MvC3: Two Girls one Corpse: The Hsien-Ko Thread!

I like t bagging

i wanted so bad to see a gong vs gong clash, i bet those times when it was lei lei assist mirror matches were intense

it wasn’t meant as a insult but seriously
everyone even the hsien-ko players can see her flaws
and how difficult she is to use

the only use most people get out of her is with her dark force pendulum assist

good hsien-ko players exist but not that many sadly

Oh. Sorry about that. The way you worded it made it sound like you thought Nageki was delusional or something. My bad.

The problem is that her flaws are pretty basic things Capcom should’ve gotten right when they designed her. So until they realize this and bring her up to speed, we just gotta keep on reppin.’ As in, keep discovering little tricks like her plink teleports.

Speaking of which, those matches were pretty fun to watch. Nice comeback against that Dante and Magneto. So… anything on dealing with Tasky?

All Hsien Ko would need to be good is faster movement speed in my opinion. I know I feel very deadly when in X Factor with it’s increased speed, and that has nothing to do with the damage increase.

Yeah, she feels like VSav speed in XF. It’s very nice, to put it simply.

if we’re asking for buffs… simply letting her cancel out of her pendulum like in VS would be amazing. Her gongs should also at least absorb if not reflect all projectiles(minus hypers) that travel somewhat horizontally.

That’s what i’ve been saying. But for some reason people think that movement speed =/= good or bad

Right. The Gong can be a bit finicky sometimes. It also doesn’t reflect a lot of what it probably should reflect. Beams make sense; I don’t think you can even program that. But stuff like Chris’ grenades/Trish and Phoenix’s fireballs/Spidey’s Web Balls should be able to be reflected. It could help put pressure on projectile-happy opponents and allow her to approach (which, with a speed boost, would be fun). It also cancels out rapid-fire projectiles most of the time because each individual bullet clashes with each other, which kind of defeats the purpose of a reflector, but I don’t think you can get around that.

Well even if they dont reflect only three projectiles inthe game her gong cant stop, everything else gets neutralized. Somethign is better than nothing, and since they get neutralized having a projectile assist helps your pressure better if that’s what your talking about cactus.

has anyone actually studied the way beams work on this game?

I can’t say exactly how it works off the top of my head, but generally the gongs neutralize the hit of the beam and keep going. There’s some startup where the beam will still hit before the wave is officially “out,” which is annoying, but once the wave is moving, it should protect her.

not all of these are practical, but im looking at the ones that are done without assist, those are very useful. If someone would post these in the combo thread in text form that would be awesome, it looks like one of hsien ko’s problems just got fixed :badboy:

how do you guys feel about hsien ko/x23 or hsien ko/morrigan

From my experience, X-23 and LeiLei is just meh. I ran with them in some tournaments and X-23’s version of the DHC trick has a bit more synergy than some of the others. The only thing I had an issue is that Laura is just so damn squishy and LeiLei doesn’t quite help her get in as much. Damage wise it’s pretty nifty, as both their hypers compliment fairly well. Weapon X or Rage trigger can hit for full after Tenraiha; and if done vice versa, Tenraiha gets a lot of mileage in a corner. Outside of hypers, every OTG Ankle Slicer can lead to the foe eating a Senpu Bu and another loop potentially from Laura. It’s just without armor assist, Laura dies far too quickly and needs to rely on the third character potentially to get in.

Morrigan I adore a lot with LeiLei, mainly cause they are on my favorites list of the roster. Synergy wise, Shadow Blade sets the foe enough back and up for any good LeiLei to start making some guesses where they’re gonna land. Knowing that allows for the player to make some choices as to whether to continue zoning, confuse them with mix-ups, or anything of the sort. I personally like fucking with the opponent’s head by adding Shadow Blade into a combo string and go for a reset involving LeiLei’s dash. Since Morrigan’s AAA sends them up and take the camera focus with them, you can actually exploit LeiLei’s slow and cancelable dash to mess where they’ll need to block. Since you can stop anytime before she respawns, the timing is very flexible. Chireitou -> raw tag in also allows for Morrigan to get off some flight combo loops before the foe can escape. Approaching via tri-dash or with her normal air dash gives options altogether.

I don’t care for the Dark Harmonizer assist too much, but if you can keep the foe out with her normals really well (like Shim)…then I do think it becomes that much more viable. I’ve gotten some mileage by adding in a Dark Harmonizer boost during LeiLei’s typical BnB. Reason being is that while she doesn’t do a crazy load of damage, her combo pacing is kinda slow/medium in tempo and easily allows for a call in before she goes for a launcher. Getting the meter, going into Rimoukon, and still capable of getting meter afterwards just chews the clock away. People usually don’t look for that when dealing with LeiLei, but her style can stall matters out even if she’s hitting you.

