MvC3: Magneto: Questions (and Answers) Thread

Actually, I think the best option there would be Magneto/Doom/Sentinel if you’re looking to keep a strong neutral assist but still use missiles for the extension. To be honest, as much as people hype of missiles in this game, I think it’s overrated as a neutral assist. In fairness part of the reason i think it’s so overrated (how easy it is to punish) is not as applicable to Magneto because of shockwave. That being said, drones are insane for Magneto. I don’t even know all of the little reset tricks using repulsion and attraction and I don’t have the movement skills down to do things like left right magnetic blast tri dash light mixups and even I can open up someone in a heartbeat using Magneto drones. If you use that team you WILL open up people left and right with drones–meaning that you will almost always have missiles available for the assist extension. But like I was saying earlier you’re just not going to be able to break 900K in damage using the online viable assist extension combos. The way I look at it though, if you really learn to use the drones to open people up, you have a good chance at landing 2 820K combos or so.

I can do fly loops just fine online with 4+bars by pressing [forward, forward H]x5 in a correct rhythm. Pretty much all Magneto combos are fine online except midscreen ROM (that combo that you never actually have to do ever) as long as you have a decent connection and don’t play anyone who has less than 5 bars; the precision needed to execute these are overstated although yes, it sucks when you get a random lag spike and then get derped out by a moron mashing Helm Breaker or a Nova grab. Consistent movement is alot harder if you ask me but Magneto certainly isn’t a “horrible” online character. People online don’t know how to block tridash mixups or boxdash Magnetic Blast pressure.

The game is still ass though, just pick Vergil

Nah I just have a standard AT&T cable connection; I’d say 7/10 matches are playable and the other 3/10 I just drop my controller and go take a shit or cook some food instead while the other guy is mashing out Hyper Charging Stars at an immobile character.

I can actually relate to that I was playing a guy who just mashed morrigan assit and kept ryu hadokening on block because the game looked like it ran at 10 fps so after he killed my point I got up and took a shit but that’s not the point.
Ranked I think 1 out of 5 games I can hit all my bnb’s and I’m super consistent offline.

I am trying to learn Magneto for weeks but I still have a lot of issues to properly master his MagBlast and Hyper Grav loops. Could u tell if there’s a height requirement to do Stand S⇒Jump H (Super Jump or Normal Jump?)→ADDFJump H⇒ADUF Jump H⇒ADDF Jump?

You can make your life easier by doing sju and/or sjuf to air dash DOWN.

You talking about HG loops right? For some reason your original post is looking like you wanted to learn rom. But yeah for HG loops, air dashing down will make the loops easier. Now if you use the sjub then you must use addf.

But just stick with sju/sjuf to add.

He’s talking about the ROM. If you’re trying to do it midscreen you can only do SJ upforward H, ADDF H. It’s much easier in the corner because all you have to do is super jump up and ADD.

Speaking of midscreen ROM, I had that shit on lock (In training mode) since Ultimate came out, I try to do it again in training for the first time in like 2 weeks and I got like 4 tiger knee disruptors in a row -_-

You’re hyper grav looping online?

It’s actually way easier than every other loop with the exception of corner mag blast stuff. For me at least. Did 3 reps on a 4/5 bar connection.

Kind of a big question but how do you guys approach playing anchor magnus?
Incoming mixups? Pressure? Midscreen combos? Hell even corner combos if they are much better than [:h::qcb::l::h::qcb::l:] x ∞

Yes, I can get 3-5x loops with an ender with at least 85% consistency playing against someone with a 5 bar connection. It’s really not difficult as long as you avoid people who have poverty connections.

The loop is really slow to do offline, so it’s not hard to do online. I can do that shit with my eyes and ears closed.

I can usually get hyper grav loops online. I sometimes practice the j.:s: offline so its easier to get the normal loop online because timing is more lenient on the normal loop.

Lol well I appreciate everyone making me feel bad. And I was already irritated that it took me 3 months to get the loop down consistently offline–well I am doing it on pad so there’s that…

Wait a minute are people doing the traditional loop or the adf medium one online?

it comes down to preference in this case. once you’ve gotten the feel for either one in an online environment (like say if you’ve trained in 4bar setting) you’ll be able to pull off either variant. although from what i’ve seen, a lot of people say that the adf medium variant is most easy online compared to the others.

opinions on magneto may cry?

are we talking point magnus or the anchor variant with dante on point? if latter, then try looking around for some footage of Yipes on youtube.

as for my opinions on the team i feel that it’s a very solid shell being that you have two good assist to extend and keep your neutral game on point with teleport mix ups along with touch deaths with any hit you find. although i think it can fight the morridoom shel but it’s somewhat difficult for Dante if you don’t know exactly what you’re doing with his spacing in between 90degree air fists and missiles coming at you. that match up is 6-4 in mags may cry favor imho simply because if you’re running point Dante, then you can shut down any attempts at calling doom and a potential punish on Morrigan if she’s mobile in the air or on the ground(latter case, go for a throw if you can then into some raw tag setup or w/e)
