You never really stop learning Mags. Learning to combo with Mags is really not as important as learning his spacing and movement and when to rush/zone,etc. Honestly I’ve played Mags since day 1 Vanilla and I can’t ROM in Ultimate outside of the corner yet just because I haven’t really put any time or effort into it. Which Mag Blast loop are you trying to learn? The easier ones are probably one Mag Blast rep into Fly loop or Anima’s jH adf Mag Blast land st.S jH adf jH Mag Blast land jMH MagBlast.
im trying to learn the midscreen rom the one where you airdash for and do magnetic blast till you make it to the corner. To be more specific im talking about what RayRay does everytime
j:h: adf j:h: Land j Magnetic Blast basically
I keep hearing Magneto/Doom/Ammy is a good team but I’ve never seen anyone play it? Any videos of good players using this team?
xray
I’ve been experimenting with a team during my play time.
Magneto (a) - HsienKo (a) - Dante (a)
The flow of the team is: You play Neutral utilizing jam session for Screen control and stray hit confirms. From JamSesh’s Hit (or from a random magneto hit) you must build AT LEAST 1 bar in your combo. End with Shockwave xx LeiLei Armor > Safe tag Dante. Your team order is now:
Dante - Magneto - LeiLei
Here’s what your team is capable of now: Teleport gives Dante a strong horizontal assist that can be used to get in or to 50/50 with teleport. Pendulum is an invincible assist with really nice lockdown that allows you to go HAM on close quarters and/or create 750k, 2 meters gained, 1 meter used Dante combos.
Dante dies.
Magneto comes in with access to a free “get-off me” assist that can also act as a lockdown for tri-j pressure. He gets hyper grav extensions off of her assist too. and decent DHCs into her.
Magneto dies.
You’re fucked.
You’re playing a 2char+assist team, so you’re not supposed to be getting anything from LeiLei. So you need to make your Dante and Magneto count. It’s very important to get the first hit. If it does not happen, or if LeiLei gets snapped in, you still have LeiLei/Dante Magneto/Dante which are “ok” and solid team comps, respectively.
Do you guys happen to know of any synergy between Felicia and Magneto? And would Felicia benefit from Disruptor well?
Trying to see if I can combine the 2 characters I enjoyed playing most. >.<
I’ve been messing around with Magneto/Dante/Akuma.
More people need to play Magneto/Akuma, Tatsu might not be as good as Drones but its as powerful as it was in vanilla except a bit harder to confirm stuff + XF3 Akuma has ridiculous comeback factor.
Plus can’t you confirm a hit from Tatsu by using M or H Hyper Grav?
You can use that to combo, but it’s not a practical hit confirm since hyper grav has a ton of startup and if you dont hit confirm you lose all your pressure by making that decision. You also want to do tridash mixups while the assist is hitting, and hypergrav wont allow that.
Hmm, After testing in the lab, Akuma’s wave dash is so ridiculously fast, was he always this fast, I wonder why dont more people use him on point/2nd considering this. Also the best hit confirm for tatsu in ultimate seems for me is IAD boxdash L blast into crH, works perfectly, L blast has enough hitstun for them to land smoothly into your crH(boxdash H will not allow this), and allow you to get a full bnb.
At the moment I’m running Mags(beam)/Dante(jam session)/Sent(drones). I’m really liking Mags backed by both drones and jam session. Jam session helps zone to some extent and provides some decent lock down. Normally I use drones to get in and jam session for the close range lock down. I was just wondering if there was some hidden tech I’m missing out on with Mags + jam session?
Repulsion + Jam Session is dumb.
Some tech I use.
Midscreen, attraction + Jam Session
Crossup boxdash L Blast + Jamsession, tridash overhead, jump, pushblock from jam session will create a double cross up and a tridash overhead for a 5 way bullshit mixup.
Corner Repulsion + Meaty Jamsession for a free tridash mixup after a knockdown, learn your timings, it is also possible to set it up so that you can crossup Forward rolls with JamSession + Repulsion. Corner conversions of Jam Session are as braindead as they come too, just S into H addf H H xx Hypergrab into loop, the S will work whether you crossed up or not. Because you run drones you can also use attraction + drones for another 50/50.
I personally think that Log Trap/Jam Session/Missiles(Vertical) + Cold Star/Drones/Tatsu(Horizontal) aree the best assists for any Magneto, and if you are running Magneto on 2nd/point without one of these assists you are doing it wrong.
Good stuff. Definitely going to be trying that stuff out. Thanks for the info.
Because his buttons are not good, he has short t-rex limbs, he hogs meter and doesn’t build much on his own. He’s really only effective on point if you have something like Drones or Missiles to help him get in but even then his mixup game is average. Besides being a great assist, he’s one of the best anchors in the game.
Akuma does massive damage from 1 hitconfirm though. Almost 900K 1 bar if you have the palm loops down.
Edit: Forgot to mention. One unnoticeable factor why Ryu is superior than Akuma on point is their cr.B. Ryu’s has his cr.mk and Akuma gets that shitty cr.mp. If Akuma had cr.mk instead, he would be soooooo much better.
wow, i never thought of that. You’re right.
True, his buttons have crappy range, but I highly disagree with Ryu being better than Akuma on point, Ryu’s normals are better, but thats his only advantage other than having better supers, Akuma has better damage/mobility/mixups/throw games and has the better aerial fireball. I guess if you are going to run him might as well run him and abuse that assist. He really seems pretty solid on point to me, nothing special but shuts down assist calls for free and has pretty decent mobility/zoning, Chris G has been putting in work with him counterpicking Akuma vs rushdown chars on point. But I guess he isn’t cheap enough, but I do see Akuma being pretty solid on point. Oh well enough sidetracking of thread.
I’m currently beginning with Magneto, teaming Magneto/???/Doom(MIssiles)
I wonder who to put in the middle. I can play with
- Storm (but she got replaced by Magneto, so don’t know)
- Sentinel (despite his great assist, I want to avoid him for how he suffers from his huge hitbox)
- Akuma (possibly moving Doom to be the second?)
- maybe someone completely different? Maybe Dorm? I’m not sure whether it’s a good idea to begin learning two characters at once…
Champ runs Dorm with that set up, and it’s pretty solid as both Magneto and Dorm utilize missiles very well. With Akuma you want to run Akuma on 2nd and not Doom because Doom has a very hard time confirming off Tatsu whileas Akuma utilizes Missiles very well and provides good support for Magneto, and is also easy to pick up. You can also play MorriDoom with Magneto as the starting battery, which is probably one of her stronger setups.
Other good setups
-Magneto/Doom/Ammy
-Magneto/Dante(jam or weasel)/Doom
-Mag/Task-straight/Doom
-Mag/Hawk-straight/Doom
-Mag/Strange/Doom
-Mag/Zero-Ryuenjin /Doom for those throw ToDs and invincible CCs or Zero/Mag/Doom
