MvC3: 2/3rds: The Morrigan Team Building Thread

I think it’s realistic, if I can hit 2 reps every 5 or so tries on my first day, a month of practice should make it stable. It’s really not as bad as it seems, just part of it is fast and the other part is slow.

I use Morrigan/Doom/Phoenix a lot still. Some much ups you can run it Doom/Morri/Phoenix and you end up with 5 bars in like, 4 blocked plasma beams. Team would be a lot more solid if I actually finally learned any of Doom’s TAC combos, but I suck dick at that shit.

Actually, depending on how hard her corner infinite ends up being, that shit could work mad well after something like Burn Out Beak, Phoenix Rage DHC Missiles, perform infinite.

This is really a team that you want to get 5 bars and get Jean in asap on, you don;t want to play to the XF3 Dark Phoenix, you want to whore missiles and harmonizer powered healing fields, so you still have the AV trap to fall back on. Or, just get her truend, put her back in the back, and got to work with AV, and still have the XF3 Dark Phoenix back up. Both work, but I prefer the former.

You play C. Viper, so what you can do in 1 day probably takes me a lot longer. I’ve been playing Morrigan since a month before Ultimate and I still can’t do her double Soul Fist bnb (getting there, though). I use my own ghetto subversion. Maybe I’ll give it a look, though.

Sometimes I’ll use XF2 Dark Phoenix with Morrigan, but my third is Dormammu, so I can’t just play a Dark Phoenix neutral like you can. I have considered putting Phoenix in as soon as I get 5 bars, but I usually prefer to burn a bar here or there with Dormammu while knowing that I’ll get it back. I have a Morrigan/Dormammu bnb that is close to meter neutral while using 2 bars starting from 5, so I’m hoping to discover something similar with Phoenix. It’s pretty easy with Dark Phoenix, just not Phoenix.

Woo, just got 4 reps of the infinite. I think with practice it will be incredibly practical.

Also, Karsticles. I have bad execution. When I was at FGTV one night and people were talking about execution if Desk was a 10, and Shady was an 8 or a 9, I was a 4. This was a consensus between Eduardo and Ryan. X_X I’m sure you’ll be able to get stuff down. It’s still super hard for me, but I’m going hard on dat training mode as you can see by the random tech I’ve been continually pumping out Having finished my job means a lot of time for Marvel. >.>

If you’re a 4, then I’m a 1. There is nothing in this game I cannot do, until I have to do it in a combo. At this point, I’m starting to think I have a mental block against combos. I also don;t have much in the way of an attention span for things like combo practice, I’m absolutely certain if I were ever tested that I’d have adult ADD.

I would rather be good at all the non combo things as they’re more important anyways. ^.^

Don’t say you can’t do it in a combo. It is something that will require more time invested before it’s a reasonable technique for you to use.

Hah. Well, if you put a video out, I’ll give it a shot.

Will do later today, just confirmed with friends that it works, once NEC is done I’ll record and post it. ^.^

Cool and thanks. I look forward to it!

Thanks. I have…no hope of ever doing this, haha. If your execution is a 4, mine is a 1 or a 2. Are you 100% sure it’s an infinite?

Yes I am, it never pushes you far away and the hit stun is not efffected by scaling.

Hmmm…I wonder if at any point during this infinite you can call an assist and use Soul Drain, that way you’re opponent doesn’t benefit from the meter build.

These new discoveries, NEC, and a local tourny have really got me motivated again. One thing I’m interested in trying is a Morrigan/Dante/Ammy team. I think some guys play it in this forum, and it definitely sounds good, but I’m curious on how effective zoning is w/o Hidden Missiles/Vajra.

You can do the Viper and Dante extensions at any point in there to combo soul drains and continue the infinite. You can summon during either the fly cancel or the falling S and then adjust with either a light DP or whatever follow up on the medium fly to hit as many soul drains as possible, but late they’ll flip out of Soul Drain after like 4 frames so it’s not terribly easy to combo after the soul drain.

The difficulty for me is linking the Shadow Blade now.

I can set it up pretty easily and now that I’ve seen how you do it, getting the height correct isn’t as hard, but damn it’s difficult to get the shadow blades to connect.

Can anyone or chrisis test if this can be set up off Ammy Cold Star assist? Would the infinite be easier to setup once you get them in cold star assist in a combo?

Just tried it, and I’m thinking it should work. Granted, I only got to loop it 3 or 4 times after a cold star extension, but I think that’s due to the fact that I’ve been doing the infinite by itself for like an hour without taking a break on my hands.

o ok cool. Thanks for letting me know. I’m def going to try it out today

So I’ve come to the conclusion that the Morrigan/Doom/Dante Shell is extremely abusive. As such, I’m going to start calling it Morrigan Abuse, because that’s basically what your doing to the opponent(abusing the shiz out of him with morrigan, and those two assist).

Funny thing about Abuse though. The first two letters both represent the assist correctly:

a- For Dante’s first assist in Jam session

b- For Doom’s second assist in Missiles

The irony of it all really. Morrigan Abuse…kind of fits her a bit.

That might be the best team in the game theoretically.
