MvC3 Actual Balance/Potential Tiers Discussion

I can say that I’ve lost many characters to being in an RTSD mindset then X-factor into Doom Time does 900Kish and insta gibs or heavily injures one of the dominant forces in a match. Another thing I love/hate about Doom is the ridiculously long time to hit confirm off of foot dive! Chun’s 3S crouching forward must have a friend. D:

One of the main benefits of Wesker is that he’s an amazing battery who can still accomplish what he wants without using gauge. >.>;

Not saying his damage is bad, but you must be underestimating the damage output of some of the other characters can get when they’re free to use meter. This is including any DHCs they can tack on afterward.

God Viper is good but I’m tired of people saying crazy shit like she is second best in the game. seriously wtf? She has terrible normals and has a incredibly just time getting in. Yes she has tools to get past that but it does change the fact that there are characters that do her job better than she does. Top 15, maybe 10 but she is not sniffing the top.

What characters do her job better than she does aside from Dark Phoenix and why?

her goal is to rush you down. Wolverine is more effective at it, mags is, so is dante and zero and each has better tools to get it just by themselves. This is the type of overrating i’m talking about. She is no where near dark phoenix level lol.

Her goal is not purely to rush you down, though she does have tools for it, her fastest overheads that lead solo into combos are faster than Magneto’s, she has unblockables with viable set ups, and her damage output off a connected hit is higher than any of those characters other than Dante with high execution. Rush down Viper is the less efficient Viper, where space control building gauge into forced unblockables for 3 dead characters is much better. >.>;

Being easier to rush down with doesn’t mean better, she just needs to use more execution to get her version of it since her tools vary much more from situation to situation. Magneto is easier to rush down with, but Viper’s rush down is stronger high low and stronger pressure into unblockables while Mag’s left right is superior to her own thanks to hit boxes dash throughs etc.

i must ask then if she has all of these incredible setups how come no one is winning with her. I play viper and know of a few of them and they are not that difficult. The fact is that she can get utterly shutdown but rudimentary shit in this game. If she gets in then yes she is good, but it is very easy to keep her out. Seismo zoning is only so good and will not really aid in getting in. Most of those unblockables require a corner as well.

I mean shes good but top two? lol.

Zero is ass without assists to get in.

Why point out what other characters can do when they’re free to use meter when we’re talking about Wesker doing damage without meter?

And exactly how many characters do you know can do over 510,000 damage meterless and then off of that combo (their own OTG) set the opponent up for one of the most simple, yet devastating reset strats in the game?

There’s barely a few characters that can do over 510,000 without meter. Let alone put somebody in a bad position for more damage. Off-hand I can only think of Magneto (with a lot of precision and dashing and button pressing), Dante (the combo drop character king), and Wolverine (whose OTG sets up absolutely nothing).

Give her some time. The game has only been out a couple months, she’s not as simple as Wolverine or Sentinel. Already in the past couple of weeks she’s been showing some great play, MarlinPie dominated with her just last week.

At the time of the post, the discussion was related to Wesker’s damage without using meter. Mainly because he doesn’t really have any level 1 supers that are worth tacking onto his BnB combos. 510k is real solid and better than most of the cast without meter, but when meter comes into play other characters can match his damage since they get well over 200k if they tack on a super at the end, while Wesker barely gets over 100k extra with Maximum Wesker.

Apparently only characters that people have chosen to win majors/tournaments are really good/top tier.

She can’t get shut down by rudimentary things, keeping out Viper isn’t easy by any means, people have been taking top 3 at events with her, seismo is a broken tool that people aren’t using properly yet, she has midscreen unblockable set ups on multiple teams and she can use gauge to push people to the corner from midscreen anyways.

Invincible, hasn’t a Phoenix team pretty consistantly taken top 5 at most major events? A lot of second and third place entries with her…

And for characters that can hit that without gauge relatively easily, Doom, Zero, and Viper all don’t have any issue breaking 500K while building gauge assuming they’re on the right team. Mainly Doom as he builds an incredible amount of gauge with his loop.

Top 3 is magneto Dante wesker. That’s in order. Don’t debate me. It’s pointless. :cool:

omg magento is such an easy chaacter to use wow i feel like im using easy mode with him i would put him in 8th now chris is a better character though

Not entirely true. Phantom Dance actually does quite a bit of damage if you set it up properly (200k-275k). It is just that a lot of Wesker players prefer mix ups.
