MvC3: Claws and a Bra. X-23 Thread

What can she do against someone push-blocking her out constantly?

Assists cannot be pushed blocked, thus multi hitting assists are great with her.

Frame trap?

Or do what JWong does and wave dash your ass right back in there.

Also break up your combos early.

More or less on block u should really break up ur combos while calling out ur assist…

Mirage Step M can be cancelled to on reaction in pushblocked strings. If you do it properly, you’ll end up behind your opponent 100% of the time. If you wait until the pushblock is complete, you’ll end up in their face. There is possibility for mixups, but the face option is too slow to be reliably threatening.

she has hops and one of the fastest wave dashes in the game. End the thread.

I always end up in front, will experiment. Will try working Dormammu’s Black Hole assist into something also.

If you don’t wanna add anything of any worth then you know what you can do, right?

I freaking love hsienko dark pendulum assist. Multiple hits, can’t advancing guard… And it blocks the view. You can’t see where x-23 is when she advances. It’s a 50/50 if you space it correct. Hell, I don’t even know where shes gonna land and I don’t care.

On top of it you can vary the timing of the assist. Do something like ankle slicer + assist. You’re covering your gap in pressure so slicer > string is safe.

Telling you. Hsienko dark pendulum is godlike. Goes through everything an makes it safe for our girl.

Any flaws in this? It’s mad cheap and gives me wins I shouldn’t get.

I use the same assist. Try mixing it with M feint, as someone else mentioned. IIRC push block tends to put my X-23 outside of that assist actually hitting the opponent, but it can act as a horizontal barrier (durr :P) for your next approach (M Feint/Dash/Overhead) in most situations.

Hsienko assist sounds sexy…I can’t get use to her speed to add to my team though. I’m way too use to her Vampire Savior version. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hsienkos speed is made up by her whacky normals and decent zoning. I play keep away and do quite well. But I don’t use her at all. If morrigan and x-23 die I’m done. She gets wins just based on her zoning and her weird pendulum combos.

I’m not good with her at all. She has some interesting combos though b

While he wasn’t entirely polite about it, he gave you some of the best answers to push block. 10Stars is a veteran, so the answers seem obvious to him. I guess he’s probably wondering why you would make a thread title that asserts something you apparently know little about.

236L(charge) will have you stand right in front of them after advancing guard. A good trick is to use this and then immediately throw or do 236H (charge slightly ONLY if 236L hits). You can also cancel into lvl 3 and mash S till it triggers. The throw option only works if the 236L(charge) starts deep (occurs at about mid distance), other wise do 236H and you’re very likely to land the throw.

Pretty much this.

advanced guard is never a problem, it means you never got hits in the first place. i have trouble with certain assist like sent’s a assist. Although she’s a offensive monster she obviously needs to get in and her low hp really hurts her, it only takes one hit from a good player and it’s bye-bye x-23:(

another thing you can do is cancel her normals with qcb A B or C, then cancel with S and you get a lot of frame advantage, and time to wave dash back in there and go for a mixup

I usually do one of three things on reaction to a pushblock:

  1. B Feint, because of reasons stated before, usually you get back in their face at advantage, or behind them.

  2. I charge a neck slicer. Most of the cast really can?t compete against the slicer, and you can cancel into Weapon X Prime on reaction to supers and the like. That and the massive frame advantage is always a plus. People don?t abuse this move enough, I swear.

  3. This isn?t really a reaction to it, but if I KNOW they?re pushblocking me, I?ll hit them with 1-2 crouching A?s and do an instant air Down-C in order to punish their button presses, and usually I can get a counter hit into a full BnB with my team. If not, I?m relatively safe and I get pushed back into options #1 and #2.

So no, I don?t think it kills her at all. In the corner, I usually command grab in reaction to pushblocks as well, if they?re done early enough in a string of shorts (Which most competent players do) and they don?t jump back, it?s a free grab into a dead character for me. Just see your opponent is doing it, and react/predict accordingly and Laura will have a field day with them!

Amen to #2 ETR, but I’ve gotta be careful not to get predictable. I was playing casuals last week and getting blown up by Magneto Hyper Gravs, lol. I never thought about canceling into WXP though, that’s pretty smart.

Yeah, I’m buffering the move most of the time when I do it, as there are very few supers they can do on reaction to it. Magneto cannot beat Weapon X Prime with any move, save maybe Magnetic Shockwaves that are placed at the EXACT correct moment, but this depends on spacing, due to conflicting invinicibility with his and X-23’s super.

Ryu’s Shinku Hadoken, Dormammu’s Chaotic Flame, Akuma’s beam super, Taskmaster and Wesker’s counter supers, and most level 3’s will beat a charged neck slicer or Weapon X Prime so you need to take note of that and try some other options. You can actually beat all of those supers if you react to within 1-2 frames of the flash, which is damn near impossible.

In my opinion, X-23 easily has the top 3 sets of supers in this game. One with 1-19 frames of invincibility, one with 6-64 (I believe that’s the highest in the game?) and a level three which is an unblockable hit and can be comboed after? Not to mention DHC reset capabilities.

I spend 90% of my time in the lab with X, as she’s my “powerhouse” of sorts. I know stupid little stuff nobody show know about an MvC3 character I swear, haha. She’ll be in the low of the top tier when all things get moving, she’s got all the tools.
