Currently messing around with:
Zero (Hadangeki) / Morrigan (Harmonizer) / ??? (Strider, Doom or Dante)
Doom seems like the most brain dead solution so far in the matches I’ve had and it’s great being able to TAC into infinites but Strider boosts the BS factor and gives Zero much more immediate control when he’s zoning the fuck out of you in Sougenmu. Oh and Morrigan with double Hadangeki is pretty nuts.
Whole idea of the team is to build ludicrous amounts of meter and whether it’s Zero or Morrigan they’ll have virtually infinite amounts of meter to zone/ chip you out. Get a hit? TODs without relying on retarded TACs is still highly viable. Found a few Soul Drain combinations using Ryuenjin and Double Hadangeki but Morrigan’s still less than a week old.
My question is- is there any current known tech between Zero/Morri or am I gonna have to find my own shit?
I haven’t seen any substantial tech with that combo. There’s a Texan player named Buckethead who uses Zero/Morrigan/Doom, I think there are some videos of him on YouTube.
How about Morrigan/RR? I’m actually an X-23 user and thinking of an obscure yet cool X-23 team. I like RR allot due to his character and assist, so the third would likely be an anchor which i think Morrigan can handle. What is your opinion on this?
I know Morrigan has soul drain combos with log trap and the spring super, I believe Byakoko(?) made a video. There is a Japanese player who plays Ammy/Morrigan/RR, there are videos of him on YouTube as well.
I really don’t like the Morrigan/Vergil 2nd pairing, but any 'ole standard vergil DHC ought to do the trick.
For corner, I recommend; activate spiral swords, hold M. Helmbreaker, L judgement orb, release M to throw round trip, L judgement orb (hold L), lunar phase (ground bounce, cr. H, stinger (wall bounce, after which the opponent should be on the other side), release L to throw round trip, cr. H (call missiles assist) xx L judgement orb (hold L), lunar phase, release L to throw round trip when missiles hit, cr. H xx L judgement orb, cr. H xx lunar phase, high time.
Midscreen you may have to play around with a little bit, but I would go for something similar to: activate spiral swords (hold L), trick M, helmbreaker (I think two should work, but one would be very simple), release L to throw round trip, L judgement orb (hold L), cr. H, stinger (wall bounce) xx trick M, (walk forward) st. SH (ground bounce), release L to throw round trip, cr. H (call missiles assist) xx L judgement orb (hold L), lunar phase, release L to throw round trip when missiles hit, cr. H xx L judgement orb, cr. H xx lunar phase, high time.
Yeah corner is no problem, trying to get something midscreen is tough. I’ll just keep working at it I guess. I wonder if Shadow Servant xx DHC to Devil Trigger (call missiles) Trick H Helm Breaker etc. would work.
I’ll play around with it right now, I was about to marvel anyways. I think there is ample time to do either, depending on what you’re trying to accomplish. Just cancel shadow servant early
Played around with some things, here is what I recommend off of a ground back throw:
742k - 2 bars to start - loss of 1/2 meter - shadow servant dhc to spiral swords with missiles extension
905k - 2 bars to start - loss of 1 1/2 meter - additional sword loop
This was actually a little bit more difficult than I had initially expected. Lots of places you can drop your sword loops if you aren’t careful. Anyways, here’s notations and tips to help on spacing/height control on the loops.
Back throw, shadow servant (I try to DHC when the 3rd shadow blade hits) dhc to spiral swords (hold L), trick M (here you’re going to want to walk backwards until the swords hit twice, and then go for a cr. H. You’ll have to work the kinks out yourself, that’s just what worked for me), cr. H xx release L to throw round trip, cr. H xx L judgement orb (hold L), cr. H, stinger (wall bounce) xx trick M, st. SH (ground bounce, if you got a back throw with them in the corner, no spacing required here. If you were just “somewhere midscreen”, you may have to walk forward before the S to get the subsequent H to hit), release L to throw round trip, cr. H (call missiles assist) xx L judgement orb (hold L), lunar phase, release L to throw round trip when missiles hit, cr. H xx L judgement orb, cr. H …
No. I’ll give an A- to morrigan/vergil/strider and that’s it. There are a few teams where she still fits and is part of a team that overall works but she is not the problem/focus of a good team unless doom is on it.
A heavily zoning centric team. Cheech Wizard plays the team, not sure on what his opinion on it is though. I personally don’t like it because I think that Dorm needs two neutral assists (horizontal being the one this team lacks) to be most effective, but I don’t play Dorm…So yeah lol.
I was using Morrigan/Dorm/Akuma (i refuse to play doom) and it was working well. I find Dorm gets rushed down pretty bad, and his assists dont do too much for Morrigan (was using Pillar) so I switched to Strange. Im using daggers so when im throwing fireballs and they fly I can call them and they track. Not quite as good as missiles but is def working well.
Is there any other assist besides missiles that can provide similar lockdown in tandem with AV?
I really would prefer not use doom if possible, as I hate running doom anchor. It’s either take doom off, or find an anchor that works well that is NOT Vergil. He’s the one character I refuse to use.
Can stranges daggers help control aerial movement as well as missiles ? Maybe jam session or purification ? I know vajra can help, but I also know strider gets bodied by anchor Vergil. I’ve been soul searching for a long time now, and I think if I can find something to replace doom missiles with, it’ll make my choosing a third much easier.
All of that being said, I’m willing to run Morridoom if I have to.
Chrisis uses Viper/Harmonizer/Jam Session and that’s currently my new side team also. Morrigan/Dante work really well together also since Jam Session gives you an assist that locks people out from getting near you from an extended period of time. There’s no way to maneuver around it without using an invincible or projectile invincible move. Once it’s out they’re forced to respect the wall for the most part. Plus if you push them towards the corner you can set up mix ups and what not off it also. Viper/Morri/Dante is the best team to use if you don’t want to use Doom. I’m not a big fan of anchor Doom anymore also so yeah.
Strange’s dagger assist is his worst assist. You might as well just use bolts like dieminion. The tracking on the assist is terrible compared to missiles or vajra and easy to maneuver around. Plus Strange stays out there forever afterwards without anything covering him other than your fireballs. Plus anchor Strange basically has opposite bad matchups of Doom and probably does a little bit worst than Doom in some others by himself also if he’s low on meter.
Viper/Morri/Strider is pretty strong though and gives you the ability to switch into XF2 Strider and build up meter with harmonizer to get access to ouro faster or build meter back for Morri AV. Vergil vs. Strider really isn’t that bad either way. It’s just whoever gets the other to block first IMO.
I would go with Viper/Morri/Dante since Jam Session is the best assist for both Viper and Morri. Plus Dante does the best matchup wise without meter of the 3 without meter and can get better damage solo without XF than Strider.
