MvC3: 2/3rds: The Morrigan Team Building Thread

Yessir ive got LL’s on lock. Just needa work on my neutral with Zero. Opinions on Morrigan / Dante / Strider?

Good team, I think that your damage output is just going to be really low. You’ll need lots of resets to kill.

Fuck it. Ive accepted Doom as my assist and savior.

Zero / Morrigan / Doom
Mags / Morrigan / Doom

Who can cover Doom the besT? Also, could I get a comparison and contrast of each team against the other? I know there are quite a few MagMorridoom players, but who plays ZeroMorriDoom?

Flocker is the only top player that uses Zero/Morri/Doom and its more so a side/alternate team than a main team. If you watched the grand finals of final round you would have seen him use it. I would say the main difference is Magneto gives you better mobility and throw game while Zero gives you better TOD potential and arguably easier hit conversions.

I thought Morrigan shut down Zero and Hawkeye, Magneto I can see getting in on here what with magnetic blast and his insane air mobility. I am pretty set on using morrigan though but I can probably drop Dorm if I have to against more rush down based teams. Suggestion on a character that will help kill rush down characters? I main Hulk at the moment so maybe Hulk?

Morrigan/Dorm/Doom is a good team but its not end game or really that broken at all. The problem is that if something beats or counters morrigan then it also probably beats Dormammu.

The team is just two really lame shells together but the synergy between morrigan and dormammu is minimal.

Im just gonna run Magneto/Morrigan/Doom from now on.

Hulk is okay, but I think Nova is better. His dolphin kick stops most rush down characters on their tracks, especially Wolverine

So Morr/Nova/Doom? That sounds pretty interesting to be honest.

Well if you’re dealing with heavy rush down in the beginning, you might wanna start Nova. Then when you get 2 meters you can rocket super as far away from your opponent as possible and dhc into astral vision. But the team order you have is good too, problem is Nova’s assists suck

If I’m dealing with rushdown wouldn’t Akuma be a good option? It’s starting to seem that I may need to go with a GTFO assist if I see my opponent going with a rushdown team. Meaning that Haggar, Akuma, Hulk and Vergil would be good options. Then for zoning I could potentially switch out Dorm for Dr.Strange and have Eye of avocado to help with zoning or even bolts.

Coming up with an efficient Morrigan team is difficult.

Akuma or Jam Session would both be strong GTFO me assists. Especially Jam Session since they can’t jump or fly over jam session and Morrigan’s fireballs and great normals can protect the recovery of the assist.

If youre playing Morrigan / Doom, why dont you just use put Morrigan second if you really need a gtfo assist. Shadowblade is tied for fastest assist in the game (that actually hits). Shadowblade and Chuns upkicks both have 2 frame start and amazing priority. Its almost like using Psyblade. Just switch out your point character depending on what you want to do…or pick a point character who can deal with both zoning and rushdown (Zero, Mags, Dante, Storm, Spiderman to an extent, Thor…etc.) Certain characters may not be as strong as others, but you always have a choice.

Im personally running MagsMorriDoom. I also run a secondary team of DanteMorriDoom.

Ive also got a question though:

What is the best Morrigan / Phoenix team?

Mags / Morrigan / Phoenix?
Morrigan / Doom / Phoenix?
Zero / Morrigan / Phoenix?
some other team?

Hey guys it’s me ol dirty magnus.

After going in the lab fuckin around with morrigan I find that I really enjoy her style play what with being able to efficiently flood the screen solo and ability to rushdown with the safest shit ever lol

So my question is (on some no braggin type of shit though I have crazy execution now) which of her bnbs and hit confirms should I focus on the most?

^^ This should probably be in her general thread, but no biggie. Focus on her Soul Fist loops and how to confirm off of her M Shadowblade (its not used enough by most people…its really fucking good and you get a free combo off of it). Her infinite isnt too bad either and does about 60K per rep depending, but yeah.

I dont personally think Marvel is an execution heavy game to be honest. KoF is much more difficult.

