MvC3 Actual Balance/Potential Tiers Discussion

Hate to break it to you but this is a site that (suppose to at least) be for the competitive tournament scene. This forum IS for the minority as you would put it. Go to gamefaqs or capcom-unity and dance around in excitement over this nerf with your peers.

Again, SRK is not just the “minority of tourney players” (actually I’m a competitive player), then, if SRK is for people for tourneys, then why theres guides?, why theres a section for beginers to ask?. Then why a lot of people admitted they dont go to torneys, but play online?.

Dont deny the truth please…

did you ever think that the guides and beginners sections were for beginners that want to become tournament players? i started with sf4 as a total scrub, wanted to get better, stumbled into here and started to learn… then started to go to tournaments and be a pot monster haha.

And in this case “most people” would be wrong. And even if there is some validity to that claim good luck finding a consensus on which characters aren’t worth using.

So, what now? Suppose now in spite of the health nerf a Sentinel based team goes on to win 3 out of every 4 tournaments for the rest of the year and in addition to winning is on 6 out of every top 8 teams. What then? Another 400K health off? 50% damage nerf? Make his command grab heal opponents and give them a reacharound? Balancing as is kind of implied is a tricky process and to see this kind of reactionary change this early in a games life cycle is disturbing.

Here’s the question though: If someone makes that claim, because either A) He can’t be bothered to learn those characters, or B) Can’t be bothered to learn how to fight against whichever characters he’s complaining about… Why the fuck should anyone make changes to accommodate them in the first place when the solution already exists?

Because it is for people who want to become competitive and actually learn about the game. This isn’t a site for only the best players in the world but for the people who want to get better and learn the game. Not for people to vent ant bitch about certain things in the game they don’t like fighting/getting around AKA scrubs. Those people can be found on the sites I mentioned earlier. Those are the people who don’t care to work and want everything delivered to them in the form of a Capcom patch… again SCRUBS. A scrub is a state of mind and not a level of skill.

Nissan speaks the truth.

So they take away 400k health on Sentinel, out of a 38 character roster and everyone is up in arms because of it, mentioning that it was unnecessary. What happened to the “wait and see” mentality that so many people here decided to go to when people where telling them that he was a little overpowered? It took you all of a day to start bitching and moaning about a 400k health difference without looking into how this is going to apply in a tournament setting to your precious high level play. Kind of hypocritical don’t you think?

Eventually people will realize that it’s ok to pick other characters than Sentinel considering there’s 37 other chars you can chose if you can’t work around a 400k health deficit and things will be back to normal.

Sry if I took long, but the traffic is too high and I cannot do anything about it. This would be better if we talked in a Chat. XD

People sometimes are either A or B and when it’s all B you can’t complain. Anyway, you can learn the character and know his weakness but still theres stuff that make him unbalanced anyway and needed to be addresed but in the time people just “dealed with it” because there was no way that game could be fixed, only if it was re-released and the company wanted… Now theres an online patching system to deal with those “mistakes” or unbalanced stuff. They will find the most balanced spot and make it right.

You can complain?, yeah, you can, maybe capcom will notice that and re-fix that stuff.

If I went on the wrong side on this, I’m sorry XD…

**And I want people that throwed me some stuff to answer this…

If capcom presented sentinel with 900k of health and the same deadly stuff. Will You complain about it?**

EDIT:

At the end, we all gonna be friends again and this conversation will give a f**k

Yeah i’m honestly not seeing the big deal about the drop. I never touched Sentinel in the game but i think the patch will put things into perspective gameplay wise and how people play him. Just have to see. Who knew a drastic drop would get people crying about it so much. I say adjust to it and move on.

but when does it end? How many more knee-jerk nerfs are they gonna be in the future? When will scrubs learn to play the game instead of dropping the controller, running over to Capcom Unity, and demanding nerfs?

My complaint is more about the fact that the so called ‘balancing’ was released a mere month and it wasn’t broken to begin with. Only scrubs cried for Sentinel to be nerfed.
So if scrubs cry for character X, that will also be nerfed? It is more principle rather than specifics.

No I wouldn’t complain it were not changed. And if Sentinel was released with 900K health, the scrubs would STILL complain about his insane damage, especially in XF3. And there would also be other complaints. Folks are too used to other genres getting insta-patched to satisfy scrubby desires. We need to discourage this as a community because it only caters to people who haven’t put in any time to feel out the game.

MvC2 MSS wasn’t figured out in a month, you know?

Remarked that, and Fighting comunity are used to get Re-Releases of games with all the fixes.

I played MvC2 for 6 years and that team existed on that time, and I wanted always a Re-Release or a fix with changes on MSS specially. Never Happened, while SF got all the fixes and all balances and new stuff. Now in MvC got that with the patches and people complain.

I might be wrong but didn’t Mvc2 when it was released on the PS2 take out a ton of glitches.

It’s not his health that bothers me it’s that generally speaking any time you’re describing a change to a game in an increment as large a 1/3 of something it means that it was too big a change. Add to the fact that, and I cannot emphasize this enough, the game has only been out for one month, i.e. not enough time. Even at 1.3 mil health I don’t think Sentinel was the best character in the game, probably not even top 5.

Seriously, be happy that they’re updating this game with good intentions… just goes to show that nothing is final

Why the fuck should balancing be done for a group of people who don’t even play in an environment where shit like balance has an effect?

Shit is fucking retarded.

Agree so much…

With all respect, Im not cursing you. But actually all players make the game Pros, Casuals, Scrubs, Wannabe’s, Competitive players… Not just one group.

No u.

Balance exist at all levels, just differently. nothing wrong with making a game enjoyable for multiple groups.
