I’m trying to transition from SF4 to MvC3, and I’m finding the anti-air very difficult in this game. What is the best punish for a jump-in/air teleport(Wesker and Dante)? Surely just a Crescent Scythe that does only around 120K dmg isn’t be the best option? I’ve also tried her launcher, but it sometimes trades or gets beat out at certain distances due to its limited range.
^ use an assist maybe? It should either hit them or force them to block while you can cross up or do whatever.
I’m having trouble with hops combos. What’s the basic bnb version consist of and any tips of landing it?
weskers counter super beats it clean, otherwise just run and do random supers is the only way Ive been beat out of it.
What is the best way to dirt nap a character that is coming in. Is it just tap s as they come in, or jump and s. I usually just jump and s and it works most of the time, but not everytime.
i usually do M dive towards them so that if theyre throwing random light attacks it doesnt get beat.
Okay, wtf is up with the hyper guide? I mentioned earlier that you can cancel charged feints…but it says if you hold left or right, the feint image still appears…this is mis typed or something, because i cant get anything of the sort to occur…anybody know?
Haha yup I was like whoooa how did I do that. But If it only works on normal jump like @AlphaKami mentioned, that could be my problem. I must have been SJ’n when I was trying to replicate it.
SideNote: Deadpool has a wall jump too
Before MvC3 was released, I wanted to main X-23, and now that I’ve had time to play her, I’m having a tough time getting her BnBs down. I’m having trouble doing ABC xx H Mirage xx B xx S xx Land etc. I can’t seem to get the Mirage Feint to come out fast enough for me to land the Medium.
there’s actually supposed to be a slight delay on your Feint, BS. You can only attack on the feint when it’s on the way down
Are her loops combos really essential for having a good X-23? Like, could I use other good combos until I actually learn her loops, or are her loops the first thing I should be learning, which is what I’m trying now.
honestly, imo, its more important to learn how to get in with 23, do her B&Bs, and stick to the opponent with mixups…loops are HANDY, and eventually they will be law, but seriously, first things first, learn how to get in and stay there.
My question is how good are her command hops in online or competitive play? Are they useful, or just a gimmick? Because I kind of like her style, but I don’t usually enjoy just straight, spastic rushdown (a la Wolverine), but rather prefer an offense centered around mix-ups, spacing, and especially mind-fuckery. If her offense can be based around tricky stuff like that and be competitive, I may give some serious effort to learning her. If it’s more of a gimmick and she relies primarily on hugging her opponent’s face and mashing out combos, probably I’ll pass.
Since you can do it while theyre in blockstun or combo it from hit stun, I use dantes aa assist or ironmans unibeam while theyre coming in and nab them while theyre being hit by those, on block or hit.
Yeah, me too. Plus it hits twice so it stays out there for a while so you can decide whether to go into a feint combo, or strait into an air combo.
Some other things that work for me are using her medium talon dive to approach. If they push you back dash forward and you’lll be right on them. Don’t worry about being countered with a hyper because x23 has the best hyper counters herself. The wall jump is fast an unexpected, and you can press downC to cut the arch and bring you down safely.
About the hops. I use them when the other person is getting up, or after one hit so I don’t have to deal with pushback. Use Light hop for doing a throw, mid hop for an assist mixup (or follow it with H,S for a ranged followup), or heavy hop for an overhead. Mix those with a command throw for mixup heaven.
What’s the best way to start an offense with X-23? I feel like doing random Mirage Feints to get in is a bad way to start.
I usually wave dash in and cover my a$$ with assist’s so I’m not hit while doing it. Then I go for either a c.L or a quick M Feint into a c.L or s.L. Also it’s very dependent on what your opponent is doing at the time. Of course I don’t believe I have to say keep the pressure on once your in.
Does anyone have have any tips for landing her otg assist? Im trying to do a relaunch combo with chun in the corner. Usually when I call in the assist it misses, like I did it too late. I have hit so I know that its possible. When is the best time to press S in the air combo? When im over the character, under or in the middle, to make chun land quicker?
EDIT: i misread what you typed.
if you need to finish with S, take the air combo slow, so you land as close to the time the opponent does as possible, for a larger OTG time frame window.
then just mash the assist.
peasy.
Found a setup to prevent Phoenix from going Dark. Please note that this is VERY situational and requires some tight timing.
