I’ve been ignoring this thread from day one, since my hopes(and many others I would imagine) have been shattered one to many times with regards to this matter. However, if this does prove to be true it will inject more life into the community. Not only will you have SSFIV but another game that can revive the genre even more.
It’s pretty obvious the game won’t be 2D sprite based.Capcom has said all of their games from now on are gonna be 3D.

I think this is the first time I’ve truly been excited over an MvC3 rumor before. Even the very original MvC3 image ‘leaks’ back from madman cafe back in early 2000’s didn’t get me this excited. Man, I can’t wait till Monday either way. :lovin:
As long as Ono isn’t anywhere near the game (which I doubt in the first place, but still) hopefully it should be a really fun game.
Yeah the only scrubby groove could be a SF IV groove.

Engine != art style.
SFIV’s graphics have to do with Ikeno’s art direction, blame him not the engine.
where did i say it had to do with the engine? it’s not just ikeno’s art style being poorly translated into 3D. they pumped steroids into everyone and the art barely even resembles ikeno’s. they look like SOTA toys animated on screen.
btw, the art director for the game is not ikeno, he’s just the character designer. toshiyuki kamei is responsible for this atrocity.
I feel sorry for him actually , cuz he’s gonna feel the brunt of the complaints , & they will come , so his ass better be ready to put up with it.
But then again “he” was the one who decided it be 3D , so he cant get mad.

I would be happy with 3D as long as they eliminate that zooming.
But yeah, I wish it would just be 2.5D or something.

This would not bother me at all. If there are less than 50 characters I will be pretty pissed. Having a huge range of options for casuals is one of the reasons I like the game so much. I will also be disappointed if there are any characters that don’t return.
I for one would prefer MvC2 style graphics but with HD sprites (3d background, 2d characters).
The number one thing I’m going to be pissed about is bursting. I hate that mechanic, and I know they are going to include it.

seriously… we havent even seen it yet, we dont know where they are going with it and for all we know it wont even be mvc3. chill out and wait people… i love mvc2 just as much as the next and i am not a huge fan of sf4 (much less tvc) but if it has marvel characters i’ll play it…

I know for sure we ain’t getting 100 characters, haha. Ideally, like someone said above, this won’t even be Marvel 3. I’ve always believed that since Capcom raised the bar so high with Marvel 2 and it’s been so long since Marvel 2 that they can’t just add in 15 characters, rebalance the game, and call it a day. Since they need to make new models and all that other jazz they can’t put all 50+ characters and more into the next Marvel right away…
I hope they start off with a few smaller Vs. titles like Xmen vs Street Fighter and work their way up. Then when they have like 2 or 3 versus games under their belts, take all the models from those games and reuse them for Marvel 3. Add in like 20 brand new characters and all the characters from Marvel 2 that didn’t make it in yet and bam, you’ve got a roster worthy of a Marvel 3. How it would play is another story altogether, though…
