It’s not a divekick. It’s just a normal…normal it seems. Dive Kicks take the user all the way to the ground, that one did not.
Call it whatever you want. It’s a quick, downward attack that starts offense.
Okay, most characters have that…Cap’s doesn’t propel him anywhere though…so it’s not special in the least.
I think you’re looking at it wrong. Cap jumps straight up, and then attacks diagonally down.
I bet you $200 that’s not a Dive Kick.
LOL Serious business. Calm down and look at the video. It does propel him. He starts in a neutral position. Call it a dive kick or not, I don’t care. It certainly looks interesting for a character who needs some extra tools. Getting into a debate about the definition of a divekick is ridiculous.
It doesn’t propel him, and even if it did, I guarantee he doesn’t have it now. The reason I’m serious is because I don’t want people getting their hopes up for nothing because he DOES need it.
Yea it DEFINITELY looks like it makes him fall faster than normal. To hell with whatever label you guys wanna put on it. I’d love to see him use it at the end of an air series. If it ground bounces the opponent (like Phoenix’s (air):d:+:h:) then that would be lawls.
Just goes to show how few people are using Cap…
Alright, whatever, clearly I’m outnumbered, believe whatever y’all want, it’s on you if you get disappointed with it not being there.
Do you really think a divekick is going to get people OVERLY excited for a character in MvC3? It certainly isn’t helping Wolvie right now. I’ve seen Caps jumping normals in combos; none of them look like that. This leaves me to believe that it’s a command normal. It looks like it propels him forward based on the distance he is away from Magneto when he neutral jumps, and the speed at which he lands. Hell, Magneto is even walking back a bit when it comes out and it still reaches him.
Edit: Fine. Let’s agree to disagree. To me, it looks like a tool that Cap can really use at the moment. Maybe there’s more to be discovered.
Barring a hidden tri-dash (lol), then yeah, that’s some sort of command normal that moves him down fast.
Cammy dive kick or what lol certainly LOOKS like a dive kick. But we only saw it at the peak of his jump.
We’ll see.
Yea it definitely looks like some sort of fast fall move. You can see him doing the same normal earlier in the vid without the fast fall.
“Dive kick”
Maybe it´s not a “special” move, like the wolvie’s one. But can be used LIKE a special move to make a fast dive kick.
Actually he kicks twice. Each kick makes him move a little. If it can be used when he´s at the beginning of the jump, rising, it can make you change from a stand attack to a air attack in a fast way.
I hope he still has this move. We are not going to see cap with an air dash again or a new special move. So, this little details can make the difference.
I know it sounds crazy, but I actually trust that Capcom didn’t forget to give this Cap tools to compete. The age of MVC2, when you coul dmake a fighting game without considering balance for every character are gone. Maybe that dive kick is a gap closer, maybe not. Either way, I think we’re all going to enjoy the character a lot.
Reminds me of Rogues divekick.
Cap had that exact same kick in MvC2, it was down+roundhouse in the air. It’s probably down+c in this game, whereas neutral c is the move that was his air fierce in 2. Honestly, it was nothing to write home about in 2, and I mainly used fierce over that one due to a larger hitbox at the cost of some speed, which really wasn’t too much of an issue if you timed it right.
Air fierce in MvC2 is air E(or P or w/e the fuck it’s called) in MvC3.
I agree. I just can’t see them thinking that the shield hit coming back was the only thing he needed.
Cool now we have character sections. To let you all know that. When the actual game comes out someone else can take over Captain America’s forum. I don’t think I’ll be getting the game so it wouldn’t be right for a non-player to be running his thread.
