I think at that time it was too risky against the likes of Magneto or Zero since they are in the air all the time. Maybe it was just me not thinking straight at the time. lol
Well yeah there was the one match where you got in on X Ray’s Ammy when you were in level 3 XF and you should have easily been able to just do like one s.L tick into L command grab. Pretty much once you force someone to block a s.L in level 3 XF that shit is pretty free. Nobody ever jumps away from the first grab and once you get them afraid of the grab that’s when the air throws come in when they jump.
Magneto and Zero is understandable since they’re in the air but Felicia’s retardo air throw range blows them up too if they’re not careful. Especially if you’re in XF3 where you’re super fast also.
As more info of the new characters comes up, I’ll make sure to update the team building thread accordingly.
Well, i want to main the cat lady! And, after hearing her buffs for Ultimate, im going to want to get used to this character… i’ve ben playing Theory Felicia all day, and my team would be : Fel/Task/???.
I dont know if i should save for Xfactor 2-3, or start her on point…which am i better off doing?
And, who is the preferred assist characters for her? Besides Dante, i cant pull off his stupid shit for the life of me.
You don’t need to do all the crazy shit with Dante to get a whole lot of mileage out of him. Simple relaunch combos can get a lot of damage (700k, more or less), plus Dante’s Teleport w/ Rolling Buckler Assist is just too damn good. As far as I’m concerned, the two were made for each other - I sometimes wonder if his white clothing/blue hair color option was intentionally reminiscent of Felicia.
Felicia needs an anti-air assist if you are going to run her on point. Aside from Dante, the only other decent options I can think of include Haggar’s Lariat (this’ll only work if they are jumping in on you, though - not if they are using flight) and Hulk’s anti-air (watch Mike Ross use it to devastating effect. It’s one of the only true anti-air assists in the game, thanks to it’s super armor).
isnt his Simple Relaunch combo getting nerfed? I dont wanna get used to something, and then be lost after its gone… unless he has another wolv style combo i havent seen yet
So, im better off Playing her in 2nd-3rd spot? Since she has Wesker speed and an Infinite combo, i’d figure as much. Also, kinda combo related, but Can i link H cat Spike in PHM? If so, then Dante would seem like Felicia’s “Akuma” in Best Friends, except Both friends get help from each other…
So, Dante(until i can get a good combo down,not happening)/Felicia/???
id figure, if im using Jam Session, then i have covered her weakness, AND i got crossup tricks with Command Dash… so what else would a need? Someone to Compliment Dante, or the good ol’ beam assist?
What’s the point of needing an anti air assist for Felicia? Huge range air throw and M and H cat spikes aren’t good enough? Air delta kick buff will help her stuff a lot of air based zoning and get her in faster also. Like I don’t see what Haggar specifically does for a character like Felicia but protect her from damage and take advantage of her OTG abilities so she can have 30 year hit confirms off him.
How are they nerfing Dante’s bog-standard combo?
I’ve been trying to get Felicia and Haggar to work together because of the trailer but they seem have pretty poor synergy Giant Haggar Press only works after Dancing Edge in the corner (and seems to miss a few characters) and they always jump out of the end of Rapid Fire Fist
Cat spike are too unsafe for me. Air throws are great, but they are literally her only option. Felicia’s air game is garbage. Solution: keep them grounded. Haggar only helps when they approach from the skies - not the best option, but AAA are mostly garbage in this game. Dante and Hulk are obviously far superior.
The only place that’s worst than the air is long range. However, Rolling Buckler, Delta Kick, Cat Crawl, Wall Cling, and Wavedashing keep this from being a problem. The air? It’s either go for throws predictably, or risk missing with a Cat Spike and giving your opponent the entire weekend to react to it if it gets blocked.
Also, Rolling Uppercut has no invincibility, so I always pick a good AAA just to be sure. A projectile assist really helps too, which is why Tasky and her have synergy because Tasky can do both (he also builds meter really quick, so more helpers!).
