I can agree with Din0’s list (Zero, Task, Vergil, and Wolv), especially Wolverine. I did like how Fanatiq played the Taskmaster matchup during Aftershock against Honzo. He waited for the arrows and waved dashed right under it to punish.
I think Dorm beats him squarely too but not on point.
i would say wolvy does beat him, possibly spencer and captain america too
the only character i ever had problems with when i’m using point magneto is the mirror match and against point dormmamu. magneto on point has been shown to clean out a dudes whole team free (see Aftershock) and dormammu is just as good with the fish hook gimmicks with an assist added onto it.
my thing is that as long as magneto has an assist that’s handles the neutral well than you cannot beat him period. might be able to give him a little trouble but that’s all you can do
Point Dormammu is actually not too hard to maul down, it’s Dorm second that’s a real problem where he has plenty of time to set up. Good luck setting up against a Flame Carpet that cripples your offense while his normals whiff out Disruptors.
Viper should beat him too, or at least go even.
I think Captain America handles him well too.
totally forgot about captain. :h: charging star is some bullshit man lol
Oh yeah Morrigan too.
Especially since she’s always going to be backed up by Missiles. Magneto doesn’t really have a solid answer to her IMO since she can just unfly in reaction to any of your punishes.
you could call assist + tk :h: emd into :l: emd. that might work
magneto is not the perfect character… there are almost no characters in any game that dont have bad or even matchups. magneto is by far not an exception. also, this is marvel, any character can wipe a team out.
Yeah see I’ve been running point Dorm recently, and my friends who play Mags on point just wreck me, especially if they have Missiles. I started picking Plasma Beam to counterpick Missiles, basically. I wish there was a good assist to help set up his spell nonsense when he’s on point, but he’s just better when he has time to stock. Part of the reason I’ve been trying Trish point, though she gets trashed by Magneto, apparently.
I think he’s top 5, maybe #3 or #4. Surprised that the SRK Tier List has him lower.
I think he’s 5. I don’t even go to the tier thread anymore because it’s just an awful vortex of hyperboles and contradictions. I think Zero, Viper, Vergil are all definitely better than Magneto, and Magneto is on par with Morrigan
Fixed.
How is viper and vergil better than Magneto?
vergil has good footsies and viper has incredible ground control with her eyebeam and seismos. vergil also has the belt. but these examples just show that they are better than magneto in some aspects.
oh okay i thought you meant overall
Viper: EX Seismo says fuck you to everything + ridiculous incoming mixups/unblockables. Mags has better mobility and zoning but in terms of shutting you out of the game, Viper takes it. Magneto’s incoming mixups is decent but they’re decently hard to set up and take a good degree more risk. I think Viper is right above Magneto though, I don’t think shes the best or anything. Her DHC synergy is too shitty for that.
Vergil: most retarded normals in the game + the best level 1 super in the game in Spiral Swords + if he’s in 2nd he turns into a portable DHC Glitch + XF3 DT Vergil is the scariest thing in the game and kills full teams in like 8 seconds or something stupid like that. Not to mention he can just layer on like 7 mixups on you in a row.
Magneto/Doom/Morrigan is the best team in the game right now in my book but a smart Vergil/Strider is probably the best bet at taking it out.
When doing the ROM (giving it another shot to learn this damn thing) do you need to have your stick at nuetral between landing and super jumping for the next air H? this is where im having my biggest problem, not getting a super jump out or just not getting to them, cant get the SJ out, dunno why.
I’m not positive but it might just be the timing issue of when you’re attempting to super jump OR you arent inputting the super jump fast enough to get it.
Example, [midscreen] after landing (addf.H), DB~UF H.
The DB~UF might be inputted too slow resulting in just a regular jump OR you’re super jumping way too early (thought you landed already) and when you press DB, you’re actually still in the air, by the time you press uf, it only registers as a regular jump.
Thats my assumptions. I ran into this problem too but corrected it by figuring out the timing of when to super jump and to do it faster. If I do it too slow, the character falls down lower.
I do the superjump really deliberately, like db, neutral, uf + H. It helps against input errors and slows me down.
Also, it might just be me, but you don’t HAVE to mash it out like crazy to get it, actually. I find doing it in a consistent rhythm helps. If you do it TOO fast, you can’t keep the opponent afloat anyway (since you’ll end up above the opponent when the H hits instead of below).
Point Magneto vs Vergil it’s my worst problem now…
Any tips?
Playing Mags/Dorm/Doom btw
Any tips on the timing for the air dashes magneto’s basic fly combo?