Doom/Morrigan/Phoenix by far. I’ve run this team several times and with Doom’s lame game and Morrigan’s meter assist, it’s 5 bars guaranteed every time. Also if you get 5 meters early enough, you can finger laser-raw tag Morrigan safely and go into astral vision with missiles assist

Problem with Hulk and Haggar is that they are ideally point characters that need their own assists in order to work. I’m scared of point Hulk/Haggar, especially online, but if they’re second they simply aren’t as good, just my opinion. Akuma could work, as he is naturally an anchor and obviously Vergil works too, however, Rapid Slash is not as good as people think, it has slow startup and opponents can easily react and jump over it. But of course if you run Vergil, you’ll have a godlike anchor to rescue you no matter what. If you’re intent on starting Morrigan, which I agree with, the best assist to use as a GTFO me assist is Jam Session by far. The ideal Morrigan team is Morrigan/Dante Jam Session/Doom Hidden Missiles. The only reason I don’t use that team is that Dante is kind of hard to learn and he’s a character that has been popular since vanilla, so the meta game for him is very advanced. Unless you already know how to use Dante, it will take you a while to get him up to shape. Personally I use Morrigan/Doom Missiles/Nova Cent Rush because I think Morrigan on point is ideal but frankly, rush down was such a problem for me that I developed a Wolvie/Doom/Nova team to deal with all that BS, and it’s highly effective. I also run a Nova/Morrigan/Doom Plasma beam team too. It’s weird using Plasma Beam with Morrigan but the reason I did that was because not only is it great for point Nova, but realistically, you don’t need Hidden Missiles against characters like Wolvie, who can’t stay in the air very long. Plasma Beam also happens to be a decent GTFO me assist in addition. As far as Strange goes, I actually tried a MorriDoom team with Strange and I just didn’t like it. Eye of Agamotto takes forever to come out and if you’re dealing with any type of rush down, Strange is going to eat a lot of hits and his health is soooo low, that very often opponents just killed him with a super. Bolts assists is okay, but nowhere near as good as EoA for Morrigan. Just mess around with a few characters and find something that you like. My team is far from ideal but it works for me.

Decided to play a couple sets of Morrigan/Doom/Dante today, starting to think that it might be better than the team I’m currently running, Morrigan/Doom/Ammy. I’ve never even been in the lab with the team but it’s so easy to confirm off of Jam Session with Doom, was harder with Morrigan to convert. But, the difference was in that it’s so much easier to call Jam Session than Cold Star in the neutral. Morrigan’s rushdown is so much stronger with Jam Session. I think I’ve found my final three Morrigan teams: Morridoom/Ammy, Magneto/Morridoom, and Morridoom/Dante. I personally believe that these are the most stable and strong Morrigan teams in the game, what do you guys think? For note, I’m using this post as an excuse to see how my new avatar I took off the ZonedOut tourny stream that ChrisG “hosts” looks, I can’t get over how cute the picture is <3

EDIT: Fixed some wording to make things sound less…weird.

It’s a good team. Jam session isn’t really hard to combo off of near the corner with morrigan, but it does really scale the combo. That doesn’t really matter if you’re going to TAC to doom though. But that team gives your morrigan a ridiculously helpful set of assists to use, you just need to figure out how to use doom+dante to the fullest. Oh and I wouldn’t say those are the top 3 best morridoom teams, but they are three of the best. Obviously morridoom with vergil or strider is up there as well.

For a normal 2 bar DHC I don’ but if you’re willing to spend 3, and don’t want to squeeze, Whatever xx Hyper grav xx Tempest DHC Finishing Shower, Shadow Blade xx Finishing Shower in the corner will work.

Vanilla really killed my ability to keep track of this forum.

In regards to Morri/Doom/Phoenix, my final opinion on my old team is: Don’t do it. It absolutely destroys most bad teams, and just gets obliterated by good teams, unless you’re very solid with calling Overdrive in neutral.

Hey guys, just wanted to here your thoughts on a team I was thinking about which consists of Morrigan(harmonizor)/Doom(missles)/Strange(bolts). Was wondering how bolts helps MorriDoom in general, and if anyone already uses this setup.Thanks.
