MvC3: 2/3rds: The Morrigan Team Building Thread

I’ve pretty much been using the team the same way. I am really confident in Morrigan anchor as long as she has meter to stay in Astral Vision. The only problem is when she has to fight Dorm who might be her worst matchup, in that which case I would just do my best to snap him in and avoid that problem for Morrigan. I like Magneto’s start of the round options a lot more than Morrigans, and Magneto is awesome with Doom missiles.

I would say the starter should be Magneto, but certain matchups would suggest Morrigan to start.

I wouldn’t say Dormammu is a bad match-up, it’s really only bad if Dorm is backed by a good assist like drones or missiles and he manages to create some space. And as for using her on point instead of Magneto, I think Magneto is better at the start of the round, but Morrigan definitely holds her own.

The only reason I say Dorm is a bad matchup is because he has those pillars (Liberation?) and he can really keep Morrigan from starting her soul fist spam. I have no problems when I finally get in, he’s probably just as good at playing the long range game as she is.

Against what matchups exactly? I’m assuming Morrigan does better against Hulk/Haggar/Wolverine, but my Morrigan is still pretty new so I don’t know all the ins and outs of the character yet.

Definitely against Hulk/Hagger/Sentinel and the likes. Dat armor doesn’t really keep her from doing much because shell kick beats just about anything with super armor.

I prefer Mag/Morri/Doom, rush a bit with Erik, then DHC to AV as soon as you get a second meter. Shockwave covers it very well. I think the team does much better as long as all 3 are alive and healthy.

Morrigan essentially has two important round start options, Vector Drain H, and Shadow Blade.

j.L is also amazing at the beginning of the round. Jump back L, H,S if you want to be defensive or jump forward L,H,S if you want to be offensive.

Shadow blade is amazing, but I find it hard to time the input for it consistently at the beginning of the round. If you input it too early the game wont register a dp motion and you’ll just get a dash out but if you do it too late you’ll have probably been thrown or hit by something stupid. Its hard to time the precise srk motion to moment the announcer says fight.

Hey guys I was a Morrigan player in Vanilla and moved on to other characters to learn the cast better. I think it’s time to return to the succubus but I really don’t want to play Doom.

I’ve been reading backwards and unlike some threads I don’t see a “do’s and don’t’s” to help with my team contrsuction.

What sorts of things should I take into consideration? I appreciate the help.

If you don’t want to play Doom, then I recommend Jeo’s team, Morri/Wesker/Strider.

The reason we list entire teams over which assist types Morri prefers, is that overall, she still doesn’t play well with a lot of assists. She likes fast OTGs, or assists with very long active durations for Soul Drains, she likes locks downs for mix ups, and she like GTFO assists. Most important she likes assists that can force you down from super jump height to normal height. Strider and Doom are the only ones that truly allows the third, and both also allow for Soul Drain combos. Strider isn’t a great neutral assists outside of AV for her though, which is why he’s the second tier pick.

Yeah I think Wesker/Morrigan/Vajra is probably the best non missiles team for her. I think Wesker on point is better so he can battery for Morrigan though. He can probably get like 3+ meters after one reset if you call morrigan in the combo. Morrigan in AV is really stupid with Vajra.

I kinda liked Morrigan/Dr.Strange/Magneto. Disruptah helps everyone out but Morrigan gets great use out of Eye of Agamatto

I use Magneto/Morrigan/Doom. I prefer this variant because I get good DHCs, safe and easy ways to get Astral Vision and push the opponent fullscreen, Morrigan gets disruptor which adds a fast assist punishing layer to her zoning and easier left/right mixups, and I get two characters who can control the whole screen with Hidden Missiles. It also helps that I don’t have to spend 3 bars to safely get Morrigan in and if Magneto dies I’m not left with an assistless Doom coming in. Morrigan isn’t a bad anchor, but she’s not really a threatening one either so you might as well just put Doom in the back.

Ah I see. I’m still a Morrigan noob, but is bullet hell generally self sustaining enough to persist consistently after blowing 2 bars for the DHC? I figured I would run the Magneto/Doom TAC/reset game and get to about 3.5 meters before bringing in Morrigan.

Does anyone else have a xxxx/Morrigan/Phoenix team? Ive been wanting to make a Jean squad but the only character that has seemed to work so far on point is Magneto. Any ideas?

I usually have 3 bars by the time I DHC Morrigan in. Magneto with missiles and harmonizer should have excess meter even if you don’t put Doom in second for the TAC battery.

That’s basically exactly my thoughts on the order, but I still can’t play Mags =(

Not that I can play Ammy either, I’m actually worse with her than Mags, but that Doom/Ammy THC is a game changer, and my Doom almost looks like I’m good with him with Cold Star. I’d still rather use Mag/Morri/Doom though.

I’ve been trying to get back into Marvel (since everyone in my area plays it) and I like to play more of a defensive/zoning game so I’m trying out Morrigan. The original team I setup was Morrigan/Dorm/Doom, but I’ve always played Amaterasu, so I switched out Dorm for Ammy. Depending on the match-up I’ll stick Doom in there first so I can do that Clockwork team super setup when I KO/snap-back. That and I’d much rather have a XF lvl3 Morrigan rather than Doom. Soul Fists > Flight cancels are easier than doing XF lvl 3 Doom combos.

Another reason I switched to her is a lot of damage seems to always be chip damage XD.

Morrigan/Ammy/Doom sounds legit.

You should go with Mag/Doom/Morri
If you see matchup for Morrigan just switch at the start and you have Morri/Doom/Mag, which is cool (Ima mag is better anchor then doom, they play together well).
On normal situations you squeeze what you can, and when Doom get it you will probably have enough meter to DHC into AV and start some MorriDoom play

My favorite part about the team so far is that once if I have Ammy on point I can DHC from Veil of Mist to AH for some added goodness. It’s even more annoying if Doom is still alive for his assist.

Also any clean hit with Doom or Ammy means I get extra meter.

Too bad Morrigan can’t dash like Doom can for fuzzy guard setups. Oh well. Still figuring out the team XP.
