MvC3: Two Girls one Corpse: The Hsien-Ko Thread!

I understand your argument, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say that 3D graphics are “unrivaled”. Maybe more efficient, but since when is creativity about efficiency? so it might take longer, fighting game fans have proven that they can wait ludicrous amounts of time for the games they want…

and yes, as far as Hsien-ko’s model goes, it definitely looks unpolished… I’m hoping they work on it, but this close to the release date… who knows? I thought her Tenraiha balls looked a bit too “shiny” as well you know? looks a little jarring.

Ahh, I see, well that does make sense… and as I said I don’t particularly care whether it’s in 2D or 3D, I just want it done.

Would I like to see it done in 2D? yes

Would I bitch if it was done, but in 3D? hell-fucking-no

I guess it’s irrelevant though, considering the already heavy roster of games Capcom is working on, if and when we see a DS4… I’m sure everyone will be happy either way :stuck_out_tongue:

Before the reveal I was thinking about a Hsien-ko/Amaterasu/Morrigan team.

I like Amaterasu and think I could have room to keep learning for a while, so I was pretty dead-set on using her, but I wasn’t quite sure what I would want for a 3rd character - Haggar, Dormammu, and Doom were other possibilities.

Besides my masochistic inclination to play Phoenix after seeing more of her in the recent videos, after the reveal Hsien-ko’s unique properties make me want to try out a bunch of teams.

I feel like her moveset is different enough to break some conventions that people have estimated to be strong in this game. For example, while she could benefit from Molecular Shield and Cold Star assist, I feel like she might not need them as much as other characters. You can’t pushblock the pendulum, and her slow-moving gong waves make those assists seem somewhat redundant for her as far as horizontal spacing is concerned. If you could afford to drop Cold Star, you could take Bloom instead and build meter for lots of Dark Forces.

I feel like she would benefit more from a very fast or very slow projectile. For example I thought she might be an ideal candidate for Doom’s Hidden Missiles. If you activated it before going in with pendulum, by the time they’re done blocking you, they’ll probably have to block the missiles, giving you time to do something. With a fast projectile, you could use it to tag them and pendulum in, or give you time to set up your slower projectiles.

Her super-armor mode also shouldn’t be overlooked as far as conventions go. Among other things, what does an enemy AA assist mean to her if she can just attack through it?

A final bit of speculation, I get the impression her moveset is designed to drain enemy meter. Certain characters could be frustrated trying to get past her slow gongs, air mobility, and high priority. What she doesn’t have is a fast full-screen punish, so I assume the last resort for characters without a teleport would be to try to chip her with supers. If you have an ally that really wants the meter advantage (cough, Phoenix), does it seem like it might be beneficial to run them through the grinder with Hsien-ko first?

If Hsien ends up with an AAA, that + her DF sounds EVIL >:D

I honestly forgot Ammy had her Bloom assist, has anyone even seen that thing? it seems like anyone who plays with Amaterasu picks Cold Star (not that I can really blame them). I’m curious as to how much meter it builds…

Edit: for bonus trolling points, play Hsien-ko/Morrigan/Amaterasu and use both their meter building assists… play keepaway with gong & pendulum and frustrate your opponent by spamming meter gain

Wait pendulum can’t be push blocked? That seems like it would make her really effective on a trap based team. Personally, Doom rocks isn’t so much as to allow me to get in with Hsien-Ko but to keep them lockdown and add to the chip damage while I’m running her offense.

Sounds pretty ineffective.

I think that’s because you can’t pushblock moves with forward (as well as backwards in this case, i guess) momentum…

And yes, Doom Rocks is glorious in that you can keep pressure so effortlessly (just throw in moves with forward momentum to prevent AG), like the old DDD with Doom/Tron in MvC2

I find it so stunning that Doom is so sad on point, but his assist is just… god, but maybe that’s changed in MvC3 and we don’t know it because people keep trying to play Doom like he was in MvC2, which they’ve obviously moved away from -.-

You guys are assuming these trailers were made recently again. They probably had these trailers ready and made months ago, just wanted to keep the hype going with releasing information at a certain pace.

I wouldn’t expect pendulum to be pushblockable, the thing is anchored somewhere.

this is true, I honestly didn’t even think of that (I guess I just naturally assume people are lazy and procrastinate <.<)

she ends up flying off the screen only to pop back on the other side and end up exactly where she was, JUST to piss people off, lol

Hey guys, i know you’re going to like this:

MvsC3: Hsien Ko & Sentinel - Gamersyde

@ 720P and 60FPS

I agree, but I also don’t expect there to be much difficulty in just swatting her out of it if her approach isn’t covered by an assist or something. The hitbox wasn’t that generous for her in VSav.

Still saying Zero will be an awesome partner for her. He has that slow sonic boom projectile assist for her, and probably unlike doom, is actually very good on point and can benefit greatly from Hsien Ko’s own assists (all assuming she has gong). Plus, blade super into genei jin, what more do you want?

I’d like to make this my team’s name, with your blessing of course.

For some reason, I think she would work well with Strider if he were is this. W/e, too bad. Im having major trouble figuring out a team for this broad.

You could run my crew of Tron/Wesker/Hsien Ko. I think it’s gonna be one big mindfuck.

Ill prolly switch out wesker for someone else. But I could probably run that.

I swear, if the gong otg’s, and if its one of hsien-ko’s assists, Tron and Hsien-ko are going to go together like penutbutter and chocolate. then just put in whatever 3rd character fits best with em. Even if gong doesn’t otg, they still seem like they’d mesh extremely well. Their weakness will definitely/probably/maybe be teleporters though, and especially Dormammu since dark hole and pillars prolly beat the gong.

It just seems like hsien-ko is going to be amazing at slowly pushing forward and forcing people into the corner, and tron RAPES in the corner. The assists seem like theyd mesh too.

Dante, since he looks damn good on any team.

Kinda weirded out about Hsien Ko’s air dash. I wonder if you can cancel it.

The fuck are you smoking Robo? Between the teleport dash, airdash, pendulum cancels and gong she’ll at least have many ways to get in and around keep-away characters. She’s got high-lows, she’s got mixup, she’s got a projectile game, she’s got command throws, she’s got Super Armor, she has basically every goddamned tool in the book outside of fly mode and an 8-way airdash. She’s bursting with options, and will most likely be at least as versatile like Trish and probably more like Dante after people get into the lab with him.

First the moe voice and now this, you’re like two for two in stepping incorrect.
