Yeah, but besides K9999 all of the Eolith characters (including Igniz and O.Zero) were added in 2002 UM. K9999 even made a cameo in one of the KOF dating sims (don’t ask me how I know…), so Eolith doesn’t own them.
15 man tournies used to be the norm!! I guess we’re all so used to 30+ man tournies lol. But i’d definitely rather a 15 man tourney in the older games, compared to what we have now, just because the level of play was a lot higher at that time. Other than ST, it’s sad to watch people play the other old games. It just looks really bad now compared to what we were doing just a few years ago.
Don’t trust Capcom. They are just gonna turn K-Groove into X-factor and then turn around and say its broken so its cool.
Every new capcom game has gotten the made for newer gamer approval. So for me that played cvs2 a whole lot, it would be counterproductive that they make cvs3 just completely destroying what I loved about that game. I for one do not believe that 09ers could become good at something like cvs2. Just judging the hate some good players that play 3soe get cause people don’t have short cuts or cool animations on there supers. Or other nonsense.
Cvs2 was like the newer generation’s st. Lots of good players in all areas of the country worked hard at that game. Got their reps through hard work not through mashing H on the big screen. I may be an older player but those were the best time, playing fighters.
Thankfully then we’ve seen at least on old MvC2 vet call MvC3, his favorite.
The key then, based on what fanatiq has written on MvC3, is that the game doesn’t need to play exactly like the old game, but rather capture what made the old game great. For Marvel, that was the brokenness and the high stakes nature of the game that meant a single mistake could cost you the entire match. In the case of a “CvS3,” what’s important would be to capture what made CvS2 so good, and not to make it mechanically similar to CvS2.
Im all for that. If they could some how capture what made CvS2 good, and implant it in a CvS3.
The question is off course, pointing out what that is exactly. For MvC3, fanatiq wrote an article that made it way to Niitsuma’s team that may have influenced the game’s development, seeing as every iteration from that point on added more and more ToD elements.
Yea, I was just about to say that lol . What made it so good in general, why do the hardcore CvS2 players…like CvS2. What kept them ambitious to play, so Capcom can try to re-capture that for a 3rd.
Absolutely impossible to put into words, and absolutely impossible to incapsulate into some transferable game quality for a potential CvS3.
No clue, but I’d like an answer to this as well… I heard it through the grapevine, which could be a bad grape vine…
what does preppys opinion even matter? hes not a top player, hes just a dude that records vids. guy lives off of mashing tron assist.
Oh wow.
LMAO
Deus, I do know you are/were a really good MvC2 player (You are that Deus, right? because there’s 2 on SRK)… What do you think about the PS3/XBX versions?
nope not that guy.
but ive seen his vids and i do know the basics of marvel. basically if youre playing cable+tron, the only way you can hit them is if they FUCK UP. there are people that live off of assist calls. assists are very hard to deal with in mvc2 unless you are of a high level.
preppys opinion to me is no better than random guy playing sentinel/doom/commando (mash 50/50 assists everytime someone gets close to you and never have to do mixups because doom will do chip damage for you)
im not a great player, but the truth is there are players that win only by the other player fucking up in mvc2.
and the only attacks mega man has that does chip is charged shot and i think uppercut, so his zoning doesnt even chip the opponent. people get nervous cuz meter buildfing for cable and run into charged shots. jumping and hitting fierce does no chip and is not a mixup.
Those are more problems with the game, and not specifically the version of the game, which is what I was asking.
i have no idea about if its a good conversion or not. i just think its a mistake regarding preppy as someone whose opinion is anymore weighted than any random poster in any random thread (such as myself even).
Here’s a good reason, and I can attest to some of it as well.
Beats is a good player, and Demon Hyo is a top player, so yeah…
As for Preppy, he IS a good MvC2 player, and uses Megaman / Cable / Sent, I think… He’s fares pretty well at the game, for being a MM player.
i dont think preppys opinion is better than anyone elses. “well preppy said ______” is not a good reference point for opinions. thats like saying “well thats what _____(random srk poster) said”. the exception would be if “well preppy said _____(top player name) said.”
i dont mean to talk shit, but i dont think his opinion is equal to saying “well demonhyo said its bad” or any other players that are KNOWN for tournament placings.
preppy isnt exactly KNOWN because of his tourney placing, hes KNOWN becuase he records vids. which is great and i deeply appreciate him doing so and i enjoy watching his footage very much.
Signed.
Put in another DS character next to Morrigan too please, like Demitri. He should have been in CvS2.
Well i guess that answers that lol.
Hopefully if they bring it to XBLA & PSN. They will Upgrade the Replay Feature so we can watch replays of matches online, similar too SSF4. That would be hella nice.
Off Topic : Wish I still lived in Maryland, a year after I moved out to Philly and started playing FG’s more I found out about Xanadu, and about the CvS2 players down there. Sucks that i got into the FG scene late.
magnetro and joo aren’t known for tourney placings, would you not trust their information on stuff like this? plus, assuredly there are placing players who may not know the specifics of certain things. plus, you really really should take preppy’s word way more than a random poster when it comes to the problems with the next gen ports, especially xbox.
mixah and I could easily ask who should take YOUR word when it comes to whose word we should take for next gen ports? and personally, your words won’t hold any weight for me in that regard.
you don’t need to be a placing player to know the intricacies (or, even the more obvious things) of a game or notice when something is off. for example I’d take killakelly’s or jake’s word on problems with cyc in next gen over most people who have ever placed with cyc. even over wong in some regards. there are more examples of such things like taking shin’s word for chun, khaos’ word for sentinel (though he is actually tourney placing material imo just too many years too late) shoultzula’s word for strider, etc.
