MvC3: Dead Like Me: The Hsien-Ko Team Disscussion thread

Started running Chun-Li/Lei Lei/Doom. I’ve been doing rather well so far but I’m having trouble when it comes down to Lei Lei’s defense. What do you guys usually do against constant attackers that can cone in a normal jump height?

I’ll probably be corrected on this, but it depends on the match up. Against non-teleporters like Zero, your best options are to just jump and gong. Mix it up with M Anki Hou and H Anki Hou. You should basically always be using the H version of gongs as well. If you want to get in close, master your plink dash and learn to follow your own gongs. Note, this is dangerous against hypers that can blow through gong (Legion Arrow, Shinkuu Hadouken, etc.)

Hey, I have a question: In my efforts to create a zombie team, I’ve settled on Nemesis/Hsien-Ko/Arthur (Alt). I know this isn’t really the best team for Hsien-Ko, but I don’t really have enough experience with her to really do anything other than troll Hawkeye one time. What should I be doing with her here?

I think I found a nasty frame trap with Hsien-Ko. End a blockstring with cr.H, f.H, then jump-cancel, airdash forward, j.H, then follow up with a cr.L or cr.H, depending on how far you are from the opponent. Is this already known and/or is there a more optimal way to do this?

Try to build 1 extra bar with Nemesis on point or do a reset into a kill combo so you can set up a DHC with Hsien-Ko’s hyper armor. The set up is really easy, just do any combo into his rockets hyper, then DHC to her hyper armor aright after the stomp portion of the other hyper. When Nemesis dies, you can attempt doing some zoning with Hsien-Ko and Arthur’s daggers assist. His assist could also be used for some lockdown and pressure on the right situation so you can have an opportunity to do a mix up or two. You can try doing hyper armor then DHC to Arthur, but I wouldn’t really recommend that since Arthur doesn’t get much from a lockdown assist. It serves better as a gtfo assist for Arthur’s case. Also, Nemesis and Arthur’s assist can be used to extend Hsien-Ko’s combo which is a good thing to boost her damage.

The problem with that is that most will push block her on her cr.H or f.H so the j.H would usually whiff. A lockdown assist can make it possible to negate the push block, but if the lockdown is long enough, it’s better to do her cross teleport mix ups as long as they’re locked down long enough.

First time posting but I run Nova/Hsien/Felicia

Do you enjoy running with felicia on point? I find it easier to TAC with Nova at least and I justr hard tag into Felicia after

And am I by myself or does no one else love running Hsien as an anchor? (yeah her xfactor buffs arent great)

I messed around the other day with this Darkstalkers team that I want to learn and was straight mauling. Felicia/Lei Lei/Morrigan.

I had Felicia with the relentless rushdown with Lei Lei’s Pendulum assist and Morrigan on anchor with Soul Fist. The couple of matches I played with some friends, I barely even switched off of Felicia. I usually play keepaway with MorriDoom but my Felicia teams are all based on rushdown.

If I can learn Lei Lei I think this would be a scary alternate team to learn. What kind of assist does Lei Lei need? I guess this is an ususual question since most people use Lei Lei for her Pendulum assist.

It’s not reasonable for me to try and wait for 3 bars most of the time, either.

  4. Two low damage characters. Dr. Strange does good damage, but Hsien-ko and Shuma-Gorath don’t, even in their full combos (which I admittedly can’t do).

  5. No good use for X-Factor outside of Dr. Strange, so if he dies there’s almost no chance of making a comeback.

All of this leads me to what should be an obvious conclusion: Hsien-ko/Dr. Strange rocks, but Shuma-Gorath needs to be replaced. I don’t think Amaterasu is a contender because she would have problems similar to Shuma-Gorath in getting zoned (my opponent was using Morrigan/Hidden Missiles). Right now, the team weighs too much on Dr. Strange, so I think I need another character that can really abuse Senpu Bu and Bolts of Balthakk. Doom is definitely a candidate for this, since he is good at getting in without using specials so he can call Senpu Bu at any time. The character also has to be good on point, because I don’t want Hsien-ko or Dr. Strange taking damage so I can preserve the former for her assist and the latter as my true point character once I get him in. I also felt like my meter was completely wasted in going from Shuma-Gorath to Hsien-ko, because Hsien-ko just tagged out. I’d like a setup where Hsien-ko can follow up after the DHC to try and TAC glitch the opponent (since she’s not susceptible to TAC counters while armored, though the TAC itself can still be countered).

