XF is XF. If that’s the case then you could argue that Dante isn’t S tier because he’s not as scary or crazy with the mix up in XF as Wesker. Despite that I still thikn he’s better than Wesker. XF is just random factor that anybody can take advantage of. Zero is a character that’s always played in the front any way and it’s obvious that XF3 Wesker can do crazy shenanigans and is extremely hard to lame out but you can’t expect XF3 Wesker to ride you to every victory. Even XF3 Wesker isn’t really reliable for killing 3 full health characters consistently. XF3 Wolverine arguably beats XF3 Wesker any way and XF3 Wolverine is not even something you would ideally put in the back.
Agreed. It’s fucked up when you’re not afraid of a character, even when they’re in XF3 and have Hyper Armor. Also, Anki Hou putting out bombs is just stupid.
CAPCOM. WE DON’T LIKE OR WANT SPECIAL MOVES THAT HAVE A DELAYED, HIGHLY SPECIFIC AREA OF EFFECT.
I don’t know about. Zero scares me. I think he should. His normals just seem like they plow through everything I do. How do you think lvl 3 Zero does for that matter? Not good for me I’ll tell you that…
i wish capcom gave zero that “get ready” move he had in x-4. That would have made a great assist.
Still waiting for Sigma. I’d love me some X…but that won’t happen.
Sigma with his Wolverine claws and laser scythe would be terrifying.
Just don’t let Ryu hit him with a hadouken, that’s an instant kill on Sigma apparently.
Last time i saw marn playing on stream his zero on point phoenix team got blown up by wolverines… How does zero beat wolverine and derpserker slash?
zero has a sword
Marn was trolling then and trying to tell everyone that he hates MvC3… so his performance shouldn’t be an indication of how good/bad Zero is. But many Zero players will argue that Wolverine’s air game is inferior to Zero’s and that Zero has an edge when he’s air dashing at Wolverine. But yeah the reality is that Wolverine’s extra health and extra damage is a difference between a dead Wolverine and a dead Zero.
Yeah Wolverine does good till he has to fight swords. Swords cut up dive kicks, berserker slash mix ups and charged buster shot takes care of the rest. Wolverine has no business landing clean hits on Zero unless he catches the Zero on a bad whiff.
Wolverine doesn’t have extra damage. It’s just easier to do than Zero’s. It’s not extra just because your little cousin can do his combos effectively. The only thing he really has over Zero is mashable c.L that goes under a bunch of random shit and more health. Which more health only matters if you dont consider the fact that they’re basically on even ground in damage output and Wolverine has to turn on XF early in the match to gain the damage that Zero can without XF.
If you compare Wolverine to other characters like Chun Li who have high execution for like worse damage than Wolverine, I understand. Comparing him to death touch characters with more broken normals than himself? Definitely another story.
did zero win the recent WNF or something?
Only Marn plays Zero in the west coast…
There’s no guard breaks in this game so what is stopping me from staying in the air all day?
People think Thor is the worst because they went into training mode once, saw his slow walking speed and his slow ass fierce projectile and gave up. If you actually put in work with him he’s like a fat, more muscly magneto. Also mighty strike M is like the best move in the game.
For as good of a character as Zero is, there are not a lot of players at the to p of competition succeeding with him.
Marn barely plays this game, and Ryry still didn’t have Day 1 combos down yet. Lot of untouched and untapped potential there.
Who goes well with Zero + Dante?
Doom, Akuma, Ammy, Sentinel, Magneto, possibly Iron Man… This is something I’ve been working to figure out for a while. Wesker gets an honorable mention too I guess just for unblockable setups and lvl 3 XF insurance.
so i found this combination in the lab. And it seems to have almost no cons. But im curious to see other peoples opinion on this team.
Taskmaster/y/Trish/b/Sentinel/a/.
im not saying this team is godlike or anything but i want to know your guys opinions on this combination.
They Dhc greatly, task gets peakabo, Trish gets verticle to cover more horizontal space, and both can play offensively when necessary. I think the only cons are no dhc glitch or mixups. I honestly cant think of anything else.
would love to hear some feedback on this and if i should change it up a bit.
