yeah, the only time I can get it to hit is when I use my dorm assist but h-ko normals + dorm’s dark hole = massive scaling
so maybe if a different assist(non-multi hitting) it would do much better I’ll try when I can with vipers burn kick but I think that pushes even further away but that just may give me the option of senpu bu instead of gong which is multi hitting I know, so we’ll see
If it’s at the end of a combo it probably won’t matter, seems like the scaling cap gets hit quite quickly in this game, at least that’s what I’ve observed ^^;
The scaling cap for some characters gets hit rather quickly. Hitstun decay rates seem completely arbitrary in this game and tend to make no sense. See Dante and Zero for primary examples.
What was good out of this is that tacking on a L Gong off of the :f: :h: is really impressive. Kinda tight timing, but definitely tacks on more damage for our standard BnB. It used to clock in around 420,000 damage, but with the addition of Ranadiel’s opening adds about another 100,000 to the overall damage. This is assuming you end with Tenraiha.
We should definitely see what the gongs can do for us in terms of combos. LLND showed some Gong loops in his latest tournament run and it should become a staple for all LeiLei mainers.
How many Gongs can you guys typically get in a loop? I’m having trouble getting more than two in because of her abnormally high hitstun rating (as in, she hits the ceiling very quickly, unlike some certain characters like Ranadiel said).
yeah definitely, I’ll be using it as my goto for mid screen stuff with the addition of the assist I get to complete the combo so I’m pretty happy with it especially considering what I was doing before lol.
I get 3 reps of the gong loop when I use it
I only run into issues when I launch them after I can only get two hits in the air or the air reset
oddly enough they flip out whether I do 3 or 2 reps of gongs
In regards to midscreen gongs, you can get a light gong off in a launcher combo, but it’s tricky. She has to kind of be underneath them in order for it to connect, and then you have a 1 frame window to to :l::s:. The other problem with this is that it kills her forward momentum, making hitting them with a super damn near impossible. While you can do an air exchange to keep the combo going, anything other than the downward exchange has a good chance of whiffing due to the weird hitbox on Hsien-Ko’s attacks. The downard exchange is her jumping kick, which has a large hitbox.
When it comes to damage and hitstun decay, most of the time you can point out the culprit to a multi-hitting attack. Hsien-Ko’s standing and jumping heavy attacks are awful for this; they rack up tons of decay with no real benefit. You don’t even gain more meter when using them in a combo - you gain less because the combo has to be cut so short.
Usually the solution to this is to try to remove multi-hitters from your combos, which you totally can with Hsien-Ko. I posted one awhile ago that allows for two gongs, built 1 solid bar of meter and dealt close to 700k when using Tenrai-ha and Cheiritou, but required you to be in the corner in order to execute it. The problem is that she STILL generates a ton of decay with her single hit normals and gongs. Even using an assist to extend her combos doesn’t work well because they’ll flip out on her next attack.
The cold, hard fact is that Hsien-Ko’s damage and hitstun decay rates are way too high on almost everything she does, which seems extremely unfair compared to characters like Zero, Magneto and Dante who can combo you all day.
But wait, she gets hyper armor. Balanced! -.-
Here’s a new combo I just worked out. Practiced it on the Hulk, unsure how well it would work on other body types, though chances are you might just have to adjust the timing. This is a corner only combo.
j.:s: | :d::h::f::h::rdp: (brief pause) | :f::h::rdp: (brief pause) | :f::h::rdp::d::h::s: | :s:
Does 485,400 damage and builds over 1 bar
Add Tenraiha for an estimated 632,900 damage.
I’m unsure if you could delay the :s: on the launcher portion long enough to make it so that you could teleport behind them for Tenraiha > Cheiritou, but I doubt it.
Play around with it and see what you guys can pull off, or post any issues that may come up practicing on other body types.
you know after reading viscant’s post in the tier list thread I really don’t think she’ll be getting any real buffs that we actually want
I think they had to tone her down because in development they found things that were just too good so we get messed up hit decay and poor damage output.
Anywho, I’ve gotten that combo to work on ammy pretty easily which is weird because on task it was a tough one
I’m going to see what happens if I try to relaunch after otg assist but I doubt I’ll get anywhere
*oh and I got 485,400 damage when I did it was that a typo?
Yes, it was a typo. Thanks for that!
ok, either I’ve been doing the gong loop wrong or llnd is doing some thing else
it looks like the magneto staircase combo but gong style lol
was he doing this last week?
I’m watching wnf right now he does it against mike ross
I’ll post the link and time when the stream gets uploaded
I bet the damage is ass because its hsien but it looked so pretty
LLND repping hsien-ko and kicking ass. That was some good stuff.
My version of that corner loop that Ranadiel posted is like 2H 6H 421H x3 on most characters. It works best against thin and small body types since there is no delaying involved. I’ll make a video of it in the near future.
Got a decent midscreen combo with Cap too (works on most):
j.M j.S 5M 2M 2C (delay) 6H+A1 421H (Shield should be on its way back) 66 5M 2C 5S air combo <-- Does around 445,000
Good call Shinobi. I can see the heavy version of Gong probably working best because Hsien-Ko recovers just in time to hit :f::h:.
One thing I was wondering, how many gong loops can Hsien-Ko score in the corner if you forgo the launcher combo? Maybe there’s a chance she’d deal more damage and build more meter if you just kept looping gong, eventually canceling into a super?
Yes that lei lei was too sick. Man it even makes me wanna play her
I can’t do gong loops for shit If I’m successful I still have issues with them being too high after the launcher sigh
Looking forward to those WNF videos :3
Max is 3 from what I’ve done. Any more, they start to tech from 6H.
either do what shinobi does and use h for gong
or delay/pause your :f::h:
if you hit them too high after the gong then they will be too high so just pause some
For the life of me, I can’t seem to get Heavy Gong to combo into Edoga in the corner. The recovery on Gong seems way too long, causing Edoga to whiff every time, even when I mash the crap out of it.
ok so, is this the most we’re getting damage wise in the corner no x-factor 2 meters or less?
^you’re probably just use to the m gong timing that’s all
