MvC3: I'm Doing This For Mutantkind: The Magneto Team Thread

MDA: Solid team, its what I use and am probably going to stick with it. Solid on all fronts and synergy all around. Doom TACs, Ammy THCs, excellent utility and control team, has the best mix of offense and defense/keepaway i’ve seen.

MWD: Mags>Wesker DHCs are ass, pretty ass DHC synergy all around. Don’t rely on Wesker assist for combos, its dookie. Doom on anchor will make you want to ragequit this team as soon as you see that comebacks are very hard and very frustrating. If you really wanted to play this team, Mags/Doom/Wesker or Wesker/Doom/Mags with the intention of switching in anchors to point.

MTD: Better but, Doom anchor is still terrible. Not overall solid team.

MSD: No idea, no opinion on She hulk cause i’ve never seen. Doom anchor is still awful.

CMD: Doom is still awful on anchor. Not sure what you’d do with this team, although its still slighty better than previous options due to how powerful Cap and mags are with misisles.

MMD: Not bad I suppose. I think a different order would work better, as Mags/Morri are both better anchors, but running either in the back with missiles available seems a bit idiotic. Hard to get assist sniped with Morri, and you’ll get so much meter from zoning+assist spam that you can probably dump out shockwaves and have near infinite keepaway. DHC synergy to Morri is pretty bad, maybe run Mags/Doom/Morri, and try to DHC morri when you can ( the idea behind this is that if your 2nd dies immediately to incoming mixup, you still have the insurance policy of a strong anchor, and you safely get your anchor in if you DHC her as opposed to trying to escape mixup and dying and being stuck with a meh anchor )

MSD: Its alright, good DHC synergy, pretty good insurance policy on having Sent second with hard drive. Good synergy all around, although the problem with doom+sent teams is that you are extremely prone to being assist sniped. [/details]

Mags Doom Ammy has my vote and probably always will. Searched for a long time to find the perfect team ( Ironically, Magneto was the very first character I ever wanted to learn, and I spent months trying other characters. Delayed only because I was afraid of Mags execution requirements, found out hes actually pretty easy ). Honestly even if there are better teams than this, and i’m sure there are, it is so incredibly difficult to find a team that plays as fluid and seamlessly as this one. The synergy this team has is practically endless and it just feels so right to play, the only flaw I could /maybe/ see is that both Doom/Ammy are vulnerable doing their assists, however Cold Star is an assist that is meant to be called at certain times and during certain lockdown sequences that it should never be vulnerable. Other than that, I guess no horizontal assist? Not that it really matters, both point character have some of the best beams in the game on their own. Also I can’t really extend Doom combos with ammy assist and the DHC damage from Doom>Ammy is not that great but, very minor problem and easy workarounds.

Isn’t the mag/doom/ammy dhc have like some special combo or something?

It has access to the “Marlinpie” THC where your opponent is pretty much fucked if he ever calls an assist and you have 2 bars with Doom and Amaterasu left since Doom can hit off of the Okami Shuffle hard knockdown. Cold Star scales harder and doesn’t provide the assist extensions for Mag and Doom but I feel that the team is overall stronger than Magneto/Doom/Sentinel because of the THC and the fact that Amaterasu isn’t an awful anchor.

I run mag, cap, doom and it works fine. I do assist (shield slash) box air dash crossup magnetic blast A LOT (fucks people up).You got nice corner mixups with the same assist and repulsion, and since any combo that starts with magnus ends with a hyper charging star dhc you get to pull stupid shennanigans with cap and mags grab + doom missiles too. What I mean to say is that you don’t have to run cap first in order to use the other chars assists.

The only problem I see is doom as anchor. He’s just… predictable? I dunno, have to master the dash through advance guard thingie before even beginning to bitch about the doctor.

Anyway, solid team.

I used to run Mag, Ammy, Doom back in the dhc glitch day. That shit was cheap, lol

Doom anchor is ass IMO, even though I use him in one of my teams.

You are right. I never really thought about it, but he’s only something to be feared to people that don’t respect the footdive or air M cross-up. I don’t see any people in top 8 with doom as anchor, even DiosX prefers Sentinel anchor. I’m putting work into Ammy right now. I can play just about every character in the game, but I never touched Ammy that much. When are some good and safe times to call Cold Star with Magneto? I ask because there’s not much footage I can do research of since no big players in UMvC3 play Mag/Ammy.

I’m not very proficient with Ammy, but you can look up old vanilla Marlinpie vids to check it out. I’m trying out Dante/Magneto/Ammy after watching X-Ray today, fun team.

My only issue with ammy is that her combos aren’t self sufficient most of the times since the meter nerf but If you are running her anchor I guess it doesn’t matter.

You really don’t need to be an expert with the glaive to tear people up in lvl 3 though, lol.

Ammy is a beast of an anchor and Cold Star is an amazing assist, but that damage scaling is rough. If you’re gonna rely on Ammy you need to learn some great resets.

Nah, all you need is Doom TAC combos =p, builds 2-4 bars free, although its a bit tough trying to land Dooms level 3 at the end since you have to make sure they drop low enough.

depends. With the right TAC you’ll be doing more than 1.1 so you might not need it.

Off a cold star confirm? Doubtful, even with crazy execution and optimal TAC combo/direction i’d say you’d cap out at 850-900k max, good enough to deal with most of the cast I suppose.

any magnus teams in this game that are like MSP?

I’d have to say that the closest to MSP in this game would be either; Mag Doom Sent with hidden missiles, or Mag Jill Sent with Jill on arrow kick, or Mag Storm Akuma tatsu, or Mag Spencer Sent.

But of course none of these or any other that tries to be will never become what MSP once was in MvC2, but some can come pretty close.

You don’t want a team composition too much like MSP in this game. Having a powerful anchor for runback is pretty critical.

Wasn’t MSP Mag+Storm+Get off me assist attached to a character that can’t do anything on her own?

Just run Mag/Storm/Hulk with AA gamma charge if you want MSP that bad =p

Psylocke could actually hold her own, but no one knew how to use her like that…
