MvC3: 2/3rds: The Morrigan Team Building Thread

Hmm. I’ll think ill try out Sent/Dormammu/Morrigan. Or would having them both be a bad idea? And could you elaborate more on the Dark Harmonizer+ Stalking Flares?

It’s funny you say that, because I was actually considering giving Sentinel/Dormammu/Morrigan a try as well.

This post explains the Stalking Flare + Dark Harmonizer utilization:

It’s all very theoryfighter-ish, and I’ve only ran it against AI for the most part due to being so busy IRL. You need Morrigan or another safe DHC behind Dormammu to protect you if your opponent tries to punish the Stalking Flare through a teleport or beam hyper.

Maybe ill try Sent/Dormammu/Morrigan and mess around in training mode.

And Wow. That is quite an indepth theory on that ^^. Ill have to learn how to utliize it! Thanks for the link

I’ve been challenged by my friend to beat my friend with an all girl team. Any suggestions? Why did u pick them?

Storm/Morrigan/Phoenix. Super jump, float, call Morrigan, fly, call Morrigan some more etc, get 5 bars before he gets 2, then just rush down like a crazy person until Dark Phoenix. If he’s issuing these kinds of silly challenges, I really don’t seem him beating the sheer lameness of this team.

Agreed with Nooneyouknow, though you can substitute Storm for Trish and do really well, too.

Anyway, just an update on me: I’ve been running Phoenix/Dormammu/Morrigan. I get Phoenix to Dark about 50% of the time, but Dormammu usually has to clean up. I’m really enjoying the team a lot, and I’ve been getting more salt than anything else I’ve used since release. The biggest downside of the team is counterpicks (Hidden Missiles/Skrull/Jam Session are all hard for Phoenix on point to deal with) and the unfortunately frequent incident of getting Dark Phoenix and then dying very soon after, leaving Dormammu with no meter and my 5 bars all wasted. I’m only using this team because I feel as though Phoenix is probably the closest thing to Firebrand in this game, even though they’re extremely different. I’m trying to get a handle on what his bad matchups would be before UMvC3 releases.

that’s pretty interesting
what happens to morrigan on this team? phoenix gets dark and dies fast dorm cleans up but does morrigan stay in the background the entire match?

I’m currently running morgs/tasky/h-ko
i think this team is good conceptually because you can go soul fist crazy and call tasky arrows(I use vert) and the hsien can help you defensively(however I don’t go gold often). but the thing i like most is the illusion tri dash h with arrows coming from above. also when i get them to the corner which doesn’t take long oddly enough dhcing out of air shower into vert arrows hard tag back into morgs hsien assist or just dhcing again to tenrai ha is pretty good

Phoenix, if she goes Dark, generally kills the entire enemy team as long as I can get one bar with her to put Healing Field up. If not, Dormammu can deal 1.5 million in chip with Dark Harmonizer + Purification + Stalking Flare against most of the cast without them having any form of retaliation at all. For those who do, I DHC to Morrigan to make it safe when needed. I will sometimes burn XF2 on Dormammu to clean up, but it depends on how good my opponent’s team is at handling XF3 Morrigan solo.

I just like using Morrigan cuz shes hot

Wesker, Hsien Ko, Morrigan.
Since my main team is a marvel team i decided to build a capcom team. I started with Hsien-Ko for her godlike powered up assist. Problem is shes not the greatest character to start. So the easiest way to power her up would have a battery character backed with morrigans dark harmonizer get to three bars and then cycle through. This effectively made my point Morrigan, and man is she effective when backed with H K’s Sen Bu. I was actually suprised by the synergy between the teams. Weskers assist allows Morrigan and H K and otg, not to mention High/Lo unblockables. Weskers builds meter like crazy and can really open ppl up with Sen Bu backing him. I generally also use the Xfactor as a level 2 on him. I really like this team’s synergy. They can all dhc back and forth as well (Though not the heaviest hitters) Anyhow thoughts? Gonna post this in the HK forums as well…

My teams are Deadpool/Morrigan/Hulk, Morrigan/Dormmamu/Tron, Morrigan/Wesker/Chun-li
Team1: I used Deadpool in the beginning to zone or rushdown while letting Morrigan build some meter, if I switch to Hulk I’ll just try to build some meter and using the DP otg assist to add more damage. Morrigan is normally sent last to finish off and use meter.
Team2: I put Morrigan at point to build some meter for Dorm and Tron and switch to Dorm to attack. Tron is there for her Gustaff Fire assist to switch into or extend Dormm combos. Morrigan cleans up last.
Team3: Same reason for the 1st, but I use the low hit Wesker OTG to do unblockables with Morrigan and Chun-Li, Chun-Li is mostly used the same way I use Morrigan.
Are these teams viable?
This is until UMVC3 which I’ll experiment with the assists for Morrigan’s air dash problem.

I started playing around with some possible team combinations that might make it possible for Morrigan to combo into Soul Drain. One method I found was to use a THC with a character who has a long hyper. If you use Dante, you can combo one Soul Drain mid-screen and two in the corner (it almost seems like you can get three, but I think it’s barely too slow). If you use Nemesis, he OTG’s for you, but you only get one Soul Drain in the corner. Another method I tried was using Amaterasu’s Vale of Mist with DHC Astral Vision, and then using the increased hitstun to combo Soul Drain, but I couldn’t figure out how to combo into it in such a way that Morrigan could pick up the combo after the DHC.

Day one of Firebrand/Dormammu/Morrigan, 3 ragequits and a hatemail!

So far my team is Iron Fist on point and Morrigan as my anchor. I want someone that can benefit Iron Fist and also works well with Morrigan. I was thinking of using Hawkeye with his triple arrow assist. Anyone have any suggestions?

I’m running Team Bullet Hell: Doom(Missiles)/Morri(DH)/Phoenix(Overdrive).

It works great, at least when I don’t drop every combo, and don’t have to fight Hawkeye.

imo u need someone with good projectiles, so theres alot to choose from, but it has to fit YOUR play style

I was also thinking of using Frank West with the Shopping Cart assist for lockdown, but I’m not a fan of Frank as a character. I’m more of a keepaway player myself but once I saw Iron Fist I fell in love lol. Someone pointed out to me that I might have to have 2 separate teams if I want to play IF and Morrigan.

could any help me with a morrigan team x.x i have no idea how to make a good team o.o any help/suggestion would be nice O:

Best teammates for Morrigans are meter-hungry characters who aren’t too reliant on other assists.
I’ve been running Vergil/RR/Morrigan. It’s been working out great, but so far RR has been dead weight other than his log trap assist. I really need to figure out this character…

I’ve been running Frank/Strange/Morrigan, often keeping her on anchor for XF3 clone soul drain shenanigans. She honestly doesn’t have the synergy Frank and Dr strange have, but the extra meter is always a benefit right?
