MvC3 guide is totally awesome

Is there 100% combos in the guide? How bout a team building guide? If there is at least one of those i will consider buying it , if both are in there i will purchase tonight on amazon.

Guides have been good starting around the T5 era when they actually had arcade pros write the guide instead of some nobody who’s “good” at the game within their office.

guys…alpha 2…know your history…

Thanks to the alpha 2 guide I was first able to understand fighting games properly. It was good.

Capcom has posted a preview of the guide here

Here’s Wolverine

Here’s Ryu

brb, pre-ordering.

Very nice, but there is always the chance that Capcom could update MVC3 with a balance patch. Certain parts of the guide such as frame data would obviously become outdated. Still, it is good enough for strategies, combos and fundamentals.

Looks good so far. Interested in learning more about X-23,Wesker and Shulkie!

Im buying 2 cuz i can :3

Looks good. I’m glad I went ahead and reserved mine. Really looking forward to seeing my mains and the frame data.

Checked out the PDFs. Not bad. Might actually pick it up.

Does this thing have any info on hitstun scaling?

It has all the moves for Shuma and Jill in it too. That alone is pretty awesome.

Anyone know what the Chain Combo Archetypes are?

As in how many are there and what do they mean?

Just read the PDFs. Good shit, and I wouldn’t mind picking it up.

Buctooth how deep is the combo system in this game? Thoughts so far? I hope it’s as deep as you make it out to be.

So in the small chance there is a competitor guide, we can assume the bradygames one is the good one.

Plenty, and there is team discussion throughout the guide.

Here you go.

MvC2 is my favorite game. Ever. It was an (exhausting, rewarding) honor to lead the guide for its sequel. Everyone involved, from our contacts at Marvel and Capcom, to our designers, editors, and my co-authors, put in tremendous effort to match my enthusiasm and give this game the jumping-off point and long-term reference it deserves.

Of course, myself and Adam, Campbell, and Ian have acknowledgments in the guide itself. To reiterate here, though, I have to thank:

Ryota Niitsuma and his team, and everyone else involved at Capcom and Marvel, for the game I didn’t think could happen. From a Vs. series fanatic, let me assure you it was worth the wait.

Our contacts at Capcom and Marvel for their invaluable assistance. Most of you just know about Seth, and he’s unquestionably awesome, and handed over entirely too much of his insane schedule to accommodate our questions. A considerable amount of people who you don’t know about toil too, though. Writing a good guide is really hard, and takes months. Making a good game is way harder, and takes years.

On that note, thanks to Seth Killian and Wes Phillips of Capcom, and Chris Baker of Marvel, for biggin’ us up in public. I don’t think I can do any better than making them proud of the guide for their game.

My co-authors for their backbreaking work. None of us got much sleep for the last couple months. The 400 page print guide I hope you’ll enjoy started as a manuscript exceeding 1000 pages, and I don’t even want to know how many words.

The diligent design and editing staff of BradyGAMES. Fitting all our content into the space we had, under an almost impossible time crunch, was no small feat. I saw the first printed guides at the beginning of this week, and they look fantastic.

Mia, my girlfriend, for not murdering me.

To the legendary SFA2 guide, for being the benchmark, and setting off a light bulb over my head, among many others, years and years ago. We can’t match its star power – no guide can. Content, though? I think we win. Blasphemy? Up to you.

Thanks also to anyone who picks up the guide. Please understand that we can’t really answer every question, nor should we – your bosses might not love it if you answered every question about your process in public, either! Like Campbell said, I think the guide will speak for itself once you see it. If there’s something you love or hate, feel free to let me know in PMs or this thread. If you have specific questions about availability or distribution globally, the best place for it is the BradyGAMES page on facebook.

There is no competing official guide.

joe

i just saw the ryu and wolvie scans. if the rest of the guide is even half as good as that its a completely awesome product.

the fact that you reference the a2 guide as a stepping stone and that you think that your guide is comparable, is testament enough to buy it. as someone that spent probably HUNDREDS of hours looking at the a2 guide, i can attest to it and the tekkn tag guides as the best ever. after seeing the scans, i think you guys might really have a contender for the top spot. good job and thanks for the work you’ve done. it is appreciated.

im considering of buying it

If the man who wrote this has that much dedication behind his work, then I have full confidence in my purchase.

THIS, for f*ck’s sake! Alpha 2 VS Books guide is the stuff of legends and still the best American FG book ever hands-down