I’ll be at evo with my Zero. I don’t exactly have a lot of travel experience but I’m no slouch either. I’m running Zero / Dorm / Dante, but honestly I feel like Dorm Dante is way more broke than anything Zero does. Impossible to get in on with flame carpet / jam session for the majority of the cast and for teleporters, Dorm gets a ton of damage off air throw. If you run into anything you’re taking 50% (not a big deal but when it’s done from the safety of full screen away it gets annoying) and in close, he’s got some of the dumbest mixups ever. Flame Carpet > Jam Session and then teleport into a 4 way mixup? Good luck with that one.
With Zero if I kill you with Rekkoha into stalking flare, you’re eating and unblockable into an Xfactor combo and lost your second character with nothing you could do.
Only problem I see with Zero and it’s a real, tangible problem that will always be there is his high execution. Even his higher level bread and butter is not easy to do 100% of the time and god help you if you consistently want to get the lightning loop. If you had a button you could press that would just do Zero’s best combo off any hit, he would undoubtedly be one of the top characters in the game, but I don’t think he’s solely S tier or anything either. Execution will always be a factor, as is low health. Akuma is theoretically the best character in SSF4 with Vortex option select BS basically meaning almost certain death off a knock down, but we don’t really see him dominating every tournament. Ken can land jab into ultra 2 and everyone was hype about that when SSF4 first came out but once again, do we ever see anyone doing that in tournament? Execution is always gonna be an issue, especially in tournaments where nerves and high pressure are a factor.
Zero is a good character, but he has a ton of problems. Him at S is a big stretch. A sounds correct.
First of all:
- Can have trouble getting in: He doesn’t have an invincible command dash or teleport and out of buster, he can’t really fight fireball wars. Level 1 buster is good for harassment, but Zero has to get in eventually, and against a team with solid zoning, he’s gonna bleed before really getting in there.
- Tron Haggar: Zero likes swinging his sword around like no one can stop him. But these guys can. Because of Zero’s low health, it’s fairly easy to convert one of these guys’ hits into death against him.
- Highest likelihood of dropped advanced combos: The main bread of his longer combos( J2C>JC> or JMMH> Jump Loop) is very character specific. If you don’t know the exact variation against the character you’re playing, there is a good chance your combo will be dropped. Add to that tournament nerves, laggy TVs and it comes off as no surprise that people stick to basic shit with Zero.
- Execution heavy to get good damage: Not really a problem but it still matters.
- Shittiest health in the game: While a lot of people may say that doesn’t matter or zero shouldn’t get hit unless you fuck up, they seem to be forgetting that this game is not one on one and assists will hit you out of your super high priority normals. Doesn’t help that Zero can be killed fairly easily from assists, throws, and what not. HP Threshold is pretty important in this game, because it determines the amount of non clean hits you need to die.
- Highly assist dependent: Needs assist to get in, needs assist to stay in, needs assist for left/right mix ups, needs assist extension for good damage. The same can be said for a lot of characters but I feel Zero specifically needs assists to do good damage in his regular bnbs.
Zero’s a good character and all, but strongest, nahh no way.
Dante/Haggar/Phoenix.
DevilJin, when you’re talking of Dante with Tron/Haggar being so strong, you think it’s generally the get off me defensive aspect, or the cover-up-holes + hit confirmability that you have in mind? I still havent seen Richard play with that team yet, but as a long time Tron fan, I’m certainly intrigued. Also, you were typing “Tron/Haggar,” do you think, in the context of “Dante is a beat with xxx,” that they are equally good? I don’t really want to go and learn Haggar, especially when I feel pretty strong and confirtable with Tron.
PS. As a message to everyone, it’s Hagg-AR, not Hagg-ER!!! Sound it out, people. This is grade-1 shit. God damn I let myself get annoyed by stupid shit lol And then there’s Magneto’s Rom combo that has nothing to do with the guy Rom, and nothing to do with mvC2’s Rom, aside from being a Magneto loop. /rant
