glorious nippon ?(???)
TVC with marvel characters?
But Japan is superior! amirite?
capcom market researcher listening in with directional microphone YES, YES, THIS WILL BE THE BEST GAME EVER
if a korean animator can draw 60 frames per day for the simpson’s i don’t think it would be that hard or take too long to make it in 2D. however, if you’re going to continue making 2D games in an archaic pixel method, than yes, it would take forever and be more expensive. many games from small studios are in 2D using rastered vector graphics because it’s more affordable than going the highly detailed 3D route. many of you are just echoing what other uninformed srk members have been wrongly stating for years now. there are many games like ‘Braid’, ‘Wario Land: Shake It’, ‘Muramasa’, ‘A Boy And His Blob’, etc… that are made quicker and are more inexpensive than 3D. unless you are going to have hundreds of moves per character, 2D can be done quicker and cheaper if you go about it the right way.
that said, i’m not saying the game would be better with 2D graphics. i’m just saying it’s easily doable. 3D or 2D doesn’t matter to me or most people, it just matters if it looks good.
I really like this post. It’s my favorite in the thread so far.
fighting games require a lot better animation than listed in those games
I’m guessing they’ll attempt to use as many TvC and SF4 models as they can to account for the Capcom roster. This makes me wonder which iterations of which characters we’ll see. This will be a day 1 purchase.
I just hope they don’t add in crazy but useless play mechanics or alter the play style too much. There’s something about moving from 2d to 2.5d that I don’t think flows well. All I can see in my head is a 2.5d Magneto doing the ROM infinite, and it looks awkward. I hope they prove me wrong. I also hope this doesn’t seem as cartoonish as SF4.
I didn’t mean to imply that, people were talking about the possibility of an arcade release and I said I didn’t care because the Japanese won’t play it and we’re going to be using our home systems so it doesn’t matter. I know America is top at Marvel, I’m not THAT stupid =P
Warioland: Shake it has some of the best animation in any 2D game ever made.
This entire post confuses me, and makes me want to punch a woman.
Regardless, I dunno if it’s been posted, but here’s the original MvC3 post from PlanetXbox360.

If they include Daredevil and the Punisher I’ll probably die from a happiness overload.
Yes it does. I was thoroughly impressed with what was capable of being done in that game as well as Muramasa. It shows that it can still be done and done well.
Though it does get annoying when you go into a thread and say how great 2D is and how better it is and how much of it is your opinion it is.
I’m all for kick ass and Dan loltier
daredevil, Thor, ghost rider, blade, and why not include Havoc?
Also I can see them reusing the tvc cast on the capcom side except replace volnutt with X and I’d be so happy
I’m sorry that I don’t like something just because everyone else does. I just find it really fucking funny that its perfectly ok to shit on anime openly as a whole or anything anime inspired–but the minute someone says anything that is the opposite of " Everything Capcom does is flawless" people get their dicks in a knot. Someone states an opinion about a hand-drawn game and people act as if because its 2000-fucking 10 that nothing should ever be hand-drawn again on principle. There are ways of actually getting it done and done well–Capcom chooses not to. I don’t understand why people who might look at both the competitive and visual aspects of the game with the same intent and passion are looked upon as the evil one because he doesn’t fucking like EVERYTHING. I just simply stated that it would’ve been nice if the game was hand-drawn.
Preference is preference I like 2-d sprites that’s what I fucking prefer–we agree to disagree. Done.
OMFG CABLE’s STILL IN… more from me soon.
Reality though, is that with drawn sprites we would get like 12 characters, maximum. Remember that MvC2 reuses a lot of graphics, it’s basically sprites collected over years and years. And that’s low res sprites. Starting from scratch would be though, look at SNK.
I don’t know about you, but a game with 6 caps and 6 marvels doesn’t really get me that hype. You know half of those caps would be the boring “must haves” too.
The only option to get out a game with a cast even near the size of MvC2, or even at least around 30, in normal development time would be 3D. imo.
And even if they do the 2D route, it’d be hand drawn on top of 3D animated reference like KOF and BB, to save time on animation.
Edit: KOF XII had about 20 chars, but to get that many they had to skip out on animations and moves.
Edit2: I guess the real problem is that we have been spoiled. By reusing sprites we’ve been given games with enormous casts (mvc, cvs, kof…), and as such we are expecting this from new games. But that kind of roster is only possible after several games in the same graphical style.
Mvc3 with Frown engine?
I’d at least prefer that instead but people want their games right now, despite the fact that you look at games with your eyes, lol. I don’t know–I just liked when games looked good and played well.
