Landing the OTG ankle slicer after an air throw… when are you going for it and when are you not? I’m always hesitant, sometime I know when its going to land and other times I know it won’t… then there are those hazy situations where I’m not sure!
**Long story short…AFAIK. you can only land it after an air forward throw. ** If you dont have an assist that will pop them up off the ground you must dash forward first then do charged ankle slice. You can cancel the dash early into charged ankle slice just as long as you move yourself forward first with the dash enough where the ankle slice will hit. If you have an OTG assist like Wesker low samurai edge you can just call Wesker after the dash then do whatever. No other type of regular throw from 23 will allow for ankle slice OTG AFAIK.
Hmm thanks. I think something about the height of the throw and/or being in the corner makes its easier as well, since the times I’ve landed it have always been without the dash. I’ll look more into it, especially if you have the right assist it can lead to WXP (and therefore DHC glitch… air throw into dead character? Madness.).
Yeah I’ve been messing around with her throw game a bit and I’m starting to realize it’s probably better to back throw people when they’re on the ground and air forward throw them when they’re in the air. Normally I wanted to use forward throws on the ground because they push people towards the corner but then I forgot people can roll after they get up from forward throws so you lose any momentum you got pushing them towards the corner when they roll forward. The difference with back throw is that you stay close enough to the oppponent where a few wave dashes will get you close to them. Plus there’s a way to time your dash so that you stay near the opponent no matter which way they roll and set them up for 50/50’s. Stuff that I’ll go into when I make the vid.
yea, i was never sure which way to throw to get the otg so i just stopped trying, instead i just got into the habit of calling my projectile assist and wavedash to them when they roll up since she can pull off ground cross ups that way.
Yeah I can confirm, forward air throw only. Dash after the air throw before you ankle slicer to make sure it lands.
I’ve been out of commission lately because of work, but sooner or later I’ll get around to that combo video I keep talking about. Anybody with interest in X-23 + Amaterasu or Tron will be happy to see it.
theres a combo in there, that you did notation that said standing S to jump MMHS L talon. which isnt possible. at least i dont think it is…
I play on ps3 too, and since you use the L1 and R1 for assists and R2 for dashes/supers most likely, have you ever considered changing L2 to special attack so you can just hold that and hit the face buttons for your combo? thats what i do, and even tho im not consistent with the MFCs yet, it makes it a ton easier for me.
Thanks guys! Yeah im gettin alot of mileage out of that air throw combo. She dashes so fast that she can pretty much grab you from anywhere! As far as i know, she’s not able to perform the same follow up after any assist that hits more that once. Hitstun deterioration hits hard after throws. You can combo after akuma’s assist as well with dash up charged Ankle slice + tatsu but it’s not reliable midscreen and you can only follow up with something like -> s.M, s.H xx 214 H Feint, j.M, j.H, j.2H xx L talon into H S etc because tatsu hits 3 times. Ryuga im sure you can use this tatsu combo after weasel shot. Im not sure though. After most hits, learning this portion -> s.H 214 xx H Feint, j.M, j.M, j.H - Land - instant j.M, j.M, j.H, j.S xx 236 L Talon, is the key to getting the most out of combos. It’s really easy and you can squeeze it in after practically anything. Just remember the sequence, and do it really fast! lol.
@KayEyeDee - Thanks for pointing that out man. I’ve fixed it up. I also fixed up the reset combo where i had j.H (supposed to be s.H) as my final hit cancelled into MFC lol. Ive also added a c.H MFC combo that i forgot to put down. That move is too good when abusing MFC! I tried changing L2 to S for a bit. I just dont like holding down other buttons when i play (which is why id probably never pick up zero lol). Im quite good with hitting 2 buttons for the cancel now. I pretty much MFC anything and everything! So yeah… It doesn’t really hold me back :). s.H MFC into dashing instant j.2H is amazing :P!
LOL yeah I wish I could still do MFC consistently without holding S but like in tournament when I tried to do it by pressing down buttons each time I would drop it at like the time i totally needed to kill a character and stuff. The S hold it working out for me better but if you can do it raw that’s cool shit too.
