MvC3: Claws and a Bra. X-23 Thread

ROFL i got wrecked by phoenix keepaway last night at WNF…wish i had seen this (though it probably wouldn’t have mattered)
still nice to know about.

wow, i like that alot. hmmmm…

good to know that x23 counters dark phoenix transformation. I tried using WXP as well to counter it. It goes through the phoenix burst, but phoenix can block it on the first frame of transformation. so the level 3 is the only one that works, unless the enemy is retarded and doesn’t block. Plus, WPX doesn’t kill dark phoenix without DHC or xfactor anyway.

Also, you can XFC into dirtnap if your doing another super already when she starts transforming, and if your controlling another character other then x23 when phoenix transforms, you can DHC into dirtnap and itl still work.

The trick is to not do dirtnap too early since the invincibility on it lasts a very short time, but you have to have at least input the command for it before the screen zooms in on phoenix.

I guess if your playing against a phoenix with x23 on your team, stockpiling meter to DHC into the dirtnap counter might be a viable strategy, if you cant find a way to kill phoenix before she gets 5 bars. Though the best way to deal with phoenix is STILL to just kill her before she gets 5 bars.

What about calling ur assist then :qcf::atk: according to where u are, more or less the opponent will want to do the same so try something unblock able that we can start a combo from… The air dash stuff is kind of noobish they know ur going to use :d::h: after so the will call an assist or just space u to punish.
We need a legit way to build up momentum…

Can someone help me with mission… I think it’s 8 or 9? Where you do a mirage and do j.m j.m j.h j.m j.m j.h. I can’t seem to get all of the hits in. Is it just that hard or is it possible to get more height from mirage or something?

I appreciate the help. Thanx in advanced.

Im workin on missions.

Is Weapon X Prime her best way to get in on opponents and spammers? That hyper seems to go through every projectile, is there any way for her to combo afterwards?

with the combo what you should basically doing is LMH H fient j.MMH (land) j.MMH (land) j.MMH
if you do an instant j.M after you land it should hit so you can follow with a combo

Weapon X goes through everything after its startup till it hits or gets blocked. best way to go through spammers is either M/H talon dives or an assist covering you while you wavedash in.

as for comboing of it, I havent tried it but I’m assuming you can XF before on in between the last 2 slashes in some way to combo afterwards. if thats not possible then DHCing is your only comboing option.

Also remember to always watch when you DHC from x23’s Weapon X Prime because the slash crosses over so you can easily mess up your Hyper inputs. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks e.blaze for the mission tip. I was trying to sqeeze jm jm jh jm jm jh in the single mirage feint. Now I have her missions complete.

WXP is invincible from frame 6 to 64 so there are some invincibility frames within it’s startup til she pretty much reaches the opposite side of the screen. I use this to stop Deadpool and Sentinel spammers.

She can combo WXP off of a fully charged neck or ankle slice.

There is a very good way to combo from Weapon X Prime, actually. DHC to any passive hyper (Dante’s Devil Trigger, Zero’s Sougenmu, Phoenix’s Healing Field, etc.), and do whatever combo you want. It resets damage and hitstun scaling and puts the opponent in some kind of free juggle state, so any combo that would work on a jumping training dummy should work.

I’m still a little confused about the logistics of her mirage feint cancels.

Doing them, or how to apply them effectively?

To do it, just try holding :s:, then do :a::b::c::qcb:+:a:, :c: – don’t let go of S the whole time, and cancel into the :qcb:+:a: as fast as you can, immediately after the first :c: connects.

As for its application, it’s difficult to do in a match. While it’s possible to do repeated cancels, I usually only try one (my execution needs work though – if you can easily do more, go for it). 10Stars was right in our conversation above that the :qcb:+:c: loops to extend ground combos are easier to get into muscle memory, and do not require you to be holding down a button.

The way I do it I press ‘S’ at the same time I do the input for a feint. So like 236H+S

Also how do I put the Arrows and Button images in my posts?

I haven’t been keeping up with the thread lately, but I want to add something in case it hasn’t been mentioned yet. Apologies in advance if it’s old news, but it’s worth reminding people anyway.

I’ve had incredible success with X-23 using my Tron Gustaff Fire assist. It’s great when you’re in close and you break out of a block string with advancing guard, and it’s generally pretty safe to throw out at random too (be careful for Haggar assists or beam/invincibility supers, though).

However, the best use I’ve found for it is against characters that play a keepaway game. Normal jump, and :qcf::h: for the :uf:-angled talon strike. This gives you so much height it’s almost like a super jump, but the trick is that it’s not, so as soon as the talon strike is done you can call an assist. So, at this point call Tron assist (or any assist of your choosing really) and then :d:+:h: to either hit-confirm the assist or continue a block string. This wreaks absolute havoc on characters like Sentinel, Chris and Arthur who are content standing on the the opposite side of the screen and throwing projectiles at you, and the :qcf::h: talon strike is so fast that it’s very useful as an escape from spits or projectiles. If your opponent is not in the corner, you can even achieve crossups this way and it really sucks for your opponent because they can’t see themselves while you’re up in the air if they remain on the ground.

If your opponent does block it all, you must be careful since you have no assist for a few seconds to cover yourself. You will always want to mirage feint out of your block string because X-23 is very susceptible to throws if the opponent does not advancing guard. Another danger is that your opponent dashes or jumps out of the way. Usually my Tron assist covers me, but you should still be ready to block in case they are ready to punish. Finally, watch for teleporting characters… a smart-ass Dante will just teleport out of the way while you are mid talon strike, and if they time it right they can get the upper hand in air.

Happy hunting!

What is X-23’s OTG move?

Ankle slice full charged (qcf+ hold M). it can be cancel into super

Okay, so it has to be fully charged.

has anyone else noticed that you can TK the light talon attack to do it rather low?

also jw if its an overhead

It’s not an overhead, its a mid block. And yes, the talon dive is a useful rushdown tool once you’re in since it’ll stuff a lot of normals.
