thats perfect. i don’t play Akuma either but since i picked up Iron Fist, i needed a good assist like Akuma’s so i picked him up and wanted to learn stuff about him which is why i came to this section of the forums and here i see someone insulting my dude anyways i live in Cali as well and also only have Umvc3 for xbox. add me GT Luis1Luis1
This could easily be bogus, but I’m going to ask and see if anyone else has heard this before. I was talking to some friends on XBLA recently, and one of them gave me this little tidbit.
“Something that a lot of people don’t know, is that you can combo into the Raging Demon, if you hit the ground before they do.” Were about his words. I’m suspicious of this for obvious reasons, but he claimed to have found it in a video, so he might not be kidding. Can anyone verify this?
The only way I could see this working, if at all, is with the aid of Vajra or Sentinel Drones.
The actual way to do this, if at all, is through something like this:

Not that practical because of timing and risking a LVL3 if it it possible.
Interesting. I’d love to go and test it out, but I unfortunately don’t have access to my xbox at the time. That particular setup wouldn’t do me much good at any rate. i refuse to use Akuma without Wright or Shuma Gorath, and neither of them have Hypers that leave the opponent standing like that.
It’s not about hypers. Any form of attack, even if blocked, if done on the same frame as a grab(or maybe off by 1 frame) can combo. Example: I use Nemesis on point with Doom backing me up. I have been able to grab people while they were blocking the beam.
That isn’t quite what I was getting at. If someone is already blocking a multihit assist, obviously, you should be able to land a hit with an unblockable. What I think my friend was talking about was performing an actual combo, then performing the Raging Demon as part of that same combo.
you can combo off of deadpool’s otg assist into raging demon pretty easily if you want to test it out; non-mashed, it does 16 hits/ 535,000 damage. just get as close to the opponent as possible, then back dash + assist + raging demon input.
I have seen a friend of mine throwing the opponent DURING a combo.
I suppose that is a glitch, and I think I’ve seen a video about that a long time ago.
I’d love to have some footage of that Raging Demon combo…
It’d be interesting, but a lot of work and tricky timing(gotta be if it’s not widespread) for not that much of a payoff. Well-timed Akuma combos essentially do as much as a Raging Demon. It’d be like giving Spencer a LVL3, or like how obsolete Weapon X has been made by looping Fatal Claws.
Yes, you are right, but I definitely would like to know how to do that.
When I main a character, I like to know everything I can about him.
I have this vision in my head of a low to the ground TAC into akuma then a whiffed tatsu so hes hits the ground fast and then boom demon. but maybe it requires spencer assist
I just wish there was a way to get a full combo off raging demon, for a move thats so goddamn difficult to connect and pull off our payoff should be a lot more imo. They forgot this was marvel not SF 4, when every other lvl 3 doesn’t scale the people who can combo into theirs have the advantage.
I remember when trying stuff out in training mode if you leave the dummy on autojump you can never land a raging demon in front no matter how close or when you do it, but there is a spacing that works if you do it from behind. So actually I’m thinking it could be possible to have a guaranteed tech chase reset into raging demon by ending a combo with otg divekick, then jab resetting into teleport then demon. I really can’t see a way to combo into it though, it is a grab you gotta remember.
I’ve seen a tricky mixup in which after landing a dive kick that doesn’t ground bounce, do a teleport in front of them, then RD. Not sure if this is garunteed hit or not. Shown here. Starts at about 2:28

chris g man. this one is guaranteed cuz arthur had nothing to punish it with its start up invincibility frames and dead close.
In that instance yes, but if Akuma had a little more distance and Arthur had 3 meters, he would be able to LVL3 and outlast Demon.
the arthur player could had just held up during his tech to avoid raging demon; he probably thought that chris g wanted to dash in real quick with a cr.L.
You cant get away that close by jumping its faster than the jump frames start up
Defiantly true. Its a good trap, what ii like to do on a characters wake is if i have a character with a transformation, counter hyper or cinematic hyper is the second they get up i dhc right in to the raging demon even a wake up snap back can’t save them. Cheap but effective.
you can’t get away that close if you weren’t already holding up before the flash. lets say, for example, the arthur player was expecting it, all he would have to do is hold up as akuma forced him to ground tech and the raging demon will whiff; doesn’t matter how close they are to each other.
Yea I pretty much use RD predominantly for punishes, I rarely ever go for them in any other situation and never in a serious match.
