MvC3: 2/3rds: The Morrigan Team Building Thread

But of the two what do you think is an easier assist to use with Viper? I already can play Dante to an extent, but I’ve never really put the time into Strider. I’m mostly curious as to which assist will make life as a Viper noob easier.

Obviously both are very good for Viper. I believe Jam Session would be a little better for her than Vajra (I’m no Viper expert but i chat with Chrisis about Marvel allll the time, and he is). However, Dante is a bit tougher to play solo thasn Strider (optimally, at least). But if you’ve got a head start and a competent Dante, that’d be my recommendation. Another thought is to ask in the Viper threads :stuck_out_tongue:

viper morri jam means you’ll have to learn staircase converts off of jam and you should have the morrigan tac infinite.

viper morri strider is easier to play, and has different matchups overall. gotta remember not to let strider die.

Ive got to disagree with ThisGuileKillYa, I feel like Dante is easier to play than Strider is…but maybe thats just because ive dedicated more time to Dante. Either way, Vajra gives you easier fullscreen control, jam session gives better lockdown and high / low mixups. I personally feel like landing an unblockable on incoming is easier with Vajra, but thats just me.

Either way, both shells are very very solid teams. Just mess with both and see what you prefer.

Also, just keep in mind the way that jam session and vajra respectively effect Morrigan’s gameplay. Jam Session will force Morrigan to play more offensive with rushdown being based off of Soul Fist > plink dash, and trijumps. Vajra allows Morrigan to do fullscreen zoning more effectively, but it also means that Strider has the chance of getting bopped as there is a lot of anti Vajra tech.

Thanks guys:) I’ll probably play Viper/Morrigan/Dante because playing Jam instead of Vajra will make me practice my movement more. I’ll play Strider whenever I play against my friends who aren’t as good so I get a chance to play him.

@Oerba, I’ll be posting a casual set I had vs. my brother pretty soon. See some of the stuff I’m doing with Viper Morri Dante. If you can give me any tips or stuff that would work too. Still mostly just playing neutrally and don’t have all my converts yet.

Wait, are we talking about assist use? Or playing as them, anchor or otherwise? I was refering to the latter. However, I must concede that I have so little Strider experience, I really shouldn’t have been comparing him to anything. I just know using Dante WELL requires a lot of practice and precision, where as a lot of anchor Strider players you see just summon a few orbs, put on red pajamas, and do an impression of Ray Charles.

Anyway, for Morri I gotta recommend Jelly Session. For Viper I gotta recommend asking a Viper player. lol

I main viper morrigan , strider is the best anchor for that pair IMO. You wont even get to play if executed right. Besides assist , hes good for 1. N a half characters in xfactor pretty often !!

Who do you guys like as a meter dump anchor? Like, if the startegy is to just build tons of meter for an anchor, I’m trying to think who fits that well. Obvious choices are Phoenix, Vergil, and Strider. But I personally don’t much like the instability of Phx, no problem w/ Vergil, and Strider I just have little experience with.

But mainly just wonder if I’m overlooking anyone w/ a decent assist for Morrigan that can be very very scary when coated in red paint and can thrive in Obama’s meter economy. Dante, Akuma, Arthur even? <shrug> Might just need to learn Strider lol

jam session doesnt force morrigan to play more rushdown. it means her zoning will have less projectiles goin at them, but jam session defensively is strong when people try to rush in.

Dude, use Phoenix trust me. I have a reborn love of this game thanks to that character, she is ridiculously fun to play. Think about it, if you anchor Vergil, first of all, you’re gonna be bored with him. I tried playing him and I don’t know how people do it, he’s boring as hell, helm breaker, rapid slash, swords, rinse and repeat. You’ll win with him but I personally care more about having fun, unless you plan on winning EVO or something. Secondly, Phoenix is a 1 hit kill, but realistically so is Vergil. I know that if there is an anchor Vergil on the team, I’ll save my xfactor for him, try to get him on incoming and kill him with 1 hit. At least with Phoenix if you get mixed up on incoming, you’ll still have the DP transformation, which means they have to hit you twice. Same as Vergil goes for Strider, except that Strider is actually pretty fun to play. I’ve played with him a bit recently and he is pretty fun. Also, if you get 5 meters early enough, which you should since you have Morrigan, you can find a good spot to tag her in and use a bar or 2 go into bullet hell. Morrigan builds meter during AV so by the time you’re done with it, you’ll have 4 1/2 bars and depending on how good you’re doing, you can even burn another bar. My team is Doom(missiles)/Morrigan(harmonizer)/Phoenix(tk trap)

I agree, anchor Vergil is boring as hell, at least with Phoenix you get pretty feathers n’ shit all over the screen. I also enjoy playing Strider, jumped into the lab with him for a bit and played some casual matches with him on point, he’s so quick!

The cool kids play arthur on anchor.

Too slow, he meets the flashy colors requirement but lacks in the fly/dash like a madman requirement.

i have 2 disagree with a couple things, phoenix really is a great character and is fun but 2 many people misuse her and others in my opinion… too many people run, jump, assist, and blast with her. i really do love the character just not how easy it is 2 be a bitch kno what i mean… i myself use Morrigan/Dante/Viewtiful Joe and i personally dont use assist at all, unless i have no choice cuz ever since MvC2 online i cant stand how it seems like the enemy’s tweaking out pressin L1 R1 and doom’s is 1 of the worst, anyway besides just being characters in 3 of my most favorite games i once used that charc. combo and did a combo into joes mach speed to team air combo with morrigan, into another with dante, agni and rudra combo down into dantes special after that i just loved the team and its been my go to ever since

…What?

sorry man i just came in and only read a couple posts haha

Wow, that’s some scrub mentality shit.

Morrigan/Doom/Phoenix is a good team in some match ups, but it doesn’t deal with pressure very well. you will have to learn to use TK Overdrive as an assist properly, the others are too slow to help out in situations that are bad for the team. Doom/Morrigan/Phoenix only really works against exceptionally bad teams or poor players, but it straight demolishes them.

Also, if this is your main team, be absolutely prepared to have a B team for the really bad match ups.

Lol, it is scrub mentality, but I accept it. Phoenix is my favorite character thanks to her ridiculous priority on mobility/projectiles/teleports and I was frankly getting tired of spamming soul fists. With this team I get to play a more rush down Morrigan, which I’m enjoying more. And it’s 5 meters guaranteed practically every time so you gotta steal one from me, which is never certain. I honestly don’t care about winning anymore, I just wanna have fun. Plus I’m not really losing, I’m going about .500 against the >1st lord on XBL and I completely suck with Phoenix right now.

Which assist would morrigan benefit from more with Zero? Dp provides a decent gtfo assist a lot better in sougenmu but the blades provide extra chip and keeps them pinned full screen. the other assist available is vajra.
