I agree with this. My only REAL complaint with X-factor is Dark Phoenix in XF3. As dumb as someone like Sent can be in XF3, XF3 Dark Phoenix makes the robot look so fucking tame by comparison. At the absolute minimum, there should be no health gain from X-factor, because it would make intuitive sense that the red health gain from X-factor gets cancelled out from Dark Phoenix naturally having her red health drained.
Random online Phoenixes? Sure. It would definitely change things at higher level play though, people would have to put a little more thought into their teams instead of just having two characters to feed Phoenix meter and sacrifice their souls to strengthen her X Factor. Would make running away from her a bit more viable as well.
Wolverine, and Taskmaster still wouldn’t be a top tier character in my eyes UNLESS they were given stupid good air dashes. I mean Thor has a decent tri dash game, but it didn’t help him enough because he is still has a slow attack speed-wise. However, he is better off than most of the lower tier characters because he is actually more mobile than most of them.
I second this. I always thought it didn’t make sense that her health decreases but X-Factor restores her red health regardless. I always thought they should cancel out, it seemed fair enough to me.
Asides from that and some minor level 3 XF gripes, I never really had a problem with her as a character. She’s a glass cannon and she plays the role well.
I’ve seen some people make some radical suggestions on how to re-balance Phoenix, but I think that kind of counters the idea behind her.
well, i dont really think that we should be discussing character changes as its mostly fruitless (capcom rarely listens about character changes) i think its better to just tier characters based on known variables… that being said, discussing nerfs/buffs is endlessly enjoyable, so i wanna play to … they changed the smilies… sigh.
completely random character changes,i wouldnt expect any character to have ALL the changes i suggest, just one or two here and there based on how capcom feels at the time.
nerfable:
wolvie divekick could use a height restriction or inability to use from superjump or nerfed angle. zerker slash could use a nerf or 2 as well, though im not really sure what the nerf should be… but of course if one gets nerfed, leave the other alone (goes without saying).
mags definitely needs L disruptor slowed down.
phoenix… dont really know but she could use at least a small nerf somewhere… if it had to be anything i would make her superjump homing shot last less time OR have less tracking ability… as it is now it is just as good as an assist, which is why phoenix doesnt need assists to be affective…she comes with one. i like her synergy with XF though and think that should stay. homing shots are what primarily piss me off about the character.
sentinel could use a nerf to drones… dont know how… but something. maybe only 2 drones? LOL
i think wesker is fine, well made character that shits on alot of other characters not because hes stupid good, but because other characters just dont bring the marvel cheese enough.
dante and tasky could use a bit less damage ESPECIALLY if the previous characters got nerfed in any way without compensating returns.
buffs:
ironman: assist can be called while doing crouch h, maybe crouch h gets angle changed to flat instead of downwards… meh. if the previous characters got alot of the nerfstick tony would be better by default, but this is assuming that no other characters get changed.
less push back and recovery on standing h, OR crouching m gets further slide range while shortening its hitbox so that its effective range stays the same… result from either? easier ability to hit launcher at range.
a much better idea overall is to get rid of current crouch h and repalce it with a further sliding M (ala mags current crouch h) and replace crouch m with the same move but no slide.
chun: fullscreen kikokens, give her back her A2 kikoken game… but in marvel. keep slow kikoken for advancing. keep a2 crack, fierce kikoken, for ranged battles.
OR make her kikokens all do the same exact thing as they do now except they hit twice (lower damage on hits) so she would be throwing 2 kikokens for every one thrown doubling her projectile durability.
^if any of that happened nerf her legs in general and speed in XF a bit to compensate. overall, a better character but not dominatingly so, still has many weaknesses.
cap: much faster cartwheel, NO invincibility. shield slash does more damage, and/or gives more hit and blockstun.
joe: no clue
arthur: a move to cover his head area besides that funky ass POS they gave him. somewhat slow, short ranged, not cancelable by anything dash.
general: universal airdash could be a good thing dependijng on how it were implemented, range, speed, how many directions are available, height at which airdash is activable, and normals available after airdash is completed are all things that would GREATLY lessen homogenity while allowing all characters to get up on that marvel movement… more or less. compare mags and vipers 8way dashes as an example on how they can be so different.

dhc glitch taken out if damage gets an overall nerf.
i dont expect any of these things to happen, cause capcom is random with the changes. but it would be cool if some of them made it through in some form or another.

