How do KOF 98 UM and 2k2 UM stack up in regards to balance? They seem fairly well balanced for the size of the rosters.
sigh…
MVC3 should be faithful to the comics IMO for example:
Spiderman: One More Playthrough
When you beat the arcade mode with Spiderman, he makes a deal with Mephisto, and you go back to stage one, like you never beat the arcade mode at all.
All Blackheart really needs is his J.MP outside of combos and he’d be beast. The only problem with MVC2 was that some characters were denied use of their useful Medium attacks, Rogue’s C.MP for example would’ve been so good and given her a full screen wavedash.
Oh and my baby Rogue, please be in this!
The character selection screen music.
I want to take you for another ride!!!
Damn that! Capcom needs to have JustBlaze do the MvC3 soundtrack, the SSF4 commercial is just TOO good!
I think he was asking if that was a joke considering that Tekken and Soul Cal are 3D and made by namco while Marvel and most capcom games with large rosters are 2-D and made by capcom.
Nah, they need Red Rapper to do it. His version is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better.
Jus Blaze just yells stuff and doesn’t actually do a verse.
And is still better than redrapper.Keep that mike shinoda copycat out of my game.
Hes not supposed to do a verse, hes solely a producer(one that doesnt rap). Yea Red Rapper on the JustBlaze beats for the soundttrack = PURE WIN!
Nope we don’t need mike shinoda junior on the tracks at all. Just blaze should have used exhibit c for the soundtrack.
Only 2 more days, this is so freaking exciting. I hope they keep us updated with weekly updates like Nintendo did with Smash Bros Brawl.
The sub-topic was balance among large rosters, not for which game. Nobody’s that dodgy. lol
98um and 2002 um. Everybody can win convincingly.
LOL, it does seem that way. I’d have to agree with Nokato for sure here though. I can back this up for a few reasons.
Capcom truly stood out back in the rise of the fighting game market not only because they nearly pioneered it (singlehandedly) but because they a TEAM of elite concept artists powering the visuals of the game. Those visuals led to some of the most iconic games in the world, and even are referenced as pop culture references today. Hell, my mom played SF2, she thought ChunLi was cool…the art allowed appeal to markets and demographics everywhere.
So, the fact that Nokato, myself and others stand so strongly for the visuals…makes total sense. Its one of the most important factors there is.
Now, with a game like Marvel 3, its even MORE important to me to have a great 2d game. Why? Well, last I checked…comics aren’t a bunch of 3d models. This made the older Marvel Games (most notably COTA for me) amazingly great, because every drawing was done with care, with such personality, and it looked great! It was almost as if the designers (at the time, Bengus and Akiman) were emulating what they saw in the pages…and they were, the work on some of the sprites held homage to some of the great Marvel artists that created the characters! (JRJ’s Blackheart and JimLee’s Xmen, for example) I’m not going to delve deeper into this here, because I could talk for hours. But really, the art is important. I do wish more would appreciate the work behind sprite based gaming.
With that said, I’m not anti 3d models. I just expect it to look good. TVC looks good, PJ looked good, Tech Romancer looked good. If the standard of quality could be TVC level, I’m fine. That was a solid project.
Also, whats with this 2.5 term? Thats completely impossible. These games are 3d, just with a camera view fixed to pan…I think half a dimension would kill us all, lol. (I get it, its just shorthand- I think its just a funny term)
Long live good art, folks.
the game is already in development so your love for 2d or 3d whatever is largely irrelevant lol
speaking to nobody in particular
And what about the legion of comic games that are 3D modeled?
3D models are just as artistic, a different art, but just as artistic.
Nah.
They’re not anywhere near as artistic.
They are not drawings/paintings.
They are renderings.
One might as well call a well-equipped PC rig artistic.
just out of curiosity how do you assign a quantitative measurement to a characteristic like ‘artistic’
lol wtf
You do realize all renders are adaptations of some art piece, right? It’s not some number cruncher making things up, there are artists and art directors. My point is 3D models aren’t some soulless facet of gaming. They are art as well.
Funny I’m the one who gets this question rather than the people who’ve flat out done just that and have been doing that over the case of 3D models vs sprites for pages now. So don’t feel bad when I completely ignore your question. It’s a principle thing.
