This. I run Iron Man/Hsien-ko/Tron and I usually do really well with the armored assist. However, if both Tron and Iron Man die, I’m usually done unless I get a lucky lvl. 3 x-factor combo with Hsien-ko or something. I usually resort to super jumping and spamming senpu bu since a lot of people don’t know how to deal with it lol. Scrub tactics for time outs ftw.
But seriously, we need to figure out some nice stuff with Hsien-ko on point. Right now, I really only see her useful for her gdlk assist.
I really like st.B as a normal. I feel like it has decent range, start-up and priority and easily goes into cr.C/st.C for some good damage. I dunno, I like it’s feel.
there’s just nothing i can find about hsien-ko that can make people stop calling her the worst character in the game
Zero murders hsien ko on point
it’s not even fair how fast she gets demolished
whenever i see a video of someone using her
it’s always just to use her dark force hyper
tag out and then use her swing assist
Below M.O.D.O.K.? Unless I’m missing out on something with him.
Well, at least she was good-intentioned. I can only hope that she wasn’t included solely for fanservice (if so, well, it worked on me). She does have a bunch of tricks unique to her that are pointed out in this thread, though the effort required to make her on par with the rest of the cast is, quite frankly, a bit unrewarding. And, well, one of the Shadow Battles even refers to her as gimmicky character, which makes me question why they even bothered to put her in if she was going to be worse than her home series iteration. But I’ll keep using her.
Does her :h: Anki Hou still hit overhead, like in VSav? If so, that could lead to some nice mixup stuff.
She probably is one of the worst characters in the game. outside of the broken assist, shes a slow gimmicky character that doesnt do much damage, cant rush down, cant make comebacks, ect. I really like her but I have to drop her if I want to do well. This is my opinion and it shouldnt be taken super seriously, but yeah I think shes baaad.
Every character has their toolkit of overpowered features. The Dark Force power is unfortunately the only broken thing that Hsien got.
Low damage; only one of her specials (gong) has any real use within combos and that one only in the corner; zoning tools but no real way to capitalize on zoning with damage like Dormammu or Arthur or Ryu; a slow command throw that leads to nothing but one raw hyper while her normal throws lead to a full air combo and hyper; a weak projectile with no frame advantage that can randomly stun but if you’re far enough away to be using it you may not have time to capitalize on it. Dark Force is amazing on point, but only if your opponent is stupid enough to attack you.
I think she’s totally bottom tier. Doesn’t stop me trying to use her though. She does do better on point when she’s not the team anchor and you can put on some serious pressure with Senpu Bu and IAD. I try to use her as my point character at the start while I still have my assists until I find a safe time to power up and swap out. But I’m pretty sure my team would be stronger if I replaced her with Tron or Hulk.
I think pretty much everyone using hsien-ko for her DF pendulum assist could up their game by replacing her with akuma w/ tatsu assist, which goes through pretty much everything without needing a super to power it up. She’s just so mediocre on point and even worse as anchor, not to mention the wasted meters on DF + DHC.
I think while Hsien-Ko does have a lot of juice in her air Senpu Bus and her H projectile, she has a lot of weaknesses that she doesn’t really need to have.
Walk speed increase and a damage increase on her supers would be nice.
Make her ground teleport a little faster, like Karas from TvC.
Right now she has loads of trouble with rushdown… the only thing that keeps them off me is Sentinel assist.
And she has an impossible time catching nearly any character playing runaway. If you’re down to just hsien-ko and your opponent has a lead, good fucking luck.
thanks for posting that Valentine, I was hoping she had more combos she could pull off. after the launcher could those combos be extended with a gong in the air?
I was playing around with Hsien Ko in training mode and I didn’t know after a pendulum on the ground you could do her air dash after it finishes. What I started doing was a lp pendulum (one swing) then air dashing back toward them while calling X-23 ankle slicer assist and doing her air S overhead.
I don’t know if that’s useful or not since I haven’t tried it in a match yet…but it looks cool so I thought I’d post it Lol.
Dear lord, this. As much as I like Hsien-Ko, I’m finding it more and more difficult to not just replace her with someone…actually good…like Sentinel…or Akuma.
When just Hsien-ko is left and my opponent has a life lead, there isn’t a damn thing she can do. Herp derp teleport dash is total ass. Senpu bu’s priority is a joke and you can be hit out of it very easily on reaction. If they simply sit near the edge of the screen in jump back, her projectiles can’t reach them, and since she so laughably slow and immobile, she can’t catch up to them.
I think she’s better on point than most people give her credit for, but only early in the game. Damage sucks but I have an easier time frustrating the opponent and capitalizing on mistakes with her than a lot of other characters. It’s actually not too hard to whittle people down with her if she has the proper support, imo.
But the thing is, if you’re using her primarily for her assist (which is the easiest way she fits into a team) and are thus keeping her in the back of your squad (which is what you should probably be doing), that means she’s going to be the last one on your team standing when things get bad, and she makes a really bad anchor. XF3 Hsien-Ko is not threatening. If you’re in the lead, then you’ve got a chance, as I think she’s pretty good when the opponent is forced to come to her, but if you have to play catch-up without any teammates left, you’re SOL.
I’ve dropped her from my main team because she doesn’t fit in with it as a point character and running her as an “assist only” is too much of a risk for me. I think treating a team member as assist-only in this game is a quick way to handicap yourself with how important late-game X-Factor is.
I wish she was faster, had VSav style pendulum cancels, and had VSav style item toss.
Just curious, is there any multi-hit assist akin to Hsien-ko’s pendulum other than Akuma’s tatsu? I’m exploring other characters, but I really like Hsien-ko
I just wish she was more mobile.
With my Iron Man/Hsien-ko/Tron team I usually DHC Dark Force Hsien-ko and get Tron in. Her assist really helps Tron stay on top of and get in on her opponent. Who do you guys feel like would be a good Hsien-ko alternative in that respect, if I feel like switching it up? Preferably not Sentinel =P I hate that guy haha.
I run Lei-Lei on point with Morrigan assist too. As of now, it works pretty well early game and pays off good in the end with all the meter built up for the other two (Morrigan/Amaterasu).
