Well, I don’t see the Shulk/Wolverines/Weskers/Phoenixes who are winning dropping combos, so it looks like they took that execution 101 crash course.
I agree that Zero has better tools than some other characters(let’s face it, it’s not hard to have better tools than characters who don’t even have tools), but he still has to deal with it, and the simple fact that he has to block the projectiles at one point like all the other characters means you can put him in blockstun, run some mixup, and kill him, regardless of whether he has a lightsaber or a pocket knife. I still fail to see where the “Zero can’t get hit” comes from.
As for the japanese this, the japanese that, the only japanese player who did something didn’t win because of his gdlk execution. He won because he was abusing the cheapest shit. That is what this game is all about.
It definitely wont be bleak by next Evo I would agree. For this year though…we’re done. We haven’t put in the effort to do anything creative enough to beat what Tokido is bringing. Unless he gets randomed out early in the brackets by someone using a similar team I dont really see him losing. I’d love to be wrong, but I dont think I will be.
Tokido was always known for that. He has the American mindset but just happens to be Japanese.
Most other Japanese that will be playing this game will be on their Guilty Gear shit where you pretty much are going to be praying that they drop combos. It’ll happen.
I sat down and thought about it and although Wolvie/Sent/Phoenix is cheap as fuck…it’s realistically only going to be cheap until people find other shit that’s just as cheap or cheaper with less effort. The reason that team is the cheapest for now is because of the sheer lack of effort and insurances to win. Doesn’t mean another team that requires more work wont eventually trump that team and as good as Wolverine is I definitely feel there are characters that are still better that just need more time to flesh out. I only have Tokido’s team as top tier because in a realistic “what happens on stream” sense it has yet to lose.
Yeah I know. Arguably she doesn’t really need to deal with it. She just doesn’t jump when you jump and then she wave dashes across the screen and mixes you up as your falling, then runs some more. But yeah thats the general idea against trish, she still wins though.
Tokido supposedly has another secret. Watch it be a throwback to deviljin and he pulls out his Japanese Zero lol.
I really don’t think wolverine sent / phoenix is the best team in the game. Maybe the cheapest team with the least research against it at this point in time but I think eventually people will learn to fight it like anything else. Rufus was broke until people learned to fight him. Cable was god tier in MVC2 at the start. The list goes on. I’m not saying that team isn’t good. It’s VERY good, but realistically you just have to snap phoenix in and kill her and then deal with the remaining two like any other team. Like Renegade said, at that point if you’ve killed phoenix, and then they come in with best friend and you kill that character too, then it’s just wolverine, and honestly he’s not that scary without an assist behind him.
It’s not like Wolverine is the only character that gets to blow someone up for XF and 1 meter, I know for a fact that every character on my team can as well, and will still have time to do some shit on the incoming character to boot. It’s just easier with wolvie and all the lazy american players just hop on to whatever they see is effective instead of developing their own technology. Which really, IMO, is why Japan is generally better at games.
I know I’m late to the party on this, but shippuga loop does more damage than all versions of jump loop, is easier, and is consistent across the entire cast except 3 characters (who can all be compensated for in the exact same manner). Why people are still doing jump loops is beyond me (unless they have no assists left and want to go into lightning loop), but shippuga loop does require charge button switching so maybe it has something to do with that not wanting to learn execution thing.

Jump loops can be done off very ghetto confirms, like anti air J.C>Launch>J.2C>J.C>Jump loop, Buster>lightning>Jump loop and can be used even when scaling is kinda high like after a Jam Session>Buster>Lightning, so there’s that too.
I’ll admit I don’t really know how good shippuga loop is off ghetto confirms and the main reason I didn’t bother with it is charge button switching. Shit just doesn’t feel natural to me.
What is the optimum Shippuga loop anyway? I learned it before and it didn’t seem to do much more than the jump loop and it was way harder so I just said fuck it and stuck with the one that worked off more stuff, like nini heart said.
I like that team list, though if I were to nitpick I would change the viper one to something more like Viper/Dante/(superfriend)[not necessarily in that order].
To me, the ultimate Phoenix team could very well be Richard N’s Dante/Haggar/Phoenix. The Dante/Haggar partnership besides being extremely powerful is also one of the best Phoenix snap-in killers I have ever seen. Both Phoenix and non-Phoenix players alike will have to fear this team greatly.

i’m in debate with doom or task on who is A tier. I’m slowly leaning to Dr Doom right now (which could be out of bias due to being a former doom player for 10 years in mvc2).