No real luck with Soul Fist yet. It’s not that sturdy, but I guess works as a neat TvC Hadouken. I’ve gotten Senpu Bu L to combo after landing cr.H -> Soul Fist assist. That’s how I kinda see it.

Oh, and double Dark Force enabled ladies leads to a very, colorful mix-up. Having LeiLei’s golden body swing by with Morrigan’s glowing clone aura disorients foes pretty bad. XD Especially if adding in IAD overheads and cross-ups.

I really wanna help Nageki and this community with vids…but needing a capture card. D:

my main team is actually Morrigan Hsien Ko X-23 I use for assists I use soul fist Senpu Bu and ankle slicer. I like Morrigan with Hsien Ko especially calling Senpu Bu while doing flight cancelled fireballs, I’ve found that you can kind of use this to protect un armored Hsien Ko Pendulum which is nice. With armored Hsien Ko assist it has to be really annoying to deal with getting around fireballs and a hyper armored assist. It’s also very easy to air dash in and follow up if Hsien Ko catches your opponent.

I haven’t tested soul fist too much in real matches but I do like calling it with Hsien Ko out because of it’s speed. I like to call soul fist assist as I’m throwing out an H gong and then I follow up with a M item toss to control space a bit Using Soul fist with gong has worked out okay for me so far. I think the main benefit of soul fist is it’s speed, and it is actually pretty durable although it loses to things like Doom assist beam of course.

also from midscreen with Hsien Ko if you do an air combo knockdown + dash up sword super then DHC into Morrigan shadow servant you get all the hits of shadow servant and some pretty good damage (plus it looks hella cool).

I’ve found Hsien Ko and X-23 to be pretty cool, you can set up some stuff with her ankle slicer assist and her IAD S to try and open people up but I haven’t been using it too much. after an air combo with Hsien Ko ending in S (close enough to the ground) you can call X-23 and do L pendulum>M>M after the second M they’ll air reset and you can go for an air throw or go for a dash mix up, I’m still working on this.

I know this works with any otg assist but I after I end my air combo with S, I like to call X-23 dash up and activate golden armor then launch after X-23 otg’s into another short air combo into S. Then I can either go for a mix up or safely tag out with armor. I’m still looking for more uses for X-23s assist with Hsien Ko as well.

As every other character in this game does, X-23 is awesome with armored Hsien Ko assist, I’ve been experimenting with stuff while having the opponent cornered like calling Hsien Ko assist during a block string or something then wave dashing backwards, and doing a wall jump while they block Hsien Ko. Then I try either a jumping S or jumping H after the wall jump or I can do neither and land and go for a low. I know you can do the same thing off a normal jump but hey lol. On top of that Senpu Bu is one of the assists that allows for X-23 to do weapon X prime after an ankle slicer otg midscreen or corner which is nice for doing the DHC trick if that’s what you want to do.

Senpu Bu is also slow enough that you can call it and do X-23s command grab and get them before Hsien Ko actually hits lol.

Okay let’s talk about hsien ko on point for a second. how do you guys alleviate pressure when someone like zero is rushing you down.

Tron flame assist goes a long way towards helping with that. Haggar could work here too but I prefer Tron.

without using assist i mean.

I wait until a block string will be finished, AG, then jump into either a senpu L or a jH more than likely they run into it. i know most wolverines do.

Depending on who it is, I might try any of…

Jump blocking. This is really good because it eliminates high low. You just have to be careful not to get thrown.

Pushblocking. I generally try to wait until I’ll get maximum distance out of this, and try to avoid being predictable.

Gold Armor. This is more of a preventative tactic. It has startup so it’s not a good idea to do it to somebody who is already on top of you.

Super jump followed by: High or low air dash, pendulum, gongs, etc. Lei-Lei is hard to catch in the air, so this will at least give you some breathing room.

Wait until there is a gap and hit with 2A because it’s fast. Unfortunately this can involve a lot of trial and error, but when you know you can punish something, do it.

I love using Hsien Ko to run away from X Factor characters. Superjump > Airdash > 3x Senpuu Bu is great for killing those last few seconds of X factor.

Anyone tried out our zombie girl after the new patch to see if anything was changed?

EDIT: Never mind, it was a bug/glitch fix patch. Also Amaterasu nerf. Any time now Capcom…

As for creating space while being pressured (I run Tron as well, but you asked for no assists), I pushblock as well. I’ll remember to try airdash tricks as well next time.

How well does using Senpuu Bu work when running away from XF DPhoenixes? I’d imagine not very well.