How to Fix Haggar:
Increase Range of Piledrivers/Sky High Backdrop
Decrease start up of Piledrivers/Sky High Backdrop. If Haggar’s slow normals are not adequate, a grab wont deal full combo damage but it will still allow him some offense. That’s a fair trade for him if you ask me.
Start up invincibility on Haggar Press.
Opponent does not bounce out of end of Rapid Fire Fists. Ever.
Decrease start up slightly on Hoodlum Launcher M and H. Increase distance traveled of L and M to discourage reckless advance guard
Normal Air Throws give all his normals OTG property (just like counter hit headbutt against an in air opponent does)
Pipe Assist hits Overhead.

make her air dash faster.

Disagree on Chris’ jumping shotgun being sped up. if it was it’d be so safe that you can’t do anything about it.
Though instead how about we let Chris be able to do something after jumping pistol? Kinda lame he’s defenseless after a special normal on a superjump when many other characters can teleport or do other things.
Ryu’s DP/Morrigan’s Shadow Blade/Cap’s stars and Stripes assist, give them some invincibility but leave them out a bit to punish reckless use. Ditto with Tronne Flame assist.

her air fireball. just make her continue to fall as she chucks them. staying in the air all day makes it impossible for a lot of the cast to be able to even do anything about it.
j.Shotgun solves a lot of problems with people trying to rush you down and also opens up combo opportunities. Unfortunately the timing is strict in that if you don’t do it right the gun doesn’t come out at all. I just want the gun to come out fast enough so that it’s not a crapshoot every time I think about using it. Scoring a hit confirm off of a j.Shotgun is actually awesome with Chris.

Wesker could go for a SLIGHT Health nerf, im talking 100k-200k TOPS. As a character he is absolutely fine. He is a mix up master in a game of damage, so you really need to be able to mindfuck your opponent more often as his straight forward damage isn’t in the leagues of Dante, Tasky, or Viper. People will always bitch and moan about Wesker but then again people usually find a way to bitch about anything good in a fighting game.
Cap needs some sort of air mobility, I haven’t spent much time with the character so I can’t really comment further, I just know he is lacking dearly.
Arthur needs to be way more cheap. The way his character is built there is 0 excuse for him not to be the cheapest fucker in the game. Capcom tried to balance Arthur to be fair, they need to balance him to be extremely cheap.
Chris needs to have better startup on some of his projectiles, most notably ones like the flamethrower which can be used to keep people out once they get close.
Chun needs a SLIGHT damage buff.
Magneto needs his EMP disruptor nerfed, there is 0 reason for him to have one of the best projectiles in the game.
Honestly, I think Ammy is fine, that character was designed to make you want to punch a baby. Amazingly cheap and annoying but not OP.
Reduce Tasky’s chip slightly.
Phoenix needs a complete overhaul, and I have no idea how to start or what to do to change that bitch.
Dante could use a slight decrease on the ridiculous range on his normals.
Thor needs armor on a couple of his normals. Makes no sense to give every other heavy character armor to make up for how shit slow their normals are yet give Thor nothing.
Note if they didn’t fix anything I still think this game would be fine, these are just some things that popped up into my head if I were to try and re balance things a little bit.
i like te idea for 900 k lvl 3 grabs. it makes perfect sense.

crazy dime nerf: she cant block during the first half of her airdash or she cant block during the second half of her airdash. this might be too much to some, but … it would go a long way to making her more respectable. i think that because her dash is so slow and long ranged that she SHOULD be able to block during it… just not during the ENTIRE duration.
right now the fact that she can block during her airdash and ALSO have the biggest airthrow range in the game is a little too good of a synergy… fucking dog rules the airdash zone.

to everyone suggesting nerfs to the characters that are designed good for a game like marvel need to really go back to blaz blue or sf4 where they nerf characters that are too good. this is marvel, not sf4. characters are supposed to be cracked the fucked out. sso when characters like wolverine, wesker, dante, rape the shit out of shitty characters like hsien-ko or arthur it just means capcom fucked up on their part for designing arthur, cap, etc. in marvel, characters need to get buffed up to the standard of wesker, dante, etc. stop trying to make the game boring because ya’ll can’t block.
