.

At this point I’m just doing c.lmh, l swing, j.mmh, h sting~h, s, sj. mmh, h swing, j.mh zip s, Skrull otg, dash under web throw into corner, then either web throw loop, web throw > ms, or h sting xx ms then DHC.

You can do a dashunder webthrow into the corner off of any wallbounce assist, but since skulls otgs, you can do it at the end of an air series.

c.L, c.M, c.H xx Spider Sting, s.H xx Web Zip, j.M, j.H, j.S, S crosses under the opponent. Might not work on all characters, and also it’s fairly difficult to time the S and jump-cancel it into H Web Throw, so I’m looking for other options.

Brahma, c.L, c.M, c.H xx L Web Swing, j.H xx Web Zip, j.H, dash S allows Spidey to cross under. But it’s difficult because you can’t do the j.H after L Web Swing too high in the air and there’s a tight window in which you have to time the dash in order for it to work. Still, it does work. Sucks how hard it is for Spidey to set up the Web Throw loop by himself, at least for now…

I don’t know if UWT setups are losing their appeal because of the new ways of escaping them, but I was in training mode trying to find an UWT setup that doesn’t use an OTG assist. This is idea occured to me when I found myself using Wesker’s assist more for unblockable set-ups since it hits low and Spidey comes in very fast from above. Not too sure on the validity of this set-up so I was hoping if any of you can confirm.

[Corner Only] Wesker B assist, j.S or j.H, c.L, c.M, c.H xx L Web Swing, j.H, j.S, s.L, s.M, s.H xx L Web Ball xx UWT

I’ve found that this does only work in the corner for most characters (I recall getting it to work on Shuma midscreen) and you have to wait just a tick before doing UWT after the web ball. What I like is that if you do pull it off, Wesker assist will be available for the OTG after the UWT ensuring the damage reset combo afterwards.

TL:DR - can anyone confirm if this a valid UWT set-up? May not be practical on most characters but I can atleast use it to style on Tron :badboy:

It is valid, meaning it works. But I honestly don’t see the point, since the regular BnB with Web Swing, Spider Sting and air series series will build more meter and deal more damage or about the same, without the need of a reset.

ok so i was dropping my combo alot online especially against cap sized characters so i went back to try it in training and got the same results as online. just to check myself i went back and chose jill as before and my combo worked out the same as i stated. apparently after web swing cap sized characters cant be hit by the jumping S but small size characters can. with that being said i made small adjustments and still got 795.3K worth of damage which is only 2K less than the other combo. after web swing i simply go :m: :m: :s: then finish as i did before. also i noticed i started with j.:m: and j.:h: in my post that :h: is suppose to be an :s:

UWT behind the right setup kills any character in the game. The web throw combo is doing slightly less than 800,000 per touch for the same amount of meter, 1 bar.

I’m killing wesker in 1 hit and that REALLY matters when you have top tier characters who can’t escape the UWT. If you use the web throw, MS and don’t DHC, you leave wesker alive and he’s really scary in xfc lvl 2\3. When you hit him, you kinda want him dead. Same goes for dante\zero etc… UWT is great for all the good characters who can’t dodge it. It just fucking murders them.
