MvC3 SFIV KOFXIII producers mention CvS3! We want CvS2HD Online Edition and Capcom-vs-SNK-3 please!

Soooo what about a re-release of cvs2 but with like 4 new characters?
This way it satisfies the “new game” feel, but nothing is changed.

It actually occurred to me just before I clicked that people could think that those ideas are ridiculous but I feel these adjustments will will diversify the game without completely changing old cvs2.

Most of those ideas keep characters and grooves the same for the most part. Real zany would be tiger knee juggles for sagat, fake fireball ryu, teleport blanka, super cancelling P groove, cancel into cc in air after anything.

Yeah… I get what you’re saying. I think it’s zany already but it doesn’t really matter (nerfing C-Groove, IMO only the 4th best groove overall, in it’s mobility, when it’s already hardly mobile… seems pretty off-the-wall).

It’s not like this is a thread designed to list potential changes for CvS2 (for my sanity, I hope that thread never arises), though.

Not Vampior Savior, VS as in the VS Capcom series.

I’m actually curious, what if any changes would you make?

I honestly have no interest in CvS 3. Just re-release CvS2 with online play. Don’t mess with perfection and Funamizu’s last Capcom fighter.

I like SSF4 and MvC3 fine, but I’d still rather the CvS series be left alone as a bench mark of when Capcom and SNK were at the top of the fighting game chain.

If they must mess with it, add new characters and stages to CvS2, slap a 3 on it and call it a day.

I would make zero changes.

They should just make a CFJ2 instead. I don’t care to see what they would do to SNK’s characters (and systems) this time around.

most people dont want ANY changes. why do you think EO version was generally laughed it? it was a different game than the real cvs2. EO changes were…dumb. like being able to activate in air after pressing a button  and super cancel in pgroove

if anything, cvs2 online could have an option like hdremix did. you can choose to play the original arcade version or a “balanced” version.

If the game is so bad, why are people demanding a 3rd installment?

At the EVO mvc3 panel, I went up to Neo_G & asked him (in japanese) what fighting systems he liked the most.

He said that 3s had his heart & was his favorite, but that CvS2 was the one he was most proud of, due to all of the different systems working together successfully (literally—in typical humble japanese style—“not coming even close to being a disaster”).

Let’s hope that he wants to raise the bar!

I think EO was laughed at because the changes made seemed like a quick fix did not make the game better. For example, they removed RCs and totally changed how alot of characters play and made it even less balanced (character wise) IMO. I don’t think arcade CvS2 is a perfect game yet and some minute changes can make the game more balanced than it already is.

Here my general outlook on it. Hypothetically, if CvS2 came out extremely well balanced and S groove was viable, no one would complain and we’d play it for more than 10 years. It is perfect. Suddenly Capcom wants to release a new CvS2, one where A-Bison can do 90% damage has special cancels or Sagat’s s.lk had faster startup, better range, and higher priority and was super cancellable people would hate it because it’s not as balanced as the previous iteration and, seemingly to a greater extent players are simply used to playing the old version. If there are things that can be improved upon, why forgo it just for the sake of nostalgia?

In reality, that 2nd, less balanced version came out first and we’ve been playing it for so long that we shun every tweak away in favor of having something more familiar.
For people who feel, the game is already in this perfect state, it does not apply.

With all that said, I’d still get CvS2 if it came out on psn. But if faced with an option for changes or no changes, I would go for the former.

If they re-release it, I’d prefer it to have an option to remove RC’s. I myself am fine with them but for those who would rather play without them it would be ideal to have optional.

rollcancels are only on the ps2 port iirc

Ps2 and dreamcast.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Capcom vs. SNK 2 get a proper online release, but honestly, it was a slow, boring, unbalanced game. It was kind of the culmination of the “nerf everything and everyone” attitude that colored 3rd Strike and Alpha 3. It could use a remake, revision, or sequel. I don’t think Capcom has anyone competent to make it properly, at this point. Get the people who did the King of Fighters Unlimited/Ultimate Match games to do it. They took retro games and improved them greatly, while remaining very true to their roots. It’s a nice dream, but I doubt it will happen.

Haha my game would be crippled without RCs. I’d be reduced to a Nakoruru and Mai player. Yuck.

I dunno. CvS2 has the most fun casuals out of any game I’ve ever played, except of course when you’re playing against THAT guy (the dude that would pick Team Bas against people goofing around with S-groove shit)

Yeah i prefer cvs2: Online Edition

You guys need to realize CvS2 isn’t SF3, the CvS series never had the clout of the SF name and if they release a CvS2 online that game will almost certainly not make money for Capcom. Why is it that CvS2 only ran for 2 years in SBO? If you tell any new fighting game fan that CvS2 ran for 7 years in EVO they will without a doubt be dumbstruck. That’s why a CvS3 is necessary, we need more players to pick up the series and only so will a CvS2 online possibly be a success. Many SF3 fanboys hate on SF4, but without SF4 do you guys think 3SO would have been released?
