I have to say one of the things I hate about the game is the fact hit boxes are stupid. I’ve been hit by the back side of Sent’s c.MK.
lol, my bad.
its not that bad on point either tho dude especially with an assist to back it up. its mid air straight across too, unlike dooms.
Same here. And “braindead”
He fought this verison of MODOK…

Basically that’s how MODOK should be played.
First post after judgement day. I like the new style I guess. Everybody’s posst looks like an article from the Washington Post now. LOL.
I think Doom’s beam assist is the best because he stays behind the point character which allows for more ambiguous mix up and gets Doom in trouble less. Not to mention the beam is a bit more durable. It makes Wesker’s teleports or X23’s mirage feints really confusing when they’re just porting about and then all of a sudden a beam flies out on the screen. Sometimes Doom ends up being called from so far back in the screen that you dont even see him on the screen. Just the beam blowing shit up.
Unibeam definitely is a bit easier to combo off of but as long as you end up near the opponent it’s not that hard to combo off Doom beam either.
that was actually quite impressive
Doesn’t Wesker’s crouching Light go right under Tron fire?
He used all those analyze cubes and didn’t even use the hyper
I always thought his tools were good on paper, but stuff like his weird ass movement and poor range were his biggest down falls
I will give him some time in.the lab
modok on that vid had amazing oki pressure O_o
Yeah, C.M does too, also his teleport gets behind Tron when spaced properly where she is vulnerable… He’s actually one of the better rush-down characters at dealing with that annoying assist
Isn’t that hyper a poor use of analyze cubes? Seems like he’d be better off spending them on buffing specials, especially bombs that screw up controls.
Generally what people dont know about Tron assist is that there’s a very small set of frames after the fire’s active frames end where you can hit her with anything. Like if she whiffs the fire from a distance Wesker can reaction throw out s.H and have it land on top of her short set of vulnerable frames where she can be hit by anything. X23 can do the same thing like wait for the whiff and then press s.H and start comboing her. That also technically allows Wesker to full screen punish the assist with Maximum Wesker. Although doing that on reaction without getting hit is something you’d have to really work on to not get hit instead and waste meter.
You can do it after blocking it also but the timing is much stricter and you generally have to have a quick 3 - 6 frame normal to have any chance of hitting her. This is because the assist leaves her at negative 6 on block before she becomes invincible and goes off screen. Of course you can always just cross up the assist where it’s always vulnerable.
Wesker’s c.L and c.M can hit the assist if it whiffs but you still have to wait for the fire to release first or you wont actually hit her and she’ll probably hit you. The only thing I’ve seen that you can literally just mash and go under the assist with is Wolverine’s c.L. Wolverine’s c.L completely beats Tron assist because his vulnerable hit box during c.L becomes smaller than the active hit box of the fire. Even if he’s as point blank range. Which is pretty retarded. If Dante is close enough that the fire whiffs but is in range for his c.L he can immediately whiff punish the fire with c.L also. Only characters with 3/4/5/6 frame start up normals can actually punish the fire on block though. 6 frame start up is the threshold to punish it on block it seems. Wolverine’s best punish to use s.L to punish a blocked Tron assist which is 4 frame start up and has crazy range for a light normal . X23’s s.L is 4 frame start up also which allows a solid punish. Her s.M is 5 frame start up and can punish also. Wolverine’s c.L can punish after the block but you have to one frame punish basically.
Believe Jill’s df.M her slide goes under the fire as well. Then again I don’t see many people using Jill
Yeah anybody with a slide type move can go under it after it whiffs. Though Jill has a 4 frame s.L and a 5 frame c.L so she can definitely block punish also.
Another interesting note is that Morrigan completely ducks under the fire except at point blank range. If Morrigan is crouching and the assist lands from even a slight distance it wont touch her. She also has a 4 frame c.L for easy punish. Her small hurt box during the c.L allows her to sometimes mash through the assist also. It’s not a guaranteed win situation like Wolverine though. Sometimes you’ll still get hit.
Something I noticed, while I can ussually beat or be safe from wolv’s divekick with tron’s gustaff fire assist, Trish’s seems to beat it clean… >.>
Noticed this last night playing my friend. I could punish Tron Fire assist on reaction with Spider-Man’s st.L. I was able to punish it also with Wesker’s cr.L if he whiffed (as mentioned above).
How do you guys feel about storm? I think she’s a bit underrated considering what function she performs on a team. Maybe not the best on point but she can basically turn random hits from a lot of characters into kill combos using TAC, as well as having amazing DHC options and good mixups on point. People say she has low damage but on the right team, 2 bars = death for any character. The same can be said for Magneto but honestly storm is a lot easier to apply than Magneto, and Storm is much better at blowing up assists.
Also her DHC combos aren’t some crazy training mode shit that you can drop if the breeze is blowing differently that day. It’s pretty much impossible to fuck up a kill combo with her, vs Magneto and the likes who take a great deal of execution and consistency to get it every time (and in mags case, usually the corner.
That’s mainly because Trish’s dive kick activates at a steeper angle which makes it easier for her to do a regular jump forward and land behind the vulnerable box of Tron. Tron is never actually invincible during the active frames of the assist. She’s just shooting out a projectile that has retarded priority during the active frames. If you know the ways to get around it then she will still get hit basically. Wolverine can definitely do a super jump dive kick behind her and hit her also
What makes Tron assist tough to punish initially is that she’s completely invincible before and after the short recovery of the active frames. Even Akuma assist is vulnerable to attack before the active frames. The only 2 assists that seem to be invulnerable before the active frames are Tron and Haggar. Which is why they’re 2 of the only real reversal style assists.
Concerning Storm…I think Storm tool wise is very solid but she just doesn’t do enough damage on point minus the DHC glitch. I dont see her being terribly scary without the DHC glitch unless people can find some other way to rack up damage with her. It’s not like she has a damaging level 3 either. Unless she ends up being the most mobile hardest to hit character in the game I dont really see her breaking past top 15. She’s a good character to compliment Magneto or Storm but at best she’ll be good at assisting a team. I dont really see her as the type of character that will run through teams like the old days.
Yeah if they fix the DHC glitch, she probably won’t be that great, but right now she’s really scary I think. Should pretty much assume that any hit from her = 100% since I imagine most people that use storm will use her for the DHC glitch and hail storm.
i was gonna say something about punishing trons assist with wesker, but deviljin covered everything already. basically wesker can’t punish it consistently because he doesnt go low enough or have fast enough normals.
that award goes to trish
