Above Jill by a good amount if only because of legs being consistently annoying.
Those last characters I posted I personally believe to all be garbage but the ability to win with gimmicks. That is why I love this Marvel game personally. At a casual level all these characters have ways to find victory.
Nah Jill will easily end up better than Chun Li.
Yah. Her assist is pretty decent and the frame advantage on those legs is ridiculous. They’re annoying to punish ><"
You guys keep saying “When the DHC Glitch is patched out” - has this been an official statement from Capcom yet? Or are you just assuming?
Chun Li has better kicks than Jill. Better hypers than Jill. She’s the better version of Jill. lol
It’s an assumption based on the fact that this is 2011 and Capcom patches everything. It may not get patched till whenever Super MVC3 comes out but it’s 2011 and you have to prepare for the eventual death of the glitch.
Chun Li having better kicks than Jill is kinda relative. Which kicks are you actually talking about? If you’re comparing ground normals Jill has better ground normals. She has a 5 frame low hitting rapid fire c.L that has probably twice the range of Chun Li’s short 4 frame c.L which doesn’t even hit low. If you’re talking about lightning legs spam then that’s just scrubby shit that anyone can get around with blocking and push blocking and waiting it out. If you have any kind of projectile assist you can just play lame and run her out a bit until she has to do something else other than lightning legs (considering that’s like the only thing she can do period) and then catch her on a whiffed legs and combo her. She’s not going to get a lot of damage on air legs unless she DHC 's into someone else any ways which takes away from the potency of the character a good bit.
You dont have to be in the air to be effective in this game. As long as you got a good wave dash and can air throw bad attempts to attack you from the air you’re pretty good to throw. 1 frame air throws fuck up a lot of aerial shit minus dive kicks. Jill’s wave dash is definitely better than Chun Li’s meh wave dash and constantly having to air dash in to close the gap on people with Chun Li doesn’t really get you in that well either. She can throw fireballs to give her a bit of a path but they have like zero durability and dissapear before she can get to the opponent any way.
Agreed, as more of a casual tourney player, I love this game for this similar reasons. I can see why the more serious tourney players have major problems with this game though.
Storm is upper middle atleast IMO. She is still Storm in some ways: one of the best screen controls in the game thanks to projectiles and hail storm, great bait and punish game full screen, a mobility that characters like Hsien-Ko (sorry Jiggs) would die for, and just the ability to be very versatile and change whenever you need to. She can still runaway good, but her meter-building is obviously nowhere was good in MVC2.
Amaterasu outclasses her IMO, and Magneto and Trish can be a type of hybrid that could be compared with Storm, but Storm still beats them in some categories. (Even do Mags is better, dunno about Trish though).
Oh you don’t have to apologize to me, I’m well aware Hsien Ko is trash in her current form. It’s just that I don’t give a fuck and play her anyway.
That and bitch for buffs. I’ve said it many times, but Hsien Ko would be pretty good if she could get around the screen better. It’s really the only thing that truly holds her down in the bottom tier.
I’d really just like to hear a statement from Capcom as to what they were thinking when they designed her. Specifically why they made her sooooooooooo damn slow and took away her ability to cancel Senpu-Bu.
Like I’ve said the only thing I can think of is that they wanted her to be a weak Captain Commando. The only guy I’ve seen regulary win tournaments with her (Airtola) has been using her mainly for the assist to cover up Hulk and Taskmaster. Which is definitely an effective strategy but of course it reduces her to being a shitty Captain Commando and not a real point character like people would have wanted out of a character that was so interesting to play as in her old games. People dont want to play a character just for their assist. They only did that in Marvel 2 because they had to but I guess they wanted to try it with a new character.
Even on point it’s like they wanted her to be another character of zoning. With sets of characters in the game that are strangely reliant on zoning like Chris, Arthur, Deadpool etc. I think they wanted to change her up on point as a character that could take care of other zoning characters and then build up the meter she needs to be gdly assist. The problem is with the lack of whiffing normals or specials building meter you can’t effectively play a zoning game and get rewarded for it. Your zoning only gets rewarded when you make contact with the opponent which forces a more offensive style of play when you’re better off zoning.
Not gonna like hearing this I am sure but I am betting the reason boils down to Armored Senpu Bu assist.
Sad thing, I would take MVC2 CapCom rather than MVC3 Hsien-Ko right now. I thought they would make her a type of trap character like Spiral with her Senpu-Bu (chain move right?) plus assists.
Wesker’s S only being -1 is actually a huge deal, DJ.
Go ahead. Please, please, PLEASE use level 1 Xfactor to guard cancel and punish it. Phoenix will send you a thank you card.
You can also do any of his chains willy nilly. It’s also great anti air. In XF, it’s also it’s own frame trap. S… S! Yes!
I can’t see how you guys still hate on Storm. Low tier my ass.
Well I have hope for her at least. AE buffed the shit outta my low tier main, so Supah MvC3 (or whatever) might do the same for my lil blueberry zombie.
It is a huge deal, thank you.
Storm is lacking a lot of things IMO though. It’s all opinion though. Maybe someone will open her up but for now she is only used as a DHC Glitch starter and hardly any more. Even Justin Wong was said to be considering dropping Storm because she was weaker character. Not to dick ride or anything but that says something. His Storm had pretty 1337 execution also.
If he teleports, as Zero, you can either press A (anti airs and hits him on the ground… yay stupid hit boxes) or jump back C. If he C teleports, you’ll air throw and if he ground teleports, you drop down on him with the sword.
And really, all that craziness can easily be avoided just by staying above gunshot range. IMO if you’re standing on the ground waiting for wesker to do something, you’re playing the fight wrong.
I have the feeling the only way she’ll get buffed is if they make her hyper armor mode not persist if she tags out.
Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t mind seeing her get buffs. I just don’t think she’ll be able to keep the armored assist if she does
Yawwwn…
Nobody is going to be using XF period early against a Phoenix team so that’s kind of a moot point. If Wesker is on a Phoenix team then it’s just typical dealing with Wesker with one protection assist. Try to land a hit and snap her in and kill her off so you just deal with Wesker and whoever else. Same shit, different day. If Wesker is on any team but a Phoenix team guard cancel deaths are happening on blocked S’s. Everybody has retarded frame traps in XF. Nothing special with Wesker. The most special aspects of XF3 Wesker are gun loop, teleports that you actually can’t react to and being faster in general making his command grab game scarier. Random S that can get low poked under by half the cast. If I’m going to play Wesker on point I’m not going to be using stuff that has a chance of putting me in danger over stuff that’s simpler and better.
