MvC3: Final Justice! The Captain America Thread

My way to escape pressure = call in Haggar lol

When I’m getting rushed down by a Wolverine or Zero, I usually wait for them to try an overhead and then HSS. Most of the time, one of their assists will be out at the same time and it’ll hit both of them.

Depends on the range is how I play him, and the character. If it’s a rush down character like Felicia or Wolverine, I try to stay at mid-ish range, calling in Doom beam and using :l: shield slash, if it’s a turtle like Dorm or Deadpool I stay as close as possible as I can. Regardless I always play at a range where I can capitalize on Captain America’s rush down abilities.

As for the pressure, I find you really have to be able to read your opponent well to get out of pressure with Cap. His HSS is godlike for eliminating pressure/momentum, granted if you see a limb come out or something, and if you threw it out randomly, dhc into safety. That’s all he has really, or you can be like Gysbert and call in Haggar. :karate:

The beauty with Hagar is you can link it into a shield loop and turn it into some damage and DHC out, bad thing about that is if the opponent sees it coming he can bait it out and punish the Mayor :frowning:

For freedom Combofiend will be rocking Cap´n America today.

For reals? godlike!! Can’t wait to see that.

Someone said he posted that on his twitter but lets just wait and see.

i saw that set he used with cap - nothing really happened then he switched teams.

oh well - back to the lab as soon as my spring break is over. Sorry I haven’t posted much new stuff I only got to play at one tournament. Top 8 at the Seattle tourney but I don’t think I played that well really. not a bad turnout and pretty good competition so not a bad placement, but I still feel I could have done much better.

I’ll get some stuff for y’all though! Promise :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I made top 8 at a Philly tournament, go america!

<rant>
Why did they nerf Hyper Stars & Stripes in this game? I’ve been knocked out of it by Akuma’s hurricane kick many times (this move is so good it has its own thread), I lost to Chun’s standing :h:, and unless my eyes deceived me, I swear some random character took me out with a puny jab!

Only the beginning of HSS has invincibility. You have to use it earlier if you want to beat out those attacks. Use the frame data thread for reference.

you aren’t invincible for years like you are with akuma’s - you can’t be beat at the beginning of that move - like he said - frame data thread!

Just started playing with Captain America this weekend. He’s almost as bad as I thought he was, lol. I’m having a blast with him though and probably need to come up with a better team to use with him.

And is it just me or is Final Justice one of the worst lvl 3’s in the game?

it’s just you. it’s one of the most damaging level 3s and its amazingly easy to combo into. you’re just trying to use it how you’d use some other ones on reaction - and it isn’t invincible on startup.

The reason is it doesn’t’ need to be. You have hyper charging star to get through projectile hypers and you have stars and stripes for the standard physical attacks.

Alex Valle was rocking Cap HARD on stream @ Fight for Relief - really solid stuff from him! I’ll find a link later.

Yeah, the startup and the lack of invincibility on Final Justice is disappointing though. I saw the stream of Alex playing and it was impressive.

alright one bit of information not talked about much, if you have your opponent in the corner and you’re RELATIVELY CLOSE (normally x factor helps keep this safe and effective) you can throw a light shield slash from the air then jump in, the 2nd hit of the shield slash will actually pull them out of the corner if they block it for a crossup that would’ve otherwise been impossible. i do it at the end of this match

ALRIGHT one MORE bit of information - this one I hope most of you have learned for yourselves…

SO you know how we all see that jumping S as some amazing air normal? Well it’s not. In fact, it’s awful. It has its uses in some crossup situations as it can be confusing to block, but jumping down H is one of the best normals I have ever seen. It has SUCH a good hitbox. If your opponent tries to anti-air with a normal then most likely you just got yourself a combo opportunity. Crazy priority, GREAT angle, and starts a billion combos a minute. I LOVE down H in the air and S in the air just gets beat by everything ever.

Just stopping by to say it.

Derp, originally posted this in the wrong thread.

So, I was wrong, you can use shield slash assist twice in one combo.

There seem to be some conditions though…

 • Have to hit with the first hit of shield slash assist
 • Have to NOT combo into next hit of shield slash assist
 • But next hit of shield slash HAS to be first hit in your combo

Once you start your combo, you can call shield slash assist again anytime you want.

Not to sure on the first part, but it’s what I’m finding so far… I didn’t test to see when they block it… d’oh.

Thanks for the info Gimpy. I’ve noticed that my air S gets stuffed more often than it should. I was messing around with Caps Air down H noticed it seems to come out quicker and has odd cross up possibilities.

Yeah, thanks Gimpy. I was noticing my Air S was truly terrible unless used as a crossup. As a crossup is amazing, but as a jumpin it’s crap. I’ve been trying to switch up between the 2 the make my jumpin ambigious.
