MvC3: 2/3rds: The Morrigan Team Building Thread

Let me know how that goes Dante, I’ve been trying to use X-23 with Morrigans soul fist assist since I don’t have a projectile assist for my team. one good thing I like about it is that it’s fast and the durability was better than I thought.

morrigan has been the anchor for my Vjoe/X-23 team since launch.

i find random supers to be really effective for joe, so morrigan feeding me meter while i run away at times is great, she can do the DHC trick from x 23s super. and her rush down and combos gets a lot from X-23s low otg assist. not to mention lvl 3 x factor + AV makes her just as good as any other character
plus I think she handles her self very well in one on ones at the end of games

Will do, I’m still working on my terrible Morrigan game so it might be a while

currently rotating her in my teams… i can use X23, Chun, Xavin, Ammy, and Morrigan… my main team is Xavin/Chun/X23… i’ve temporarily swapped out 23 with Morrigan and stating her on point… her rushdown and astral vision tricks normally leave only a little work to be done by Chun and Xavin… only problem im running into is no OTGs… but if i ever really need an OTG i switch in x23

I use She Hulk-A/Morrigan-Y/Tron-B.

I don’t know if that’s a good team or not. I just basically use Tron for the Gunstaff Fire assist.

who is xavin?

After a quick search I’m assuming Barzaad’s referring to Super Skrull, yes?

Tried out Morrigan (Dark Harmonizer) / Amaterasu (Cold Star) / Trish (Peekaboo)

Wow, this team was effective and really fun. I had a lot of success with it despite not really knowing much about Amaterasu and Trish’s gameplay.

Morrigan’s keepaway and rushdown are boosted by both Ammy’s cold star and Trish’s peekaboo assist. The traps work really well if you’re trying to zone out your opponent, Morrigan’s runaway game is so good while she throws out fireballs, and calling the trap assist every now and then just makes her that much more annoying to deal with! Plus she can get a free combo if it manages to catch the opponent. Cold star is all-around great and works really well when you’re trying to apply pressure or crossing up the opponent. Okami shuffle is also one of the only hypers in the game that can DHC out of Morrigan’s Finishing Shower.

I usually put Morrigan on point and Trish as anchor, but Trish on point and Morrigan anchor works just as well. Morrigan meter assist is one of the best assists for Trish IMO cause she burns meter really fast when throwing out those Round Harvests. One of my favorite DHCs with Trish is Round Harvest -> Astral Vision. The opponent is forced to block and AG won’t push Morrigan away, meaning the opponent is forced to eat Morrigan’s Astral Vision mixup while stuck in a blockstring! Ammy is always best in the middle since she has the easiest and the best DHCs.

Yeah, the wolf is a gdlk partner for the succubus. Is peekaboo or hopscotch a better assist to use with Trish? The peekaboo gets destroyed by nearly any attack so I’m unsure if I should use it over hopscotch.

I can’t believe I never tried pairing her with Ammy before lol. I honestly think the hopscotch assist would work just as well as the peekaboo assist since it pretty much serves the same purpose. The only trouble I had with peekaboo was that Trish would get caught in a lot of beam hypers when called out as an assist, so if hopscotch is less vulnerable and quick, it would be a better choice IMO.

I prefer peekabo.
Yeah, it has terrible durability but you’re not using it to win a projectile fight. At least I hope not
If the trap isn’t destroyed, there’s a very good chance they’ll forget where it is since it’s barely visible on screen as it is.
Hopscotch’s weakness is there’s a glowing spot on the ground that says “HEY GUiS I SET A TRAP HERE”.
It’s also super good to set up when the opponents next character jumps in, since they’re forced to guard you can set up some interesting situations.

Of course, all my Trish experience comes from using her with Wesker. I have maybe 5 minutes of experience using Trish with Morrigan, so your mileage may vary depending on your play style.

Peekaboo is actually her fastest assist unfortuantly. Hopscotch is 10 frames slower than peekabo, Low Voltage is 15 frames slower and they’re all equally vulnerable. Boo-urns.

That sucks. :frowning:
Looks like i’ll have to stick with Peekaboo assist, and use it more carefully from now on. And yeah, Peekaboo has that surprise factor where opponents will unknowingly fall into it unlike Hopscotch which can be seen very clearly.

The problem is that physical attacks can destroy peekaboo, so if they come in mashing or know physical attacks can destroy the trap then there goes my corner setup. =/

Oh snap, really?
Hell, I didn’t even know that. I’ve never seen anyone destroy a peekaboo with a physical hit.
Maybe I just don’t pay enough attention…

Edit: Popped in Marvel just now and punched a bunch of traps for funsies.
I’ve only tested for a couple minutes, but even though you can beat the trap with normals, mashing won’t prevent them from getting hit when their next character comes in.

The trap is set at a weird angle slightly below where the character comes in from and is difficult, if not impossible, to hit with normals from a jump in.
Every character I’ve mashed with has gotten hit. There might be some characters who can negate the trap by mashing, but as of right now I still think it’s a good option for the corner.

Of course, they can air dash completely over it but that’s a different story.

The nice thing about having an assist that you have problems with getting punished is it forces you to learn how to call in your assists and protect them in different situations so they don’t get blown up.
Kinda like how having low health characters forces you to learn how to block and wait for openings instead of rushing in and relying on a health crutch.

…Also, this is me finding optimism in a cup that’s half empty

Is Morrigan, She Hulk, Tron a good team? Please, someone reply to this. I want to know if my team has good synergy.

^ Pretty good, yeah.

  • She Hulk + Tron has good synergy together because Tron covers her offense and set up command grab mixup.
  • Tron + Morrigan are also pretty good, imo. Tron pretty much protects anything Morrigan tries to do. You can either rushdown with Tron assist (Gustaff Fire) backing you, or zone with Soul Fists and call Tron whenever your opponent tries to get in on you.
  • Morrigan + She Hulk with Morrigan on point, can easily set up unblockables with She Hulk’s low assist and Morrigan multi hitting j.:s: at the same time.

As for good DHCs, you’ll have to discover that by yourself, but I believe you can do She Hulk > Tron Dinner Time > Morrigan Finishing Shower. Not too sure, though.

She-Hulk’s dropkick super > Morrigan Finishing Shower DHCs really well by the way.

Yeah, I use Tron because that assist is amazing. I think its easily best assist in the game.

Okay, thanks for testing out the peekaboo in the corner. Gives me more faith to use that assist now.

No problem, good luck with that. I’d be interested to know if you come up with any awesome peekaboo setups using Morrigan.
