After trying out hopscotch assist last night, I didn’t get much out of it to help Morrigan’s offense. It’s great if you’re playing keepaway but its hard to follow up after it unlike peekaboo. A good use of peekaboo is to call the assist just before crossing up with Morrigan’s airdash/updash. If you’re playing against keepaway like arthur, they have tendency of jumping away into the trap if your cross-up attempt fails. Plus when the trap is placed behind them, there’s little they can do to destroy it, and Trish is relatively safe when called out.
Actually im going to use Shulk, Ammy, Morrigan because I think the dog is a better partner for Morrigan than Tron.
I’m so happy to see that other people have been using Trish and Morrigan together lol. I’ve been using Trish (peekaboo), Morrigan (DH), Wesker (Samurai Edge). I feel like it’s a pretty solid team but I’m not sure what the best order would be. I think all 3 characters could be a good anchor and good on point, though I like having Wesker as an assist to set up unblockables for Trish and Morrigan. Does anyone have suggestions? I haven’t experimented with the DHC trick at all, but are there any setups between these characters?
How does Magneto(Disruptah), Morrigan(Meter whore), Doom(HIDDEN MISSILES!!!) seem?
I’ve been thinking of characters that go well with morrigan and magneto seems like he could be a good choice. Magneto builds meter fairly easily and can do the DHC trick from magnetic tempest into morrigan’s clone super for quite a bit of damage.
I also saw this one guy from a stream somewhere used magnetos BNB combo to gain nearly enough meter for a level 3 at the start of a match, but used amaterasu’s bloom in the combo to gain just enough for a level 3. Morrigan would serve that purpose as well(not that it matters for me cause I’m not gonna be able to do combos like that till I practice a crudload more).
Magnetic Shockwave can also DHC into shadow servant or finishing shower. One thing morrigan suffers from is weak DHC with most characters, but magneto helps with that problem with magnetic shockwave.
Doom is just there cause hes awesome.
^^ seems solid, only problems i can see are that 1) Doom has absolutely HORRIBLE DHC synergy with Morrigan. 2) You dont have a quick assist to keep them locked down…doom missles are great, but you have to call them early which could be irritating…because if they hit, they scale your combos a lot…3) unless you have doom on point, you might have some trouble vs good zoning teams.
Other than that, it definitely seems like that team could do work, just needa work it right. definitely could be worse…
Doom has terrible DHC synergy with Morrigan and Magneto. It’s really just a waste of meter in most situations to DHC into Doom with either of those characters. Honestly though, Doom has terrible hypers to begin with so you might not even care you can’t DHC with him.
Morrigan and Magneto share very similar properties and two of their level 1 hypers are damn near identical in how they function.
DHCing with them is, while not as difficult as Doom, still pretty situational at times and you will probably end up burning meter for DHC’s that just aren’t worth the damage output you would get with another character. For example, like you said you can DHC Magnetic Shockwave into Finishing Shower, but it only really works in the corner. DHCing into Shadow Servant isn’t worth the meter spent, especially in the corner.
In my opinion, I would suggest either replacing Magneto or Morrigan on your team and finding someone who compliments the character you decided to keep more. I tried to get both Magneto and Doom to work with Morrigan at one point or another, but just couldn’t get it to ever work for me.
Your mileage may vary, but that’s just some things I learned from my experience.
This is mad ghetto but I just like using Chun/Morrigan, I’m stubborn and gonna make it work (when I have the time:rofl:). I have Morrigan with shadow blade assist. Since Chun benefits from otgs, when I’m done with with a bnb and spike them to the ground, I just team super when I have 2 meters. What happens is that Morrigan quickly picks them and gets the hell out, while Chun gets her legs super to continue the combo. The only problem is I can have them flip out in the middle of the second combo, if I was doing something to make mass hitstun scaling like putting in 3 air LLs before the team combo.
When have greater than 3 meters it gets kind of messy. Been fooling around and got Hulk using gamma avalanche to work decent in the corner without screwing it up. Chris’ grenades eventually mess with chun’ super but it does decent damage imo. With Arthur I can try to tap them with something, but it gets goofy because they kind of get shot up at a different time and height than Chun because Arthur’s super is longer than hers. (I might just mash to try to get something, I think I can probably try to get a followup, even though it is awkward)
Well any way, without digressing away from Morrigan anymore, I think I’ll spend some time in the lab seeing what I can do with Morrigan’s super to get the pick up.
