Hyper Armor… And Lasers…
Eh, soon we’ll have anti-top tier strats for just about everybody. We already got a video on how to punish random full-screen Okami Shuffle, so we’re working on Ammy, its only a matter of time before nobody is invincible.
I think Sentinel is still good. The easy damage output, the drones assist, the super/hyper armor, the level 3 X-Factor, holding his own in projectile wars, etc is still nothing to sneeze at. Although if it does make him appear less and less in streams and online, you won’t see me complaining too much.
It’s pretty pathetic seeing people in here to defend a patch like this. Just goes to show how butthurt most of these people were for not putting in the time to deal with Sentinel. If you did, you wouldn’t be trying to defend this, simple as that.
400k really has me questioning the people who green lit such a retarded patch. This is undoubtedly a PR thing, and nothing to do with game balance whatsoever.
Is this really what fighting games are coming to? Majority cries, and Capcom patches?
Yeah 400k nerf just screams of feeding stream monsters and online warriors. Not a real strategic balance. If it was 250k nerf I would have been fine. A 400k nerf is just disgusting and pretty much bending over to the kiddies. If he went down to 1.1 or 1.05 he’d still be in the same predicament of having to work harder being that one level 3 or DHC reset combo would bring him down to nothing. This balance makes it so people who dont know how to combo into super have a fighting chance.
Agreed. This shit is turning into gamefaqs 2.0
Okay I’ll make a serious post lol.
I actually do play Sent.
The patch actually did nothing. Sent, Phoenix, and LV3 XFactor are still going to random you out.
Sent is still retarded, but now he just dies to everything. Tron got more retarded (not sure why they buffed her, but thanks Capcom ). Phoenix is still the dumbest character in any game I’ve ever played. Wesker having high health for no reason makes no sense. Still no spectator mode. Level 3 XFactor makes losing the game turn into an advantage.
If anything lowering Sent’s damage by like 10% would be enough, maybe too much. That or 5% and lowering his health to 1,000,000 or something.
i guess you have never seen his c.M or frying pan or launcher or plasma storm
did you not see him take those two rockets to the head like a fucking boss in RE5
Is not much of a surprise Wonderswan, Ryu got trade SRK to U1 back in AE. Characters like my Ibuki are “too broken” so they had to nerf the damage and stun of her most important moves in AE. Cammy got her TKCS removed, which cause even more people to rage hard. Capcom should just let the game grow, develop, evolve, just like they did since SF2, and then see how we’re gonna patch things.
And if Capcom REALLY cares about the casual players more than their tournament players now, hope they nerf everybody that the scrubs complain about, everybody. Make Phoenix have 1 health point and not be able to use XF during Dark Phoenix (which has 0.5 health points), make Wesker’s only move his counter, and Magneto get’s stuck to the helicopter in the Daily Budge stage to too his new ability “Magnetic Madness”, suggested by most members in Unity. Nerf all you want Capcom, but remember than in about 1 or 2 months, all of those important scrubs are going to be playing COD on XBL crying about more stuff. To anyone STILL complaining about Sentinel, turn this on ZSS5dEeMX64]YouTube - Mulan - i’ll make a man out of you and sing this … Thanks d3v for that.
Still I can beat Sentinel pretty easy, but I care about the people who cant and tries everything. =P
And why are you defending Sentinel then?. You use it?..
I think it’s pathetic that people are coming on here to bitch and moan about something that’s only a couple of hours old when:
-When Sentinel was presented as overpowered, we were told it’s too early to tell
-Sentinel could have come out at 905k hp from the day of release
-Sentinel did not lose any of his tools
-Game balance is an ongoing process that should be encouraged
-Stating that the “game is too new” versus balancing patch is circular logic because it implies that the game can no longer be balanced afterwards, that future balancing attempts will fail and that waiting somehow enhances game balancing. By this same logic one should wait before casting a verdict on a patch that’s only an hour old.
-People are calling this a PR thing because they disagree with it, assuming that this decision was made entirely by a fanbase that doesn’t know better than you.
-People who are making fallacious arguments from circular logic are the ones complaining about this.
Sure is the most pained ass of all calling other people butt hurt in here.
Oh, I get it now. You are hearing the footsteps for the inevitable Phoenix nerf. I can’t wait to see the butthurt overload when that actually happens considering you are more anally frustrated than any actual Sentinel player.
Hugh Mad.
best way to word it
You care about the people who can’t fight effectively against Sentinel, the ones who try everything? I’ll give you a second to let the stupidity of that sentence reverberate in that skull of yours. The people you think you are being a staunch defender of are the people who have tried the complete opposite of everything and maintained a strategy of running head-long into Sentinel trying to mash out their training mode combos and then blame everyone but themselves when it proves to be (yet again) ineffective.
You also miss my point entirely. Too busy hoping to catch me defending my beloved Sentinel so you can call bias on me I suppose.
My gripe is with how Capcom decided they want to continue balancing their games.
sentinesl BEST move at high level was undoubtedly his crouching M. they could have just taken away its armor and it would have been fine and he would have been nerfed MORE than sufficiently enough, while not going completely off the richter.
400 k hp nerf is way too much. unless they made his hitbox smaller as well, which they didnt.
he only has 100k hp more than ammy now… seriously?
dog cant be hit by anything, sent gets hit by EVERYTHING. there is no balance here. and he doesnt hit any harder than most of the cast, its just that his execution to do that high damage is nonexistent… balanced by his obvious weaknesses.
so now he still hits just as hard as everyone else but gets hit by everything. hes only going to be good for DHC combos into XF into death. his ability to play point got shot to shit.
-dime
The bulk of the cast didn’t have massive instant overhead combos on him and he didn’t get shut out by zoning (lol zoning Sagat).
It still is. Results from tournaments would indicate that he’s a decent character and a top 10 assist but that’s about it.
And people would have questioned what Capcom was smoking and not played him.
You’re right. Which BTW is how you actually balance something. If (big ‘if’) Sentinel is actually too good then you’d alter the properties of the moves that are problematic (fewer frames of armor, shorter active frames, smaller hitboxes, etc.).
When done properly and after enough information has been gathered then yes. But if it’s going to be handled like this then I think I’d rather keep my allegedly imbalanced product.
I think people are basing their thoughts on this being too soon because to my knowledge its never been done before with a fighting game outside of patching to fix bugs (which was kind of the case here though they missed more than a few).
Given the phenomenal amount of complaining about Sentinel in weeks 1-2 of this game its pretty hard to defend this as anything but an attempt to appease the casual crowd.
I actually don’t care that Sentinel got nerfed. I care how he got nerfed. As mentioned above there is a right way and a wrong way to go about toning down a character and as mentioned in one of my posts earlier anything that involves changing something by a measure as large as 1/3 was probably overkill.
And you people will still complain, If Sent “the sacred cow” got nerfed, people will complain… No matter if it was health, damage or taking away some moves…
And you decided to give more importance to my words than some other words… lol.
I think it’s also important to note that this is a different era in fighting games. Ten years ago, there was no real option to patch games, you just dealt the fuck with it and “let it grow”. Now, with all sorts of people playing fighting games, and a patch just a download away, things like this happen.
Well yeah it’s scary. But looking at the situation specifically I’m not going to lose sleep because sentinel got nerfed. This isn’t a “capcom nerfed gen because they don’t like how americans use him” situation.
