Despite spending two meters, you need no meter to start the combo and end up with a bit extra. There aren’t many characters who have bnbs that can be done from anywhere on screen, do over 900k and actually gain some meter. Her level 3 hyper is a grab, and she can combo off her grabs in XF. I think that puts her into the grappler/heavyhitter category.
I’m not sure about that. Being a decent anchor in a pinch is a bit different than being an actual anchor. I wouldn’t think anyone would actually want to run Wolverine in the third spot. His assists aren’t good and he won’t be in a position to use the DHC trick. Basically, he’d be doing nothing until activating x-factor.
Yeah, she needs no meter to do her full BnB, unless that you want to end it with the King Servbot, :h:xxLunch Rush, which as stated before she would gain all of that meter on that single bnb and end her combos in many ways as the player wants with different results, obviously the effect will change if you are in X-Factor mode which in Tron’s case it’s scary. Also I agree on the subject of the BnB’s that can be done on anywhere on the screen, just a few have them. And regarding her grapple, people should use it more (Maybe I am facing bad Tron players that won’t use it and rely only on her assist) as it can lead to some devastating results and resets when properly placed.
Just my personal lists, trying to list some I haven’t seen yet as well…
All-round
Taskmaster
Captain America
Spiderman
Iron Man
Trish
Anchors
Akuma
Spencer
Super Skrull
Taskmaster
Assists
Tron (Gustaff Fire)
Haggar (Lariat)
Sentinel (Drones)
Doom (Missiles, Plasma Beam)
Hsien-ko (Senpu Bu w/ Gold Armor)
Heavy-hitters/Grappling
Super Skrull
Tron
Keepaway
MODOK
Chip
Storm
Dormammu
Akuma
Sentinel
There are some characters I just plain don’t know about and that we haven’t heard much of, like V. Joe. So I wouldn’t know were to put those…
If you don’t know a character you better learn him or get randomned out IRL…
The problem with that list is many characters can be in multiple if not all those categories, so I see where you were going but im confused.
And how is Morrigan not the best battery in the game? You dont even have her and Amaterasu listed and they have meter boost assists. You dont have Tron as a “heavy hitter” and Storm is better keepaway than she is rushdown. Ryu is “all around” but he has no air mobility, moderate damage and weak combo opportunity.
I’m just a little confused. Not being an asshole.
I think the current listing is based more on the character being on point than as an assist. Morrigan assist builds a ton of meter but on point she is more all around than battery. Tron needs to be on heavy hitters, agreed, and Storm’s keepaway is only effective against characters with no keepaway at all.
Ryu actually has OK air mobility with Tatsu, plus Air Tatsu L can lead to some pretty ambiguous crossups. His combos are basic but they have decent damage. I’d also say Ryu is good anchor, he’s average life and benefits from meter.
got kind of a top 5 for each here
BATTERIES:
Magneto (pimp smack 7xC combos anyone?)
Wesker (45-50% everytime the guy lays a hand on you… but has bad matchups)
Dr. Doom (Could battery well, I like Doom better as an anchor IMHO)
Chun-li
She-hulk (with the right assist, downright terrifying)
Wolverine (this guy gives me nightmares)
Ammeterasu (the ONE BUTTON DOG… all I do is press a whole lotta C’s and a powerstrip and my Rushdown is FREE on most people j\k j\k)
ANCHORS:
Akuma (Need more meter)
Spencer (High damage output… Low resource cost, whats not to love)
Taskmaster (could be a battery too due to his OMGWTFBBQ damage output)
Super-skrull (great, can be self sustaining due to high damage output)
Iron-Man (needs good execution but… ouch Tony Stark hurts)
Dante (aka the Swiss Army Sword)
Dr. Doom
Phoenix (arrgh, I hate meter hogs but you can’t deny when you have her on a team, she dominates the pace of the match entirely)
ASSISTS
Tron (Gustav Fire) SSS+GOD PSYLOCKE TIER
Haggar (lariat)
Dr. Doom (take your pick)
Sentinel (Drones)
Dante (Jam Session or Weasel shot depending on your team)
TRUCKS (welcome to Die damage dealers)
Taskmaster (what can this guy not do… his easy not even BnB combos do 65%)
Sentinel (uhmmm… He’s a big fat robot)
Zero (takes meter to build meter but this guy is really really good on the right team)
Hulk
Keepaway\zoning\chip
Storm
MODOK
Dormammu (wow do I need a beam assist)
Tron is one of the best batteries in the game imo. As stated a couple posts ago, she builds any meter she will potentially use in her combos. Virtually every time I use her on point I have a lot of meter to play with and by the time my second character comes out they are fully stocked with five bars.
She also has one of the best assists in the game.
i don’t think zero is a good anchor. he only has 800k health and get’s a 150% damage boost
Wolverine is also a battery. Without a doubt. He doesn’t really need fatal claw or berserker slash to get in and do his damage. If hes on his own at the end of the round? Yes. But not preemptively.
l-m-h-s-m-m-h-drill claw-dive kick-h-s-m-m-h-s. Is a very damaging and simple bnb that builds 1 meter. Cake. You can also do l-m-m-l-h-s in there too to build more meter if you can pull it off. I usually don’t try for it because the timing is pretty tight at the end of a combo.
Few things. Tron is not a battery. Batteries get a lot of meter, but don’t necessarily have to spend it. Tron gains a lot of meter, but usually has to do 2 supers, so even if she builds those meters through her combo, that doesn’t make her a battery because you have not gained any meter. Good batteries are people like Zero, Magneto, Taskmaster, and Ammy.
Also, I don’t understand why people think taskmaster is a good anchor. I mean I guess he can chip, but a lot of his pressure is fairly unsafe without assists, and he really has no way of opening anyone up without an assist. Even with an assist he doesn’t open people up very well.
If you’re going to have a chip damage category, Dante and Chris should definitely be in there for Thunderbolt and Flamethrower alone, not to mention Million Stab xx Reverb Shock xx Fireworks and Gun Fire M.
That’s just it, though. His keep-away is solid, he can fill the screen with crap. Shield Skills comes out very fast and walks through most projectiles. :qcb::h: eats up most projectiles and beams. And if it’s a flow chart wolvie/wesk/sent/zero/etc., Aegis Counter > Legion Arrow :l:+:h: will wipe them out.
You can draw out AC’s with a seemingly futile/desperate block string, too.
I’m not claiming to be an expert, and my scrubbly tactics listed above reinforce that, but he’s very solid in the anchor slot.
That makes no sense. A characters role is chip damage? ummm okay?
Like half the damage Arthur, Chris and Dorm give is chip damage.
Ehh… I would put Phoenix in Keep Away. She has the best keep away in the game IMO
Agreed. It seems as if Chris was designed to chip people to death.
His flamethrower and machine gun are crazy in the chip department.
I don’t know if a chip category is necessary, but I would definitely have Chris in there as one of the best.
the Anchor discussion is a very weird one
A lot of ppl like to run Tron, Sent, Haggar in the third slot.
This is why i think Taskmaster as anchor can work, because i strongly believe he counters all 3 of those chars.
Zakky is right in saying that he wont be opening ppl up though, but against those 3, he has a huge advantage.
but really best Anchor ranking, i dunno, Dark Phoenix just owns in this category, and then i dunno.
ok i’m done editing for now, also, ya i forgot about tron