You should throw Wesker into the mix. Both Chun and Morrigan benefit a lot from not only an OTG assist, but a fast low hitting assist for unblockables. You can do some pretty dangerous stuff with those two characters mixed with Samurai Edge. With Wesker’s OTG you can save those two meters that you would have used with the THC and use them for Morrigan’s Astral Vision since she benefits so much from having meter.
Wesker works for everything honestly. Though I’m just experimenting with this on the weekend just to see what comes out of it. I doubt I would use wesker on this team at least, since I think I’ll stick some other character I like (I like Wesker but then again I like to experiment with 90% of the cast. Props to Capcom on the character selection, seriously). I sort of just wanna see different ways to burn meter with Chun while I’m at it, since they actually supers scale so well compared to stuff like her normals and LL. I’m experimenting Thc on Morrigan because she recovers off of shadow servant pretty fast (while on point she can fly up and get some hits but nothing too fancy, yet) while other hypers are still ongoing. I haven’t made much combos off it yet (School vs. Mvc3 is broke) but I can do a little of something at least.
Might seem gimmicky at the moment but I think I can get Morrigan to help those without otgs to land supers and followups (More so because supers scale decently compared to other moves. I need to look up the wiki because I know that some supers scale really well like Chris’ sweeper combo). I’ll probably use this sparingly if nothing comes out of it but I think it’s something I’ll just keep in mind honestly.
Also, the wiki seems to change very little from the beginning except for some apprentice combos on some character pages. Would the community like to actually compile something to add to it? It looks cool but I think it’s kind of empty.
currently using wesker / chun / morrigan, so would really love to see what comes out of your testing. the one thing i’m worried about is for rushing in, i don’t have a cover like IM’s unibeam…though apparently chun and wesker are like a match made in heaven so i’ll have to test it out too…
My day 1 team was Tron/Morrigan/Felicia which I proudly dubbed, the powerpuff girls lol. I did alright for a beginner but I dropped Felicia when Shuma came out. So I now use Shuma as anchor with Morrigan on point. I really love Morrigan on point because I find it easy to get the first hit in. Especially against people who mindlessly rush in with characters like Ammy or Task. She’s also very good against lame Sents. It’s really easy to get her Corner Finishing Shower into Down Air Exchange (everyone falls for it) into Trons Lunch Rush, and end with another Finishing Shower; It usually kills the character. I also like using her Finishing Shower into Tron’s King Servebot which is also another corner only DHC. I really just play my team because it’s different from the norm teams you see on PSN/XBL, I’m not really looking for the best pairing. I did make it to 3rd lord with them last night which is a big accomplishment for me lol. Any advice would be appreciated.
I’m having such a terrible time finding a second I actually like. I’m happy with Wesker on point, and I’m still absolutely in love with Morri as anchor. Practically none of the rest of the cast that I like, or find fun to play fits well in that second slot though. Phoenix works, I suppose, but while I don’t feel that Wesker needs an assist, I’d still like one to cover his teleports better. Phoenix is also a bit too meter hungry, as is Dormammu. Ideally, I’d like to horde meters for Lost In Nightmares, THC OTGs after low samurai edge, and of course Morri in general. A more practical DHC trick starter than Mustang Kick would also be quite nice. I feel like I’m doomed to playing Storm in that slot, much as I dislike the character. If only Deadpool had L or M Happy Trigger as an assist.
**
Use Chris. Besides the fact that his assist is EXACTLY what happy trigger L/M would be, he doesnt use much meter at all, and benefits greatly from having Wesker’s OTG assist. dude can deal a shitload of damage from an OTG, without using any meter. Another plus to having Chris is…hes a tank. He has a lot of health…and you can play keep away if you want. Only downside to using him is that DHCing into him is absolutely terrible.