After watching Tatsu’s play c.H is definitely an under used poke from her and definitely her longest ranged low profile poke for stuffing normals and what not. He didn’t really do too much anti advanced guard stuff but he didn’t really need to cuz he would just do basic shit like go to land for a throw and then press c.H to S to launch people after mixing them up with wave dash on wake up. It’s pretty much a 50/50 with the right timing if he hits the opponent and if he doesn’t they’ll just block and push block him away and then he would just try to get in again. MFCing the c.H could definitely have some useful applications as some characters can completely low poke under the s.H like Wolverine.
BTW I’m also planning on using the same team because I feel Akuma in the back can really take it to Phoenix and most of the people in my local scene are using her any way.
how can i do the MFC in a combo. using the hold S method.?? i need method and how the input should be.?
i dont know if im doing it wrong or what.
my training is: i hold S, s.H, QCB+L, s.H, QCB+L,s.H, QCB+L… etc on standing C.America i can go up to 6 reps of s.H.
i wonder how i can LMH, QCB L, H, QCB L, H, QCB L, H, QCB H,… then continue.
another question is it worth it to learn ?? practicality compared to damage output???
cause my bnb is damaging as it is (i think around 6m):
LMH, QCB+H, j.MMH, j.MMH, QCF+L, MHS, sj.MMH, QCF+L. OTG depends if i have partner i would use him and charge QCF+L fully cancel into “LETS ENDS THIS” Hyper. then glitch it using DHC.
@ Diana_prince: You should check out my thread. There’s a whole bunch of combos and a few MFC combos i put in there along with tips and damages. It’s very practical and you should definately learn a comfortable variation of an MFC combo so that when your pressuring your opponent with MFC cancels and you manage to land a hit, you can follow it up with big damage. You can also typically do about 4 reps of MFC’d :h:s, and go straight into that bnb you posted. On the 4th rep, just cancel it into :qcb::h: and go from there. The damage you can get out of MFC cancels are pretty respectable. And they build a good deal of meter.
Thanks Burn, ok so i can qcb+L+S to MFC. omg im so addicted to it now.
because i have x23 on point i never really used her in X-factor mode.
so i tried in training X-factor lvl2 and lvl3 X23 kills in 1 combo.
LMHS, sj, MMH, QCF+L, QCF+M full, LMHS, MMH, QCF+L, QCF+M full. all characters die at this point except for Hulk and Thor (you need hyper QCF+AT+AT for the kill)
super easy. omg. now im considering not using her on point that x-factor is so tempting.
EDIT: ok you dont even need to hyper at lvl3 vs hulk. just stand HS at the end he will die. lol
Hey, you. Figures that us Cammy players would also pick up X-23 =P.
For X-factor relaunch combos, you actually get more damage doing LESS hits in the combo, due to scaling.
So in lvl2 xfactor:
:s:, sj., :h::qcf:+:l:, :qcf:+:m: (charged), repeat until death,
will work on any character. Thanks to the big hitboxes on jump :h:, and :qcf:+:l:, you can do the air combos extremely early in the jump, letting you relaunch until 100%, all before hitstun scaling kicks in.
This should also help consistency, because you don’t have to remember to time combos differently in x-factor (she moves soooo fast in lvl3).
The same concept actually applies to normal relaunches, if you happen to to have a fast OTG assist, like Deadpool or Wesker. For example, Tatsu’s BnB is as follows:
Thanks to DevilJin’s vids and his showcasing of Mirage Feint Cancels, it’s made it a lot easier to mount an offence as well as poke with X-23. Still need to use more Mirage Feint L and M to get in people’s faces more and combine it with assists. One thing I do love is thanks to Jam Session, I can DHC glitch with Weapon X Prime after a front air throw anywhere on the screen using dash, assist and Ankle Slice. Just wish I could stop getting hit so much in this game lol.
Placed 7th at Hadocon with my X-23/Hulk/Ammy. Sent to losers by Chrisis (sick point Viper) and then severed by Jitters (perhaps the best Wolverine I’ve went against that… didn’t annoy me for once, but had me mindfucked with frame traps.) Those two placed somewhere between 6th and 3rd, so I only got taken down by names. Also went against my long time friend, Hiro in losers who I won against. Won a few casuals against Honzo, Ram and F.champ, too.
I was only on stream against Jitters. I only saw one other X-23 user at that tournament lol. Looked back at the video and man… second match was bad against his wolverine because he had me exactly where I shouldn’t have been - not pressing buttons and too worried to even move because of his assist. It’s cool, though. Losing in this game (especially like this/not online) is learning and I always want to know why I lost.