Current thoughts:
Doom (still)

Skrull - gets full combos from Bolts of Balthakk, high damage and health, good DHC to
Hsien-ko through Skrull Torch (I assume), Senpu Bu gives him nasty command grab setups, excellent user of X-Factor

Spencer - gets in for free, loves Senpu Bu for mix-ups, Bionic Arm to Rimoukon is a good combination, big damage, good X-Factor user, and slant shot is a good assist for Impact Palm into big damage

I think I’ll give Spencer a try, but I’m open to other suggestions, as always. I’m also considering Morriganuote]

I would go with Super Skrull if I were you. I play skrull on point w/ Hsien-Ko/Sentinel as a secondary team. Senpu Bu does wonders in setting up opponents for skrull command grabs. I usually call Hsien-Ko assist before I meteor smash to the other side. Skrull standing H or orbital grudge+fatal buster are great ways to confirm offf the Hsien-Ko assist. I could name alot of moves of theirs you could link together. The synergy is there. Havent tried Hsien-Ko w/doctor strange yet but judging from previous posts they seem to make a good fit

Can Hsien-Ko do anything relevant with Nemesis or Jill behind her? I’m wanting to run Wesker/Hsien-Ko/???, and I’m trying to find an appropriate anchor for team “Wesker’s Labratory”. Might try something with MODOK, Iron Man, or Ammy behind her if Jill and Nemesis are completely worthless behind Hsien-Ko.

I usually aim to get 2 bars with Nemesis and go for a TAC into Hsien-Ko, land, gold tag and DHC into rocket super.

I like to try a mixup on incoming characters where I go for Nemesis command grab while calling Hsien-Ko (gold, obviously) to cover.

Nemesis doesnt have any good assists. So he doesnt have a lot synergy, in my opinion.

So…capcom is thinking of rebalancing marvel what do you guys want to see buffed?

buff damage on Tenraiha definitely

swing cancel like in Darkstalkers. everyone has been asking for this since the game came out

give her some better tools to avoid being lamed out

Reduce her damage scaling. makes no sense that she has so many multi-hits but scales like Hulk or Nemesis without the base damage.
Make her walk, dashes, and mobility in general faster.
Increase Gold Armor duration by 50%.
Cancelable Seppu Bu.
Make items more varied, but make all possible items good.
Give her a real OTG to combo after her command throw. FFS, all Wesker needs to do is DASH AND JAB to convert.
Make her dash go farther.

^^^Those are all good suggestions, it would definitely move her up several tiers without breaking her.

How to fix Hsien-Ko’s items (Coming from a GGXXAC Faust main)
-Axe: 10 durability points, slowish
-Kunai: Keep current durability, make it faster
-Yashichi/Pinwheel: Explodes like a bomb on hit, Nullifies ALL projectiles it contacts
-Chun’s Bracelet: Does [number of spikes on the bracelet] hits, 3 durability points
-Shuriken: Same properties as Kunai
-Cat Doll: Causes dizzy on counter hit only, 5 durability points
-Sword: 5 durability points
-Chunk of Meat: 3 durability points
-Oil Drum: 10 low priority durability points
-Bombs: Now detonate if the opponent enters hitstun/knockdown state near the bomb or if Hsien-Ko is hit, multiple bombs can exist at once
-Snowman: Increase hitstun, 5 low priority durability points
-Stun Rod: See Snowman
-Samurai Doll: If the doll connects, it preforms a small air combo on the opponent
-Bonsai: 5 low priority durability points
-Star: 10 low priority durability points

Do you guys think we need a thread to come up with abunch of different buffs for Hsien-ko?

It would be nice to separate this discussion into its own designated thread.

P.S. Her frame data needs to be changed. It’s stupid. Most of her moves have the same advantage/disadvantage on block and hit.