Other characters that could play the role youre looking for include:
Iron Man
Storm
Amaterasu
Thor
Taskmaster
Dante
Dormammu (He doesnt HAVE to use meter. it just makes him a lot more scary)
Doom (cant go wrong with his assists)
Mags
I’ve been fucking around with the Mags/Morgz duo and you build so much meter having Mags + Dark Harmonizer it is retarded. One touch with this duo(thanks to the DHC trick) should kill pretty much every character since you build so much meter with Magneto combos and meter assist in the mix. It also helps that they can actually DHC with each other pretty well outside of the glitch.
Trish, Storm, Morrigan.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner. I believe ive found a team that is perfect for me. Let me explain why:
Things I look for in characters:
-
Mobility. One of the most important factors for my character selection. All three characters have trijumps. perfect.
-
Popularity: I hate playing characters that EVERYONE plays. I know Storm is one of the more common characters, but I dont feel like she is one of the super popular characters like Mags / Phoenix / Dante / Wesker / etc
-
If they fit my play style: Spider Man has great mobility, but doesnt fit my playstyle. I like to play very safe and fish for an opening, then once I get the opportunity, I make it count for as much as I can.
-
Overall team cohesion: I believe all of my characters compliment each other.
-
Mixup potential: I just plain love mixup characters. Kinda goes hand in hand with mobility options.
Trish: Point character.Trijump. Can switch between offense and defense as fast as I like. Good DHC’s. Good mixup potential. Good chip game. I use Trish to feel out the opponent and see how they play. I can play semi lame / fish for a hit and while im doing so I can safely analyze their playstyle.
Storm: All purpose character. fits perfectly with…well…everyone.
Morrigan: godlike anchor. yall know what it is ;D
Im happy.
Still having problems finding good teammates for Morrigan and I always end picking the team I’m most comfortable with (Trish, Akuma, Sent) I believe Morrigan, Trish and Sent are my three best characters, but I really can’t pair her up with any character because of her poor synergy potential. I really wish Capcom would release Strider already - Morrigan + Strider would’ve been a perfect team for me.
Anyway, I’m still trying out some stuff with her. Like I said, Trish is one of my best character, so I wouldn’t mind pairing her up with Morrigan but I fail to see the synergy between them.
^^ This is why I have trish on Point and Morrigan Anchoring. I wont really have to DHC from Morrigan to trish, or vica versa, very often. and when i DO have to DHC from morrigan to trish, I can simply do air magic, air S, OTG Shadow Servant > High Voltage if i want the damage, or, Shadow servant > round harvest > switch to morrigan / storm for mixups. storm works great in between trish and morrigan because of her DHCability with Hail, and her assist is great…and I like saving Morrigan for last anyways…and its not like I dont like storm…shes fun to use
I think I actually like Thor on this team. Need to practice moving with him some more, but he feels like he has great synergy with Morri, and Mighty Smash assist works great for finishing Wesker combos into Lost in Nightmares. Going to have to play around and see whether I prefer Mighty Smash, or Mighty Spark as an assist. While Mighty Spark gives good screen coverage, it’s too slow to use after a low Samurai Edge and keep a combo going. And work on learning to move quickly with Thor.
My team currently consists of Morrigan-A/Dante-A/Magneto-A. This team has been working out for me alot because Dante’s Jam Session or Magneto’s EM Disruptor combined with Astral Vision/Soul Fist zoning allows me to control a lot of the space on the screen. I think this team allows me to switch between zoning and rushing as well.
Dante’s Jam Session provides me with a barrier of some sorts that I can safely hide behind and fire Soul Fists from, while Disruptor’s fast startup serves as a proper ground zoning tool. When I combine this with Astral/Vision and fly/unfly Soul Fists I can zone, chip away and stay safe to a certain degree. Beware of beam supers a la Shinku Hadoken, because it’ll mess your shit up.
In any case, this is the team I’m running, but I’m still a total beginner at this game and the Marvel series. Any feedback would be appreciated
something nice, that most people dont know, is that Thor’s Mighty Tornado hyper (in the air) leaves them in an unrecoverable state if you DHC before the last hit. its pretty damn easy to kill someone by doing Thors BnB (which does at LEAST 620k) then DHC’ing to Morrigan (Astral Vision ) and proceed to combo, or if you REALLY want to make sure the opponent is dead, Astral Vision > XFC > combo. His Mighty thunder also puts them in an unrecoverable state so you can follow up with a full screen beam DHC.
Just throwing it out there.