Well with that logic you’re pretty much looking at Dante Jam Session (meh) or Doom Hidden Missles (most likely better) being a required assist for Felicia on point. With Dante’s Jam Session you still have to worry about the fact that he puts his whole body out in front of you which means characters like Magneto can easily just run shockwave XF shockwave and get him off the screen. Now you don’t have your AA assist anymore that’s supposedly required for Felicia to amount an offense. That happened to Crispy Tacoz in his match against X Ray. Hulk’s AA assist isn’t going to help you that much outside of the fact that it’s armored. The horizontal hit box for that move is terrible and he always appears next to Felicia which means unlike Jam Session or Missles you already have to be in rushdown range to even get use out of it. You’ll have your instances where it’ll work but a lot of the time IMO you’ll just see yourself having Felicia do some damage and then Dante just coming in to clean up for her.
For what you guys are looking for Hidden Missles would be a great consideration because unlike Jam Session or Hulk assist it actually tracks where the opponent is moving. Which gives Felicia an actual chance to fight down even characters like Trish or Phoenix. On top of that hidden missles act as a natural combo breaker to save you from getting hit as well Doom appears behind Felicia which makes him less obvious or easy to punish compared to Dante strumming his guitar going “kill me shockwave/legion arrows/akuma beam”. Maybe Dante releases a bit faster but jam session IMO is better with characters that can lame out and shoot weapons to cover people jumping in. Using Jam Session specifically to set up offense is more of a liability than anything outside of trapping people in the corner (which is the only way my X23 ever uses him). Doom is a great character in general because he’s a great point character but also has 3 of the best assists in the game. He’s the only character in the game where like all 3 of his assists work as power assists for different teams.
In general though with maining X23 it’s not too much different from Felicia in that you have stubby air normals or air throw as one of your only scary attacking tools in air to air situations. Either way you can’t sleep on them because X23 has the best dash in the game so she can easily get into range to hit you with those stubby normals or air throw you and her fastest jump normal is like 4 frame start up. She has a lot of aerial maneuvers that are great for air to ground situations like her talon attacks which give her nasty mix ups and traps with the right horizontal assists and a wall jump that’s pretty much completely better than Felicia’s outside of not going as high in the air. I don’t really ever feel a need to use Dante’s jam session to keep people on the ground with X23 though since her movement is so good you’ll eventually get in somehow. Just like with Felicia…Dante’s Jam session is doing jack shit to save Felicia from Dorm spamming assists, dark holes and flame carpets if she’s up first on point. At least with hidden missles you’ll have a chance to shut something down guaranteed.
The only characters I can think of that would near totally shut her down offensively is Trish and maybe Dormammu loaded with assists but she can always Weapon X Prime through that and safe DHC into either Dante or Doom if it’s blocked.
Heavy Cat Spike is such a terrible move. The startup is huge and Felicia’s hurtbox is so huge, I was always getting air thrown out of the move or hit with normals that would flat out beat it - not even trade! For the most part I don’t even use it anymore - with the exception of a couple of combos that incorporate it.
If they want to make the move useful, they need to adjust the hitboxes on and and reduce the startup/recovery.
I like Dante assist with Felicity because it allows her to extend combos by doing whatever into Toy Touch + Dante xx tk buckler xx uppercut, H cat spike (causes bounce).
From there due to hit stun decay she could only do launch, spike, toy touch xx super, but you have reset opportunities off of the bounce and any of the toy touches. Carries crazy far as well
Plus it allows her to keep people from flying around and it can be added in ground strings at points where she command dashes or crosses up with m spike.
Def not the best defensive assist though.
She works best imo as #2 with meter so that she can come in with kitty helper as well as able to tag on dancing flash at the end of combos for extra dmg. Also anytime xf2 felicity lands a hit on a grounded character, that’s gg infinite. Don’t let that hoe know its her birthday

Yeah that would be about the best use that Jam Session would have for Felicia. Either get another assist to help lock people down in conjunction with the assist or just go with missles. Jam Session is not going to keep Trish or Magz on the ground with any sort of consistency. You’ll be lucky if the assist makes contact with them. The most mileage you’re going to get out of it competitively is to lengthen combos just like most other teams that end up using it. Dante is a stronger point character than Felicia any ways so you’re better off putting Dante first and then using Felicia’s XF2 plus assist to give you more room to rush down the lame out. XF2 or XF3 Felicia is impossible to runaway from unless you’re Wesker mashing on ports.
Yea, mags is what made me drop felicia (f you Droid autocorrect) tbh. She is easy to push block out and while her air throw imo is the best in the game, her j.C is so bad that if you mess up that’s the death.
Air delta kick and buckler no longer bouncing is going to be huge. Hope they give her back her adv on neko punch and give blocked buckler current neko frames on block

She’s only easy to lame out if you don’t use XF. With XF you don’t even need an assist to run delta kick and L/M cat spike block strings that don’t get affected much at all by advance guard. With command grabs in the mix that’s already enough to blow most characters up easily. Plus kitty helper can’t be advance guarded either so if you get room to set up kitty helper Felicia with XF literally becomes walking death. Once she approaches plus kitty helper you might as well put the stick down. Even without XF she has a ton of moves without assist that help her stay in on advance guards.
I think Felicia is like Wolverine where she gets lamed out without XF but if you give her level 2 XF with assist and don’t worry about burning your XF early or just juicing her out as XF3 anchor you’ll get more mileage out of her. She has way too many advantages in XF (just like X23) to not warrant burning XF2 early or going for the full on XF3. That way you don’t need Dante’s jam session to get in and tear through a team. There’s some characters where you just can’t be afraid to get XF turned on for to get going and Felicia definitely seems to be one of them. She goes from a threat to fucking dangerous with XF2/3. She is nearly impossible for most characters to turtle in XF2 or 3.
The overall strategy would be to either have XF2 Felicia with an assist to start blowing up a team early. The second option being having your first 2 characters to tear down a team and save XF3 for Felicia plus kitty helper so she has a sure fire 20 seconds to act like an idiot and tear down the last character or 2. She has infinite block strings with her special moves that blow up advance guard and if she has kitty helper out near them it’s over.
In general it seems like a lot of people in this thread use Felicia as their first love on point style character but you should definitely try the XF approach and see her specific advantages when you turn on the rage.
Yea, XF2+ Felicia should be killing a character every time. While that can be said about any character, she is one of the few that can pop it on block and go bananas still.
Dante assist is also solid for her mix ups due to all of the hits. I was running Felicia/Ammy/Dante day 1 but then switched to Ammy_Dante/Felicia/Sent before finally dropping her and playing Dante/Ammy/Sent.
Dante is a solid partner for her imo. DHC glitch, meter, jam session (or weasel shot). Unfortunately she has so many holes (snicker) to cover she NEEDS assists. Too easy for Clay Matthews to get in there and blow it up.

I honestly don’t think she needs any assists if you use the XF3 route and have people clean up for her. Especially with the air delta kick buff to help shut down air zoning in XF3 you’re just going to be able to run around like an idiot now. As long as she doesn’t get killed by a welcome mix up you’re ready to start tearing through the last character or 2. XF2 may need an assist to help against the lamest of characters but that’s about it.
Again…if worst comes to worst…safe DHC into DT Dante or raw tag into Dante and now lame out characters are no longer a problem because now you’re a slick looking guy with a bunch of projectiles, a huge sword and a teleport that tracks lame out tactics. You’re better off having an anchor or secondary point character to tag in if you’re somehow dealing with an insurmountable lame out than having to necessarily get her off your team.
I havent seen any umvc3 vids. I did read though that the speed/dmg boost is universal. Any word on her infinite and dk corner lockdown still working? Air dk into dk lock would be hilarious.

They might take away the infinite but the infinite was hardly the reason she is stupid good in XF2/3. It was really just insult to injury if anything. I hear they’re getting rid of a lot of the XF infinites so I wouldn’t expect it to stay. Corner lockdown with delta kick would most likely still work the same since that’s not really a combo but more so just a lock down via block strings.
